following these presents a serious risk to your health, safety and could damage your
machine:
• Do Not use or launch any other balls other than size 3, 4 and 5
regulation footballs.

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
5
Do Not use footballs that are under inflated. They must be pumped to
the minimum PSI as printed on the ball or advised by the manufacturer.
Do Not operate or allow operation without adult
supervision below the age of 18. Parents or Guardians that allow
this, do so entirely at their own risk.
• Do Not place hands or any part of the body inside of the Ball Launcher
when it is operational and the launch wheels are moving.
• Do Not allow any individual to be present directly in front of the
Ball Launcher within a range of 5 metres when it is operational.
Do Not launch footballs quicker than a 3 second time
delay between each ball.
Do Not purposefully aim or direct footballs at any individual or
object unless it is part of an agreed and prepared training and coaching
routine supervised by an adult.
Do Not use the machine in poorly lit conditions, reduced daylight,
rain or thunderstorms.

HOW TO USE AND OPERATE YOUR BALL LAUNCHER TRAINER MACHINE
Lifting, Transporting and Moving your Ball Launcher Machine
Your Ball Launcher Trainer machine is designed to be easily transportable around the
pitch or garden and to and from training. There are a number of safety instructions you
must follow when doing so.
By not following these instructions, you risk serious injury to yourself and
others as well as damage to the Ball Launcher machine that will not be
covered under warranty.
You may often need to lift the Ball Launcher to move it in and out of your vehicle or in
and out of a storage area for example. The Ball Launcher machine is 31 kilograms in
weight and must always be carefully lifted from the ground with two people, one at
each end. There are two hand holes on each side on the underneath of the machine
at the rear, and at the other end the handle is used for lifting:
• Bend your knees when lifting the machine.
• Keep a straight back when lifting the machine.
• Each person lifting the machine should have the ability to individually lift a
minimum of 16kg in weight before attempting to lift the machine off the
ground.

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
10
When transporting your Ball Launcher machine, it is your responsibility to ensure that
it is securely and safely placed in your vehicle.
When moving your Ball Launcher Trainer machine across the ground, the handle
should be used as you would on a typical hand luggage type bag that has a handle at
one end and rotating wheels at the other:
• Bend your knees when picking up the handle.
• Keep a straight back when pulling or pushing the machine using the handle.
• Do not drop the handle to the ground, gently lay the handle and machine on
the ground.
For further information please read the following lifting guidelines as advised by the
UK NHS. http://www.nhs.uk/livewell/workplacehealth/pages/safe-lifting-tips.aspx
What Footballs Should Be Used?
The Ball Launcher Trainer machine works with all regulation size 3, 4 and 5 footballs.
However, you must always keep balls inflated to the minimum PSI level as printed on
the football or advised by the manufacture when using the Ball Launcher. Not doing
so may affect the quality of ball delivery or the performance of your Ball Feeder. For
example, the Ball Feeder may release balls unexpectedly or allow more than one ball
through at a time if footballs are not pumped to the advised PSI.
We do not recommend using really cheap footballs with the machine. Like many things
in life, compromising heavily on quality, often reduces performance.
For reference, at Ball Launcher we have found that the Mitre Ultimatch Hyperseam
footballs work very well with our Ball Launcher machines. Other affordable footballs
with a grippy nodule pattern on the surface also work very well.

THE CONTROLS
Below are two images that show the Control Panel (CP) and the Remote Control (RC).
These are the machine controls and are required to perform a number of important
actions on the Ball Launcher Trainer machine. The Control Panel is fixed onto the
Base Machine and the Remote Control is a separate handheld unit.
The Control Panel:
The Remote Control:

How To Turn Your Ball Launcher Trainer Machine On?
Press the switch CP1 into Position I on the Control Panel. When the switch is placed
in this position, you will notice a green light flash on the Battery Meter (CP6) to indicate
the machine is On and power is available. This is the standard On position and uses
the internal battery to power the machine.
Next, pick up the Remote Control and move the switch RC1 into the On position. This
will link your Remote Control to the Base Machine. If successful, the light RC2 will
flash orange and then green.
If unsuccessful, the light RC2 will flash red. Please note the Round Speed Dials
(RC3) must both be placed in the zero speed position to successfully link the
Remote Control to the Base Machine, this is a safety feature.
How To Attach And Plug In The Ball Feeder?
As mentioned earlier in this guide (LIST OF PARTS), if you have also ordered a Ball
Feeder it will come separately packaged to your Base Machine and will require part
assembly. Please see section ‘How To Assemble Your Ball Feeder?’, which is the final
and last section of this document.
Once assembled, the Ball Feeder can be easily attached and plugged into your
machine within a few seconds.
Take the 4 Thumb Screws that come with your Ball Feeder and insert and screw them
down into the threaded holes on the Base Machine to the height shown in the below
image. These Thumb Screws are needed to attach your Ball Feeder to the Base
Machine.
Next, pick up the assembled Ball Feeder, and place the key holes of the Ball Feeder
over the Thumb Screws on the Base Machine and then slide into position as per the
below image.

