Order of spare parts
For constant operational readiness of the adsorber and thus of the hydraulic unit or transmission, make
sure that there is always a spare parts package or a spare adsorber part in stock.
The time to complete saturation of the activated carbon by the adsorption of oil mist and thus also the
service life of the adsorber depends on various factors:
- Number and duration of flow and loading intervals.
- Amount of oil particles and mists emitted.
Storage of adsorbers
All assemblies filled with desiccant are packed airtight. To avoid damage to the desiccant, it must also be
stored in dark and dry rooms at -10°C to +30°C.

Section 8: disposal
regeneration
In practice, the most common regeneration method used is temperature increase. When desorbing water
vapour from silica gel, the temperature shall be above 100°C. A regeneration temperature between
150°C and 175°C is recommended. However, it should be noted that a color indicator applied to the
silica gel will be damaged at these temperatures. Therefore a regeneration temperature of 120°C is
indicated for silica gel with colour indicator and should not exceed 140°C.
disposal
At the end of its useful life, the device must be disposed of in accordance with the relevant legal
regulations. Metal and plastic parts should be separated according to type and disposed of. The loaded
drying agent Silicagel Orange can be disposed of in household waste. Silicagel Orange is not classified
as a hazardous substance according to European Union legislation (Regulation EC No. 1272/2008).
According to the EC Directive (67/548/EEC or 1999/45/EC) it is not subject to labelling. Silicagel Orange
is not a hazardous substance for health or the environment.
The desiccant Silicagel Blue is mixed with cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate and is classified as a
substance requiring labelling according to the EC Directive (1999/45/EC). This desiccant is one of the
substances hazardous to health and the environment. National regulations must be observed for
disposal.

Section 9: Risk and hazard analysis
1 Positive or negative pressure builds up in the system
Valves are jammed / blocked
The functionality may be impaired by impurities.
Air flow rate too high
If the air flow rate is too high, overpressure or underpressure in the system can be to build.
Filter contaminated
The filter unit can be clogged by dirt particles.
Prefilter disc contaminated
The filter unit can be clogged by dirt particles.
Oil film on the desiccant
Oil particles collect in the pores of the silica gel. Dirt particles can accumulate on the oil film and thus
hinder the supply or exhaust air.
2 Humid air flows into the system
Porous seals
Moist air can flow into the adsorber at the porous points. This means that complete drying is not possible
and moist air enters the system
Saturated desiccant
If the desiccant is saturated, it cannot absorb any more moisture. This allows moist air to enter the
system.
Air flow rate too high
If the air flow rate is too high, the contact time between moist air and desiccant is too short. This allows
moist air to flow into the system.

Oil film on the desiccant
If oil particles get into the adsorber, the oil particles close the pores of the desiccant and thus prevent the
adsorption capability.
Ambient temperature too high
If the ambient temperature exceeds 80°C, the incoming ambient air is only dried to a limited extent.
Adsorber housing is damaged
Material resistance
When selecting an adsorber, the ambient and operating conditions should be taken into account.
Vibrations of the system
Strong vibrations of the system can damage the adsorber.
4. Thread from adsorber and accessories is damaged
When installing the adsorber and the valve part on the system, the threads must be slightly wet with oil.
If the oiling of thethread omit this canlead to trituration ofthe single thread and is no reasonforacomplaint.

Section 10: maintenance schedule
1. Optical check of the silica gel for saturation
Check The loading condition of the silica gel is to be determined by visual inspection of the
adsorber. The colour orange indicates that the silica gel can still adsorb water and air is
dehumidified. If the silica gel is completely saturated, the colour changes to green.
If there are oil particles on the silica gel, these close the pores and the adsorption capacity
is reduced. This causes the silica gel to discolour more slowly and unevenly.
Cycle Weekly
Action The silica gel is removed from the adsorber. New silica gel is refilled. With disposable
adsorbers, the entire adsorber part is changed.
2. Check filter unit for impurities
Check Remove the lid from the adsorber part and remove the activated charcoal disc. Then
empty the desiccant. The filter unit can then be removed. This must be checked for
impurities and should be free of dirt for smooth operation.
Cycle Half-yearly
Action The filter unit is part of the spare parts package and should be replaced if there is
contamination.
3. Check prefilter disc for impurities
Check The prefilter disc should be checked for impurities that may clog it and prevent free air
entry.
Cycle Half-yearly
Action Clean the prefilter disc with compressed air to remove dirt particles and dust.
4. Check seals for wear
Check The seals and O-rings installed in the adsorber and in the valve part must be checked for
their perfect condition. For this purpose, the flat seal in the cover, the O-rings of the filter
unit, and the O-rings between the receiving and adsorber parts should be examined for
brittleness.
Cycle Yearly
Action In case of existing damage, the seals or O-rings should be replaced. These are part of the
spare parts package.

5. Check valves for jamming
Check The valve part must be visually inspected for impurities and damage. In order to ensure
long-term functionality, the valves of the valve section should be checked. To do this,
remove the adsorber part from the valve part and check the functionality of the valves.
Cycle Biennial
Action If the valves do not open and close, replace the valve part with a new one to ensure full
functionality.
6. Optical control of the adsorber
Check The adsorber (valve part and adsorber part) must be visually checked for damage.
Damage can occur due to various environmental or operating conditions.
Cycle Weekly
Action If the adsorber is damaged, replace the damaged part to ensure full functionality.
7. Replacing wear parts
Check The wear parts of the adsorber and the valve part must be checked for their condition.
Cycle Biennial
Action Regardless of the result of the test, it is recommended to replace the wearing parts by
using the spare parts package or a new adsorber part to ensure smooth operation.
