Introduction:
Hello there! We are FIRST Tech Challenge Team 6547--the Cobalt Colts--from Overland
Park, Kansas. This season (2019-2020 FTC Skystone), our team noticed that FIRST has made
publicly available instruction manuals like this one that instruct new FTC teams how to build a
basic drivetrain from either REV Robotics or TETRIX building system components. Our team
is taking steps to mentor and support new STEM, FIRST, and FTC programs within the state
of Kansas and abroad. We know that many new teams may not know how to get started with
robotic construction, so we wanted to provide an extra resource for the teams we are mentoring
directly, along with many more teams who may nd this build guide useful. Our sponsor,
goBilda, agreed to send us a goBilda Master Kit in exchange for our team submitting this build
guide for goBilda to publish. Since we are familiar with goBilda parts, and plan to teach new
teams how to use goBilda’s building system, this was a perfect opportunity for us. As a team,
we have collectively put in hours of building, computer designing, programming, drive-testing,
documentation, and organization to produce this build guide, and we hope that you enjoy
learning how to build a simple drivetrain using parts from the goBilda Master Kit. With that

Socket Head Screw (M4 x 0.7mm,
12mm Length)
INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Connect 1 336mm goRail to 1 432mm Low-Side U-Channel
using 4 M4 12mm Socket Head Screws. Align the goRail with
the rst large hole of the Low-Side U-Channel.
B. Connect the other side of the same 336mm goRail to another
432mm Low Side U-Channel using 4 M4 12mm Socket Head
Screws. Align the goRail with the rst large hole of the Low
Side U-Channel.
C. Connect the remaining 336 goRail to the parallel Low Side
U-Channels using the remaining 8 M4 12mm Socket Head
Screws. Align the goRail with the 7th large hole from the open
end of the Low Side U-Channel on each side. There should be 9
open large holes between the two goRails.

INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Place 1 Washer over 4 of the M4 16mm Socket Head Screws and
thread 1 Washer-Screw assembly into each of the 4 small circular
holes surrounding the large middle hole in one Wheel. Screw
heads should be exposed on the SHALLOW side of the Wheel.
B. Turn the Wheel upside down and attach 1 Sonic Hub to the 4
Screws placed in part A. Sonic hub should be attached on the
DEEPER side of the Wheel. The raised edge of the Sonic Hub
should be placed INSIDE the central hole of the wheel.
C. Repeat parts A and B to construct 2 identical wheel assemblies.

• x2 5202 Series Planetary Gear
Motor (13.7:1 Ratio, 435 RPM)
• x8 2800 Series Socket Head Screw
(M4 x 0.7mm, 8mm)
INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Using M4 8mm Socket Head Screws, mount 1 435rpm Motor
to the Low Side U-Channel as shown. Screw heads should be
exposed on the EXTERIOR of the Low Side U-Channel. Motor
should be mounted in the 4th large hole from the back of the
Low Side U-Channel (the side with the goRail mounted on the
nal hole). Slant at the back of motor (where the wire exits the
motor) should slant DOWNWARD toward the back of the robot.
B. Repeat the previous step for the other motor. Ensure that the
motors are mounted symmetrically, so that the slants on the back
of the motors slant in the same direction.

PARTS REQUIRED:
• x2 Wheel Assemblies from Step 2
INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Slide 1 Wheel Assembly over the exposed D-shaft of the
Motor. Sonic hub (deep side of the wheel) should be placed on
the inside (between the Wheel and the Low Side U-Channel.
D-Shaft should be slid in so its edge is ush with the edge of the
Sonic Hub as viewed from the outside. Tighten BOTH set screws
on the Sonic Hub (this may be dicult to do). Ensure the wheel
can freely spin without catching on any screw heads.
B. Repeat previous for the other wheel.

INSTRUCTIONS:
A. At the front of the robot, attach 1 5 Hole Square Beam to
the very front bottom corner hole of the 17 Hole Low Side
U-Channel using 1 M4 8mm Socket Head Screw. Ensure Square
Beam is straight (parallel to ground).
B. Attach another 5 Hole Square Beam to the very front top corner
hole of the 17 Hole Low Side U-Channel using 1 M4 8mm
Socket Head Screw.
C. Attach 1 5 Hole Low Sie U-Channel to the 2 5 Hole Square
Beams using 2 M4 8mm Socket Head Screws.
D. Repeat the previous steps for the other side.
