Dear owner of GlucoRx Cow Ketone Meter - the system consists of three main products:the
meter,test strips and ketone control key.These products have been designed,tested,and
proven to work together as a system to produce accurate β-Ketone test results.Only use
GlucoRx Cow KetoneTest Strips and ketone control key with the GlucoRx Cow Ketone
Meter.
Intended Use
This system is intended to be used for the quantitative measurement of β-Ketone in fresh
whole blood samples.It should not be used for the diagnosis of diabetes.It allows cow’s
β-Ketone levels to be measured.
This system provides you with plasma equivalent results and are displayed in millimoles of
ketone per litre of blood (mmol/L).

Your system measures the amount of β-Ketone in Cows’ whole blood.Blood is applied to
the absorbent hole on the test strip and is automatically drawn into the reaction cell where
the reaction takes place.
The test strip consists of the following parts:

STEP 1. Set the date
Start with the meter off (no test strip inserted).Press S.
With the year flashing,press M until the correct year appears.
Press S.
With the month flashing,press M until the correct month
appears.Press S.
SETTING THE METER AND DELETING THE MEMORY
Contact Bars
Insert this end of the test strip into the meter.
Push it in firmly until it will go no further.
Test Strip Handle
Hold this part to insert the test strip into the meter slot.
Absorbent Hole
Apply a drop of blood here.
The blood will be automatically absorbed.
ConfirmationWindow
This is where you confirm if enough blood has been
applied to the absorbent hole in the strip.
STEP 2. Setting the time format.
Press M to select the desired time format -- 12h or 24h.Press S.
With the day flashing,press M until the correct day appears.
Press S.
With the hour flashing,press M until the correct hour

With the buzzer setting,press Mto switch between“On”
and“OFF”.Press S.
STEP 5. Deleting the memory
With“dEL”and “ ”on the display,press Mand select
“no”to keep the results in memory then press Sto skip.
To delete all the results,press Mand select“yes” to
delete all the memory records.
1.Start with the meter switched off.Insert a test strip to turn on the meter.The screen will
display code no.and then a flashing“ ”.
The meter provides you with two modes for measuring:General and QC.
You can switch between each mode by:

It is important to make sure that the LCD displayed code is the same as the code on
your ketone test strip vial before testing.Failure to do so will get inaccurate results.
WARING
Checking the Code Number
You need to make sure that the code number displayed
on the meter matches the number on your ketone test
strip vial before you proceed. If the codes do not match,
please stop testing and repeat the calibration procedure.
If the problem persists,contact GlucoRx Customer care for
help.
NOTICE:The code number in this manual is an example
only;it may not be the actual code for your meter.
How to Code Your Meter
1.Insert the ketone code strip when the meter is off.Wait
until the code number appears on the display.
Note:Make sure the code number on the display,code
strip,and ketone test strip vial are all the same.
2.Remove the code strip;the display will show“OK”.This
tells you that the meter has finished coding and is ready
for β-Ketone testing.

STEP 2. Turn on the switch on the front side of the ketone control key.
STEP 3. Read and compare the result
After counting down to 0,the control test result will appear on the display.Compare this
result with the range printed on your test strip vial and it should fall within this range.If
not,please read the instructions again and repeat the control test.With the ketone control
test,make sure you turn off the switch on the front side of the ketone control key after
removing it from your meter.
Every time you perform a ketone control test,you must enter“QC”test mode so that the
test result will NOT mix with the ketone TEST RESULTS stored in your meter memory.
CAUTION
The control test range printed on your ketone test strip vial is for control testing use
only. It is not a recommended range for your cows’ketone levels.
NOTE
When the“ “ symbol appears on the display,press M
and“QC”will appear on the display.When the“QC” sign is
displayed,the meter will store your test result in the
memory under QC.If you decide not to perform a control
test,press Magain and the“QC”sign will disappear.
HOW TO PERFORM A KETONE CONTROL TEST
STEP1. Insert Ketone Control Key
Insert the ketone control key into your meter.The meter
displays the following in sequence:code number and a
flash “ ”.

Calibration
You must calibrate the meter every time you begin to use a new vial of ketone test strips by
setting the meter with the correct code.Test results may be inaccurate if the code number
displayed on the meter does not match the number printed on the strip vial.
BEFORE TESTING

Your meter comes with one 1.5V AAA size alkaline battery.If the low battery symbol“ ”
appears on the screen,this indicates that the power is low and it is time to change the
battery.
• Replacing the battery does not affect the test results stored in memory.
• As with all batteries,this battery should be kept away from children.If swallowed,
promptly seek medical assistance.
• Batteries may leak chemicals if unused for a long time.Remove the battery if you are
not going to use the meter for an extended period (i.e.,3 months or more).
• Properly dispose of the battery according to your local environmental regulations.
NOTE
STEP 3. Exit the memory mode
After displaying the last test result in memory,press the Magain.The meter displays“End”
and then turns off.
• If you wish to exit memory mode before the last result is displayed,press the Mbutton
for 3 seconds.
•When the memory is full,the oldest test result will be replaced by the newest test result.
•The results of the ketone control test and β-Ketone test results will be stored in the
memory.

