• Subjec o he erms and condi ions of his Limi ed Warran y as herein s a ed, all Giles En erprises Inc. (here-
af er referred o as “Giles”) food service equipmen and par s purchased new from an au horized Giles rep-
resen a ive are warran ed as o defec s in ma erial or workmanship for a period of wen y-four (24) mon hs
from he da e of ins alla ion, provided, however, ha wi h regard o labor cos s in connec ion wi h his war-
ran y, see below. All ins alla ions mus be made by a qualified ins alling agency in accordance wi h all appli-
cable codes and/or regula ions in he jurisdic ion in which ins alled. Limi ed warran y coverage is ex ended
only o he original owner and is void if he uni is resold.
• During he Limi ed Warran y period, Giles will replace or recondi ion, a i s fac ory, any par or par s of his
uni which Giles inspec ors judge defec ive, provided he uni has been properly ins alled, subjec ed o nor-
mal usage, and opera ed and main ained in accordance wi h specified procedures. This Limi ed Warran y
does no cover cosme ic damage, and damage due o ac s of God, acciden , misuse, al era ion, negligence,
abuse, or use of unor hodox repair me hods. All par s replaced under his Limi ed Warran y carry only he
unexpired erm of his Limi ed Warran y. Limi ed Warran y service may be furnished only by an au horized
Giles service represen a ive.
• If Limi ed Warran y service is reques ed, Giles will dispa ch fac ory-au horized service represen a ives o
inspec , repair, recondi ion, or replace uni s of i s manufac ure wi h such labor being rendered wi hou cos
o owner for wen y-four (24) mon hs from he da e of ins alla ion. O herwise, service, including labor and
ranspor a ion charges or o her expenses, in connec ion wi h he removal or ins alla ion of any par or par s
supplied under his Limi ed Warran y, are specified on he original sales con rac be ween he purchaser and
he au horized Giles represen a ive.
•Failure to use Giles OEM replacement parts and Giles OEM filters may void this Warranty.
• Giles reserves he righ o change or improve i s equipmen and/or par s in any way wi hou obliga ion o
al er such equipmen or par s previously manufac ured.
• Giles makes no fur her warran ies, express or implied, including implied warran ies of merchan abili y or fi -
ness for a par icular purpose, and has no o her obliga ion or liabili y no specifically s a ed herein.
• Repair or replacemen as provided under his limi ed warran y is he exclusive remedy. Giles shall no be
liable for any inciden al or consequen ial damages for breach of any express or implied warran y on his

• Bef re cleaning r perf rming maintenance, place p wer switch in the [OFF] p siti n. Unplug p wer c rd r turn
OFF p wer at the electrical panel supplying p wer t rem ve all p wer fr m the appliance.
• DO NOT ADD WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS! The GHM Warmer is NOT a steam table. The pan well is n t designed
t c ntain liquid. Water c uld leak int the heating element c mpartment, r c ntact ther electrical
c mp nents, creating an electrical sh ck hazard.
• DO NOT wash d wn the unit interi r r exteri r with water fr m a spray h se.
• Failure t c mply with DANGER n tices will result in seri us injury, even death; r damage t equipment and/ r
pr perty and may v id the fact ry warranty.
• Pri r t installati n, c nsult a qualified electrician t ensure that installati n will c mply with all electrical and
mechanical c de requirements.
• The unit must be adequately and ro erly grounded. Im ro er grounding can otentially result in electrical
shock to Users.
• Check the rating label on the unit to determine the ro er ower su ly required. Always consult an electrician,
or other qualified service technician, to ensure that circuit breakers and wiring are of sufficient rating and gauge
to ower this equi ment. A Wiring Diagram has been rovided with the unit as an aid for technicians. The unit
must be installed and electrically grounded in accordance with local codes, or in the absence of local codes, in
accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.

• Prepared f d pr ducts, held f r sale, must be maintained at a minimum temperature f 150°F (65.5°C) r in
acc rdance with state and l cal health regulati ns.
• The unit must remain in a h riz ntal p siti n during perati ns.
• Exercise care when rem ving w den crate framew rk and when lifting and m ving the unit fr m shipping pallet.
• DO NOT perate the appliance, unless its c mp nents and their intended functi ns are fully underst d (see
Section 3). Once y u have read and fully understand Section 3, cl sely f ll w the instructi ns presented in this
Manual in rder t prevent equipment damage, r malfuncti n.
• Certain parts f the unit, including f d pans and f d pr ducts, will bec me very HOT!
Temperatures inside the unit can exceed 150°F (65.5°C). Surface temperature f the upper ceramic Infrared Heaters can be
in excess f 400°F (204.5°C). Exercise cauti n when handling f d pans, cleaning, r servicing the unit.
Wear pers nal pr tective equipment (PPE), such as thermal ven mitts r gl ves, while attending the unit.
• This appliance is n t intended f r use by pers ns (including children) with reduced physical, sens ry, r mental
capabilities, r lack f experience and kn wledge, unless they have been given adequate instructi n and/ r
supervisi n c ncerning its use by a pers n resp nsible f r their safety. Children sh uld n t be all wed t play
with, r in the area ar und, the appliance.
• Any required tr ublesh ting and repair f this equipment is t be perf rmed by a qualified and fact ry-
auth rized service c mpany.
• All w the unit t c l f r a minimum f 15 minutes bef re cleaning r servicing.

• Alway maintain safe clearances between the unit and c mbustible walls r materials.
• When cleaning the appliance:

degradable, n n-t xic degreasing cleaner such as Simp e Green® HD Pro.

cust mer is resp nsible f r btaining all f the necessary appr vals fr m Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
c ncerning use f this equipment.