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
13
Once in position, always tighten the 4 Thumb Screws so that they hold the Ball Feeder
in a secure position on the Base Machine.
If the Ball Feeder is attached and screwed on properly it looks like the below image,
this means you have done it correctly:
The next step is to plug your Ball Feeder into the machine so it has power. Insert the
4 pin plug of the Ball Feeder into the Control Panel socket CP3. When doing this, make
sure that the 4 pins on the plug are aligned with the 4 pins on the socket. The arrow
on the plug indicates the correct way up to insert. Your Ball Feeder is now ready to
use.

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
14
We strongly advise that you remove and re-attach your Ball Feeder if you
move your machine more than 40 metres across the training pitch or garden.
Always remove your Ball Feeder before moving your machine over any rough
terrain or uneven surfaces. Not doing so risks injury or damage to the
machine, which will not be covered by warranty.
Important Ball Feeder Additional Notes:
The Ball Feeder allows you to automatically store and launch up to six size 3, 4 or 5
footballs. Your Ball Feeder will come automatically set up to use for size 3 and 4
footballs with Black Plastic Tips screwed onto the end of the two Solenoids. This is
shown in the picture below:
These Black Plastic Tips must be screwed in tightly and should stay in whenever you
are using size 3 and 4 footballs. If you wish to use size 5 footballs in your Ball
Feeder, the Black Plastic Tips must be unscrewed and removed. You must keep
them in a safe place as you will need to screw them tightly back in again next time
you wish to use size 3 or 4 footballs.

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
15
After using your machine with the Black Plastic Tips screwed in, remember to check
that they are still screwed in tightly after the end of each session so that you do not
lose them.
When you have finished your Ball Launcher sessions and want to remove your Ball
Feeder from the Base Machine, make sure you push the button marked PUSH on the
Control Panel socket to remove the Ball Feeder plug carefully.
Please be careful not to lose the Thumb Screws when not using your Ball Feeder or
transporting your machine.
Do Not put more than 6 footballs in the Ball Feeder at any one time.
Do Not stand underneath the Ball Feeder when the machine is in
operation. Doing so risks head injury.
How To Insert The Launch Speed Boost Plug In?
As mentioned earlier in this guide (LIST OF PARTS), if as part of your order you have
also ordered a Launch Speed Boost plug in, it will arrive as an additional item within
your main package.
As per the image below, insert the Launch Speed Boost plug into the Control Panel
socket CP4 and tighten the 2 screws so it is held securely in place. Once plugged in,
your Launch Speed Boost plug will work automatically.
If you wish to remove your Launch Speed Boost plug in simply untighten the 2 screws
and gently remove it. Please keep in a safe place so you do not lose.
The Launch Speed Boost plug increases ball exit speed capacity. It is
purchased and used entirely at the risk of the customer if the purchase is
made for use involving children. As per the general use of the Ball Launcher
Trainer machine, adult supervision of children at all times is a must.

How To Use Your Remote Control To Operate The Machine?
After you have turned on and set up your Ball Launcher Trainer machine, you are
almost ready to start ball launching. You must also make sure you have read the
remainder of this guide including all of the warnings.
The Image RC shows the main functions of the Remote Control. The previous section
‘How To Turn Your Ball Launcher Trainer Machine On?’ shows you how to
successfully turn on your machine and link it to the Remote Control ready for use.
Speed and Spin:
The Round Speed Dials (RC3) allow you to control the speed and spin of the footballs
as they pass through and exit the machine. For example, if the dials are set on 50%,
the footballs will exit the machine at 50% of available power. And if the dials are set
on 100%, the footballs will exit the machine at 100% of available power.
If both dials are set to the same %, the footballs will exit the machine in a straight
direction without spin.
If the dials are set at a different %, the footballs will exit the machine with left or right
spin applied. For example, if the left dial is set on a higher % than the right dial, this
will mean that the exiting football will curve to right. And if the right dial is set on a
higher % than the left dial, the exiting football will curve to the left.
The best way to master and become familiar with the speed and spin settings is simply
to practice by using the machine and launching footballs.
Launch Height:
The Remote Control is used to control the angle at which the footballs exit the
machine. For example, it is possible to launch footballs at up to 23 degrees high and
as low as -2 degrees down.
When the green light on the Remote Control is on next to LAUNCH HEIGHT (RC4),
you can use the up and down buttons (RC8) to control the launch height. You can
either tap the buttons for small changes in launch height, or you can hold and press
for bigger changes in launch height.
Our recommendation when training with the machine, is to use at least 1 practice ball
launch before each training routine so that you can adjust it to your preferred launch
height.
The Ball Feeder, Launch Interval and Manual Launch:
The Ball Feeder is needed to use the LAUNCH INTERVAL and MANUAL LAUNCH
settings on the Remote Control. If you are not using a Ball Feeder and are physically

