WARNING: To protect the premium quality ceramic non-sck surfaces, use
only plasc, nylon or wooden utensils to remove waes.
Recipes will vary in cook me; baers with more sugar will brown
quicker. Thicker baers may require a longer cooking me.
1. Li the front handle to unlock and open the wae maker.
2. Before baking the rst waes of the day, use a pastry brush to lightly coat
the top and boom ceramic plates with buer or vegetable oil. DO NOT
USE NON-STICK SPRAYS AS THEY CAN CAUSE BUILD-UP ON THE PLATES.
Lower the top ceramic plate.
3. Plug the wae maker into an outlet. The red POWER light will come on
and remain lighted during use.
When heated for the rst me, the wae maker can emit slight
smoke or odor. This is normal and should disappear aer one or two
uses. You may want to discard your rst waes.
4. Turn the control dial to the MAX seng to preheat.
5. While preheang, prepare your recipe.
6. Aer approximately 5 minutes, the green READY light will come on, indi-
cang the unit is ready for use.
7. Turn the control dial to the desired seng. A lower seng produces a
lighter browned wae, while waes made at a higher seng are darker
and crispier. When preparing a recipe for the rst me, turn the control
dial to the center (MEDIUM); then adjust according to preference.
8. Make sure the side handle is extended. Li the front handle to unlock and
open the wae maker.
9. Pour just enough baer to ll lower grid (about 2/3 to 3/4 cup of baer
for each side). Use a spatula to spread the baer in to the corners if need-
ed. Do not overll; baer will expand when cooked.
(connued on page 7)

locks shut, use the extended side handle to rotate unit counterclock-
wise 180°.
11. When the underside green light turns on, rotate the handle clockwise
180° and then carefully open the wae maker.
Do not open the wae maker if total cooking me is under 1
minute 30 seconds. This can cause the under-cooked waes to
break and they can be dicult to remove from the plates.
12. Waes should be baked according to the recipe you are following - for a
darker, crispier wae, lower the top ceramic plate again and turn the
control dial to increase the temperature. Connue to bake for 30 sec-
ond intervals, checking unl the desired doneness is reached.
13. When done, remove waes using a rubber or wooden spatula. If mak-
ing more waes, close the wae maker to retain heat. Always wait for
the green light to come on before adding more baer.
14. When nished baking, unplug the cord from the outlet. The wae
maker will remain ON unless it is unplugged. Li the front handle to
open the wae maker and allow to cool.
Extra waes freeze well. Cool completely and store in a covered
container (separate waes with wax paper) in your freezer.
