General Description
TheGioPeelMicrodermabrasionsystemisdesignedtoexfoliatebyabradingtheskinwithhigh-puritygradeAluminumOxide
Crystalormayalsobeusedforcrystal-freeoperation.Themajorcomponentsofthesysteminclude:
• Powerfuldiaphragmvacuumpump
• Onesimplevacuumowcontrolvalve
• Plasticcrystalvolumeowcontrolscrewnut(noadjustingneededafterinitialadjustment)
• Prelledandsealed“CrystalCapsule™”containingenoughabradingmediafor7to9completetreatments
• CrystalCapsule™alsocontainsasealedusedcrystalwastereceptaclelocatedonthebottomhalfofthedisposablecapsule
• Disposableplastichandpiecewithconnectingtubing
• DisposableCrystal-FreeKit
NotonlyisyourGioPeellightweightandeasytomovefromroomtoroom,thehandpieceisveryeasytomanipulateanditssizeand
shapehasbeenengineeredtoprovideprecisionandaccuracyforthemicrodermabrasionprocedure.Thetipisdesignedtoprovide
theproperangletoabradetheepidermissafelyandgradually.Thetubingforthehandpieceisconnectedtotwopostslocatedinthe
centerfronthousingoftheCrystalCapsule.Thetubingconnectsthesystem’scrystalsupplytothehandpiecethenisvacuumedup
anddepositedinthewastesectionofthesamecapsule!Onlywhenthetipisincontactwiththeskinisthevacuumcreatedbyclos-
ingtheloopafterconnectingthedisposableCrystalCapsulethevacuumportpostonthefrontoftheGioPeel.Thevacuumgauge
indicatesthevacuumlevelthatisregulatedbytheowcontrolvalve.

Attaching the Tubing & Nozzle
• Connectthepropersizetubingtotheappropriatepostonthecapsule.Push
tubingrmlyontotheposts(g.6).
• Connectthepropersizetubingtotheatendofthenozzle.Pushtubingrmly
intothenozzle(g.7).
Attaching the Media Canister
• SlidetheCrystalCapsule’s™openingontothemalevacuumportpoststicking
outofthefrontofyourGioPeel.Vacuumportpostislocatedbetweenthe

Turning the Unit On

• Plug the POWER CORD into the connector located on the back of the
microdermabrader.
• AttachtheotherendofthePOWER CORD toaproperlygroundedoutlet
supplying115vac.
• DepresstheIportionofthemasterpowerswitchlocatedonthebackofthe
GioPeeltoturntheuniton.Thefanwillstart.
• DepresstheIportionofthepowerswitchlocatedonthefrontoftheGioPeel
toturnthesuctionon.
Adjusting Crystal Flow
• Unscrewingthenutcounter-clockwiseadjustscrystalow.Youshouldnotice
somemovement,orbubbling,ofthenewabradingmediainsidetheCrystal
Capsule™whenpreformingprocedures(g.9).
• Iflesscrystalowisdesired,unscrewthenutuntilyouseeaslightdecreaseof
thecrystalbubblinginsidethecapsule,ornomovementatallwhichindicates
minimumvolumeofcrystalow(g.9).
Vacuum Control Valve
• TurntheVacuumControlValveclockwisetoincreasethevacuumorcounter-
clockwisetodecreasevacuum(g.10).

Operation Procedure
• Operatorsareadvisedtoalwayswearamaskandgloveswhileperformingmicrodermabrasion.
• Besureanewnozzleisproperlyattachedtothetubing.Newtubingisrecommendedifanymedicalskinproblemisnoted.
• Cleanthenozzlewithamilddisinfectant(youmayalsoautoclavethe“blue”reusablenozzles).
• Plugthetipopeningwithyourthumbandturnthevacuumcontrolknobtoreacha10”Hgsetting.
• StartwiththeCrystalFlowControlNutscreweddownfully(maximumow).
• PlacethetipopeningagainsttheskinandcrystalwillbegintoagitateintheCrystalCapsule™(asdescribedonpage7)andbegin
owingthroughthenozzle.
• Maintainnozzleopeninginfullimmediatecontactwiththeskintoachievedsmoothresults.
• Increaseordecreasevacuumleveldependingonpatient’stoleranceandthemanufacturersrecommendedsettings.
• Increaseordecreasecrystalow,dependingonresultsandpatienttolerance,byturningthreadnut.Iflesscrystalowisdesired,
unscrewthenutuntilyouseeaslightdecreaseofthecrystalbubblinginsidethecapsule,ornomovementatall,whichindicates
minimumvolumeofcrystalow.
• Oncesatisfactoryresultsareobtained,notethevacuumsettingsforthatpatientforfuturetreatments.
• Uponcompletionofthemicrodermabrasiontreatment,turnthemachineoffandcleanaccordingtorecommendedcleaningpro-
tocol.
• Cleanoutsideofmachinewithamilddisinfectantonly.DO NOT USE ALCOHOL,whichmaydamageunitandltercover.
• Proceedwithanafter-treatmentregimentasrecommendedbyyourskincarespecialist.
Safety
• Whenthenozzleopeningisinfullimmediatecontactwiththeskin,avacuumiscreatedtherebyactivatingthepressuresystem.
Thevacuum maybe visuallyconrmed bywatching theclean crystal,in thetop halfof the pre-lledsealed capsuleagitate
throughout.
• Theairowfromthesystembeginsatthevacuumportpost,thenpassesthroughtheCrystalCapsule™andcarriestheMicro-Crystal
throughthetubingtothenozzle.Thespeciallyengineerednozzleallowsforuniform,steadyandeffectiveabradingaction.Once
theabradingmediaispassedovertheskin,itisdrawnawayandsuctionedbackintothebottomhalfofthesealedwastereceptacle
portionoftheCrystalCapsule™.
• Crystalemissionshouldbeactivatedonlywhenthenozzleisinfullimmediatecontactwiththetreatmentarea.Immediatelybegin
continuouslymovingthenozzleoverthetreatmentarea.
Warning
• Holding the nozzle in STATIONARY CONTACT with the skin can cause SERIOUS DEEP ABRASION,
BLEEDING AND SCARRING!
•TheGioPeelMicrodermabrasionmachineisaclosedlooptypesystem,whichpreventscross-contamination.Thenozzlemaybe
disinfected.Disposablenozzleseliminatetheneedforsterilization,butcouldbeusedacoupleoftimesifyouhaveanultraviolet
orsteamsterilizer.
• Insertcapsulefullyontothepostwithbotho-ringsdowninsidetheopeninginthecapsule(g.8).
Important
• Neverreusecrystalfromthewastereceptaclehalfofthecapsule.DisposeoftheentireCrystalCapsule™intoatrashreceptacle,
whichyoucansealtopreventaccidentalinhalation.Reusetheyellowandorangecapsandtapeoverthevacuumpostsopening
tohelpsealupthecapsulebeforedisposingforaddedprotectionagainstspillsorinhalation.
• Glovesandmasksarerecommendedfortheoperatorduringuseandcleaning.
• Alwaysprotectthepatient’seyesfromcrystals.Thepatientshouldremovecontactlensesandeyeglasses.Eyes must be protected
with cotton balls, goggles, tanning eyecups or a combination of these.
OPERATION PROCEDURES, SAFETY & WARNINGS
Do not operate your Gio Peel Microdermabrasion System until you have successfully completed the proceeding
installation and set-up procedures listed on page 6, have read and understand the complete operating instruc-
tions, and have signed the training certication form at the back of this manual.
The Gio Peel System must be set-up, regulated, and used only in accordance with the
operating instructions set forth in this manual.
NEVER ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE GIO PEEL ENCLOSURE.
This will void your warranty. There are no user serviceable components inside.

AluminumOxide(Al2O3)soldtobeusedwiththisequipmentisthemanmadeequivalentofamineralcalled
Corundum.Thiscrystallizedpowderistheperfectabrasivebecauseitissurpassedinhardnessonlybyadia-
mondandisablockshaped,sharpedgedcrystal.Whenfoundinnature,thepure,transparentortranslucent
corundumisprizedasagem.Othermorefamiliarvarietiesofthesamemineralfamilyarenamedaccording
totheircolorsuchassapphire(blue)ruby(red)amethyst(purple)oremerald(green).Thismineralcom-
poundshouldnotbeconfusedwithAluminum(Al)orproductsmadefromAluminum(Al)orthepotential
healthrisksthatmebeassociatedwithAluminum(Al)duringtopicalskintreatmentsorbyingestion.This
productcontainsnoAluminum.
Weofferavarietyofthreecrystalsizesthatallowyoutocustomizeyourtreatmentfortheneedsofyour
patient.

sionandotherareasrequiringdeeperabrasion.Priortotheprocedure,andevaluationoftheskinwilldeterminewhich

6. Repeatabovestepsontheoppositesideoftheface.
7. Lowerthesuctiontoaboutlevel10andperformthetreatmentontheneck.Runthehandpieceinan
upwardmotion,thenpullandliftoutwardtowardtheears.Twopassesaresufcienttothisarea.
8. Repeatundertheeye,includingouterareaandcrows’feet.Thisshouldbeperformedinshort,quick
strokestoinsurepatientcomfort.
9. Thelipscannowbetreatedinthesamemanner.Alwaysholdthelipstautanduseshort,quickstokes.
BesuretoworktheVermilionBorder,reducingnelinesandleavingthelipsrefreshedandfull.
10. Removethetubefromthecleanmediacanister.Nowyouareworkingwithsuctiononly,nocrystals.
Repeattheproceduretocleanupresidualcrystals.Thiswillalsofurtherstimulatebloodow,leaving
thepatientwithahealthy,beautifulglow.

Preparetheskinbycleaningtheareatobetreated.Nooilsormake-upshouldbeleftontheskin.Useanon-oilycleanserandrinse
untilclean(preferablyChamomileCleanser).
Important:
• Dry the skin completely. Any remaining moisture may clog system and reduce treatment efcacy.
• Use only ordinary gauze or sponge for cleaning. Do not use cotton! Residual bers can be sucked into the tip and clog the
system.
Exfoliation Rate
Therateatwhichtissueisremovedisdirectlyrelatedtothespeedandvolumeatwhichthecrystalpassesthroughthenozzle.The
settingofthesetwocontrolsincreasesordecreasestherateofexfoliation:
• Vacuum Level:TurningtheVacuumControlValvewillincreaseordecreasethevacuumlevel.

Eye, Ear & Hair Protection

removecontactlensesandeyeglasses.The eyes MUST be protected with eye patches, cotton balls, goggles, tanning eyecups or

NOTE: Some people have more sensitive skin than others. Tolerance to treatment will vary. People with more
sensitive skin may require lower vacuum levels with longer, lighter treatments and more treatment sessions.