Thank you for choosing the GILES GHM Heated Merchandiser manufactured by Giles Enter rises, Inc., Montgomery,
Alabama (USA), hereafter referred to as "GILES". The unit is either a model GHM-4 GHM-5 GHM-6 or GHM-8 with
any one of three different service configurations: a). Full O erator Serve, b). Combination - O erator Full-Serve Main
Section with 2-Foot Customer Self-Serve Section, c). Full Customer Self-Serve [only GHM-4 or 5]. Warmer can have
either clear or mirror-tinted doors and side glasses.
Unit can be installed into a base counter or stand alone for a counter-to a lication, utilizing the rovided adjustable
legs. Develo ed with flexibility in mind, designed to maximize the number of menu selections dis layed while kee ing
roducts fresh at the ro er holding and serving tem erature awaiting your customers’ enjoyment.
To hel rotect your investment in this equi ment, we recommend taking a few moments to familiarize yourself with
the installation, cleaning and maintenance rocedures contained in this manual. Please read these instructions rior to
installing and using Warmer. Adherence to these recommended rocedures minimizes the otential for costly "down-
time" and equi ment re airs. With ro er care and maintenance this unit will rovide years of de endable, trouble-
free service.

Temperature Control - Each well has variable lower and u er heater tem erature control. Controls are easy to use
and indicator lights show status. GHM4 = 3 wells, GHM5 = 4 wells, GHM6 = 5 wells, GHM8 = 7 wells.
Lighting - Two (2) economical, coated, fluorescent tubes illuminate dis layed roducts.
European-Style Glass - Allows maximum visibility of roducts. Pneumatic struts hold glass in the o en osition for
easy cleaning.
Fold-Down Shelf - HDPE (high-density olyethylene) fold-down work shelf along o erator-side of the unit. Easily
removable for cleaning.
Unit constructed rimarily of Series 430 Stainless Steel. Features a tem ered Euro ean-style hinged front glass cover
and rear sliding doors.
Self-Serve - GHM-5,6 & 8 are available with a 24” section (either right or left) o en to the customer-side of the unit,
allowing customers to serve themselves. The GHM-4 & 5 is available with the full width o en to the customer-side for
self service.
Glass Style - Side glass and rear glass doors are available in either clear glass or mirror tinted.

This section exp ains the procedures necessary to proper y insta the GILES Heated Merchandiser. To he p avoid
persona injury or equipment damage, p ease ensure the fo owing steps are fo owed.

avai ab e at the intended ocation meets the e ectrica specifications stated on the unit’s rating abe , and that wiring

• Make certain unit is insta ed on a counter-top, or suitab e base, that is stab e and substantia enough to support the
unit p us weight of food it is to contain.
• Be sure that the unit is secure in its ocation and cannot be inadvertent y moved.

2.01 Appliance Location

Unit is shipped on a wooden skid with a protective wooden framework; secured to the skid by means of high strength
strapping. The entire skid is wrapped with machine-app ied stretch wrap. Auxi ary items, such as Side G asses, Pan
Dividers, Legs and F uorescent Lights, are packed separate y, contained in cartons packed in the pan we . Be certain
to remove and retain.
• App iance is heavy ... Exercise care when ifting or moving ... Use adequate manpower or appropriate hand ing
equipment.
• Exercise care when removing and disposing of the wooden crate materia .
• Fai ure to comp y with CAUTION notices may resu t in minor to moderate injury, equipment or property damage,
and cou d void the factory warranty.
IMPORTANT!
If the crate sh ws evidence f damage, immediately inspect the entire unit and the access ry items. N tify the
freight c mpany f any and all damages bserved. Typically, it will be the purchaser’s resp nsibility t neg tiate
freight damage claims with carriers.

2. Remove items packed in the pan we , examine for damage and set aside.
3. Carefu y remove the unit from the shipping pa et. Units are extreme y heavy, see Secti n 1.04.4, Weights. Use
appropriate ifting equipment, or adequate manpower. Due care shou d be taken when ifting and moving the unit
to prevent persona injury or equipment damage. Gi es sha not be iab e for persona injury or damage caused by
improper hand ing, or use of poor work practices.

2. Insta and secure the Adjustab e Legs at each corner. Each sty e Leg shou d be insta ed on the opposite diagona
corners from one another. Take care t n t cr ss-thread studs.
3. P ace unit onto a suitab e counter-top that is substantia enough to safe y support the app iance.
4. Leve unit by rotating the ower portion of the Legs to adjust the ength as needed ... c ockwise shortens eg,
counter-c ockwise engthens egs. Unit shou d be stab e and eve ; side-to-side, front-to-back and corner-to-corner.

• Exercise care when lifting and moving unit onto counter.
• Ensure that the counter base and/or counter-top is capable of supporting the weight of the unit and the food
products to be displayed. See Section1-4.4, Unit Weights.

1. The GHM Warmer may a so be insta ed on an appropriate y sized custom or pre-
fabricated base counter (GILES ffers several different styles f stainless steel Bases,
specifically designed f r GHM Series Warmers). Prior to insta ing the unit ensure that
the base counter is eve and stab e.
2. The unit must be attached to the counter in accordance with oca bui ding code and/or
app icab e hea th and sanitation code. Some hea th codes require that cracks and
space between app iance and base, and base and f oor must be sea ed to e iminate
potentia harborage for pests. It is the responsibi ity of the purchaser and their
contracted insta er to ensure that a app icab e code and regu ation requirements are
met.