2. Connecting to a personal computer

To transmit data,follow the instructions provided with the software.Results will be
transmitted with the date and time.Remove the cable and your meter will automatically
switch off.
Replacing the Battery
To replace the battery,make sure that your meter is turned off.
1.Press the edge of the battery cover and lift it up to remove.
2.Remove the old battery and replace with one 1.5V AAA size alkaline battery.
3.Close the battery cover.If the battery is inserted correctly,you will hear a“beep”
afterwards.
The“ ”appears with E-b,Error:
The power is not enough to do a test.Please change the battery
immediately.
While the meter is connecting to your PC,it is unable to perform a β-Ketone test.

Caring for Your Meter
Cleaning
1.To clean the meter exterior,wipe it with a cloth moistened with tap water or a mild
cleaning agent,then dry with a soft dry cloth.Do NOT rinse with water.
2.Do NOT use organic solvents to clean the meter.
Meter Storage
• Storage conditions:-20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F),below 95% relative humidity.
• Always store or transport the meter in its original storage case.
• Avoid dropping and heavy impact.
• Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity.
Meter Disposal
The used meter should be treated as contaminated that may carry a risk of infection during
measurement.The battery in this used meter should be removed and the meter disposed
in accordance with local regulations.
The meter falls outside the scope of the European Directive 2002/96/EC-Directive on waste
electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
MAINTENANCE
The following is a summary of display messages.If your meter displays an error message,
please follow the actions described in the table below.If the problem persists,please
contact GlucoRx Customer care for help.

BATTERY
You can use your meter with a USB cable and the GlucoRx Healthcare Software System to
view test results on your personal computer.To learn more about this Software System or
to obtain a USB cable separately,please contact GlucoRx Customer care for assistance.
Connect the cable to a USB port on your
computer.With the meter switched off,
connect the other end of the USB cable to
the meter data port." USb " will appear on
your meter display,indicating that the
meter is in communication mode.

STEP 1. Enter the memory mode
With the meter turned off,press Mtwice.The first test
result will appear,indicating that you are in the memory
mode.
When using the meter for the first time or if the results
have been deleted,“---”will appear,indicating that there
are no test results in the memory.
Viewing Results
Your Meter stores the 450 most recent β-Ketone test results with date and time in its
memory.You can review the test results with these easy steps.
VIEWING THE METER MEMORY
STEP 4. Get result
The result of your cow‘s β-Ketone test will be stored in the meter memory automatically.
If you do not apply a blood sample to the test strip within 3 minutes,the meter will
automatically turn off.You must remove and reinsert the test strip to start a new test.
NOTE
1.Please do not change your treatment on cows based on the ketone result without
first consulting your veterinarian.
2.Turn the meter off by removing the ketone test strip.Discard the used test strip and
syringe carefully according to your local regulations.
Warning:
If the confirmation window is not filled completely before your meter begins to count
down,do not add more blood to the test strip.Discard the test strip and start again.If you
have trouble filling the test strip,please contact your veterinarian or GlucoRx Customer
care for assistance.
Gently apply a drop of blood to the absorbent hole of the ketone test strip at a tilted angle.
The confirmation window should be completely filled if enough blood sample has been
applied.Do NOT remove the cow‘s root-tail until you hear a beep sound.
STEP 3. Apply blood sample
Draw blood sample from the cow's root-tail.Obtain blood drop volume of at least 0.7 µL.
STEP 1. Insert the test strip to turn on your meter
Wait for the meter to display code no.and then a flashing “ ”.
STEP 2. Select the appropriate measuring mode by pressing M

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF WARRANTY
1. GlucoRx warrants this product to be free of defects in workmanship and materials within the said warranty period
on the Warranty Certificate.
2. During the warranty period if this product is found to be defective, you may send it with the Warranty Certificate to
our office for warranty service. GlucoRx will then repair or replace defective parts, or exchange the whole product as
GlucoRx may choose, with no additional charge to the original owner. After such repair, replacement or exchange,
the product will be warranted for the remaining time of the warranty period.
3. This warranty is valid only if the Warranty Certificate and Warranty Registration Card are duly completed with date
of obtaining product, serial number and if the Warranty Registration Card is sent to our office (or you register on
our website www.glucorx.co.uk) no later than 6 months from the date obtained.
4. This warranty is void if this product has been repaired or serviced by an unauthorised person. This warranty does
not cover defects caused by misuse, abuse, accident, tampering, lack of reasonable care, fire or any other acts
beyond human control.
5. Except as stated in the above paragraphs, GlucoRx disclaim all other warranties, including those of merchantability
of fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the use of this product. GlucoRx shall not be liable for any direct,
consequential or incidental damages arising out of the use or inability to use this product.