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
17
feeding the footballs directly into the machine, these settings on the Remote Control
are not used or needed.
If you have attached and plugged in your Ball Feeder, you can press the SELECT
button (RC4) to control either LAUNCH INTERVAL or MANUAL. Each time you press
the SELECT button, it will take you to the next setting so you can control it.
If the green light is on next to LAUNCH INTERVAL, this means that your Ball Feeder
is now in action and will start automatically launching the footballs that are loaded into
the Ball Feeder every 5 seconds. You can use the up and down buttons to increase
or decrease the time gap between automatic launches. For example, you have three
choices and you can choose from either a 3, 5 or 8 second gap between automatic
launches.
If you would prefer to control and decide exactly when each football is released from
the Ball Feeder and launched from the machine, you have the option to do this. This
is known as MANUAL LAUNCH. Press the SELECT button on the Remote Control
until the green light next to the MANUAL LAUNCH setting is shown. Footballs are then
footballs are launched one at a time by pressing the button RC7 on the Remote
Control.
Changing the AA Batteries on the Remote Control:
Your Remote Control comes with two standard AA Batteries already installed. Once
these run out of power, you will need to replace them within the battery compartment
RC9. We recommend that you only use quality long life AA Batteries.
How to Launch Footballs Left And Right?
Your Ball Launcher Trainer Machine can be rotated 360 degrees when it is placed on
the ground. This means that you can easily change the direction in which the footballs
are launched. This is a manual action and is simply achieved by turning and pointing

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
18
the machine in the direction that you want to launch the footballs. Please see below
images:
What Are the Safety Switches?
CP5 and CP6 on the Control Panel are trip switches designed to protect the internal
mechanisms of the machine and the safety of users. For example, if any object
becomes jammed within the device, power is automatically cut from the machine. If
this occurs and you wish to use the machine again, after 60 seconds you simply press
the switches back into the normal operating position and power will be restored.
How To Turn The Ball Launcher Trainer Machine Off?
Turn the Round Speed Dials into the zero speed position and press switch RC1 into
the Off position.
Go to CP1 and press this switch into Position O. When the switch is placed in this
position, all power is removed and the machine cannot be operated. You should
always place this switch in this Off position whenever you have finished using the
machine.
To avoid losing your Remote Control, you can store it in the pre designed holding bay
using the magnets on the rear of the Remote Control and on the orange hood
.

How To Charge Your Ball Launcher Trainer Machine?
When fully charged your Ball Launcher Trainer machine should provide around 4
hours of continuous use before charging is required again.
You can view how much power is remaining on your machine when CP1 is placed in
Position I - On. The green coloured bars on the Battery Meter (CP6) will indicate to
you how much battery power is remaining. If all the green coloured bars are shown, it
means that you have full power. A lower number of green coloured bars means that a
lower amount of battery power is remaining. If amber or red coloured bars are shown,
it means you should stop using the machine and recharge the battery before further
use.
To recharge your machine, follow the below steps:
• Place the switch CP1 on the machine into Position O - Off. This is the position
that the switch must be in on the Ball Launcher machine to charge the
machine, otherwise charging will not work.
• Place your machine next to an electrical plug socket. (If you are unable to
place your machine directly next to a plug socket, you can use a plug
extension lead to reach the machine, these are commonly used and available
around the world, we do not supply them).
• Fully insert the Battery Charger plug into the Control Panel socket CP2
location as shown in the photo. When doing this, make sure that the 3 pins on
the plug are aligned with the 3 pins on the socket. The arrow on the plug
indicates the correct way up to insert.
• Turn the power On at both the plug socket and on the Battery Charger. Both
must be turned on for the Battery Charger to be operational.

Ball Launcher Trainer Machine – Instruction Manual V1.0
20
• The lights on the Battery Charger will indicate how much charge time is
remaining. When all the lights on the Battery Charger go out, it means that
your machine is fully charged and ready to use again. Please see further
usage instructions on the rear of the Battery Charger.
• When you remove the Battery Charger plug from the machine, make sure you
push the button marked PUSH on the Control Panel socket to remove it.
There are some very important safety and maintenance guidelines that you should
always follow regarding charging:
Do not overcharge your machine or charge it for longer than 6 hours at a time.
Charging for longer could result in damage to your internal battery or present
a possible fire hazard.
Do not use a Battery Charger other than the Battery Charger that has been
supplied with your Ball Launcher Trainer machine. Using a different charger is
a risk to your health, safety and could damage your machine beyond repair.
This is not covered by warranty.
We recommend that you recharge your Ball Launcher machine before each
time that you use it.
The Battery Charger can get hot when it is charging. You must ensure that it
is placed in a safe upright position and is not immediately close to or covered by
any other objects.
We recommend that you run down and recharge your machine for at least 30
minutes every 2 months to maintain it properly. Otherwise you risk possible
damage to your internal battery which is not covered by warranty.
How To Use An External Power Source?
It is possible to power your Ball Launcher Trainer machine using an external power
source without using the internal battery. This means that it can be plugged directly
into a mains socket or an additional external battery could be used. Using external
power can allow for longer practice sessions and removes the need for recharging the
internal battery between each session. External power sources do not come free with
your machine, they are purchased as an optional add on. When they are available for
purchase, they will be listed on our website products page. If they cannot be seen on
our website product page, it means that they are not officially available or they are still
in development.
You should only ever use Ball Launcher manufactured and approved
alternative power sources. Not doing so presents a serious risk to your health,
safety and could damage your machine.
To use the external power source, follow the below steps:
