ASSEMBLY & OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: PLEASE READ
WARNING: Important! Read and understand these instructions before assembling or using
the shower commode chair. If you do not understand any part of these warnings, cautions
or instructions, contact a healthcare professional for direction in the use of this product.
If the shower commode chair is not properly assembled and installed, personal injury and
damage to the shower commode chair could result.
WARNING: If components are damaged or missing, contact your dealer immediately. DO
NOT use substitute parts. Use only Gendron replacement parts. The use of non-Gendron
replacement parts could cause personal injury and damage to the shower commode chair.
WARNING:
This product has a maximum weight capacity of 750 lb (340.2 kg), EVENLY
DISTRIBUTED.
WARNING: DO NOT lift the shower commode chair while occupied.
WARNING: DO NOT tilt the chair back when occupied.
WARNING: DO NOT lift the chair by any removable parts including armrests and footrests.
Lifting the chair by these parts, even if the chair is not occupied, may cause personal injury
or damage to the chair.
WARNING: Ensure all back straps are properly latched, or serious injury could occur.
WARNING: DO NOT move forward in the seat to reach for objects. Do not pick objects up
from the oor by reaching down between your knees.
WARNING: When entering or exiting the chair, always fold up the footrests.
WARNING: DO NOT stand on the footrests.
WARNING: When entering or exiting the chair, ensure the caster brakes are locked.
WARNING: Ensure shower chair arms are always locked in position.
WARNING: Chair can safely go over a 1 3/4" shower threshold.
WARNING: Do not attempt to go up or down steps in shower commode chair.
WARNING: Do not ride over curbs or obstacles.
WARNING: Do not use the chair outdoors.
WARNING: Do not park the chair on an incline.
WARNING: Do not use the chair on a slope grade steeper than 10%. (A 10% slope grade
means one foot in elevation for every ten feet of slope length.)
WARNING: Wipe the shower chair dry immediately after use.

5226 / 5228 Bariatric Shower Commode Chair
INTENDED USE
The Bariatric Shower Commode Chair is intended for indoor use as a personal hygiene device
and may be positioned over a standard toilet or used as a portable, self-contained commode. The
Rehab Shower Commode is not intended for outdoor use.

1. Unpack: Remove all components from carton.
2. Install Pail: With commode in the upright position, place pail and cover in frame from the back.
3. Back Assembly: Insert the back support lower tubes into
the lower commode frame as shown at right. Align the
two back tube holes with the two lower frame holes on
both sides. Insert locking pins through all four holes and
install retaining clips on each locking pin.
4. Tighten or loosen tensioning back support straps, shown
at middle of page, as desired.
WARNING: Ensure tensioning back support straps and
back support locking pins are securely fastened in
place before use.

OPERATION
Swingaway Footrests
To Install footrests: Place footrest in position on frame and rotate inward until lock levers lock.
To remove footrests: Rotate lock lever toward back, away from footrest, and lift footrest assembly
off frame.
Rear 5" Locking Casters
Locking casters do not swivel. A foot pedal brake is built into both rear locking casters.
To engage the brakes: Press your foot on each brake pedal until it lowers completely.
To disengage the brakes: Lightly kick the brake pedal up into its normal resting position.
Front 5" Swivel Casters
Replace caster wheels that are loose or that utter. The 5” wheel is secured to the frame by a cross
bolt at the stem of the caster. To take off caster, unfasten bolt, then pull out caster. When installing
the caster, ensure that the bolt is fastened tightly to the frame.
Use Commode over Toilet
1. Remove commode pail and lid.
2. Remove back support: remove four retaining clips from locking pins; remove four locking pins
from lower back and frame; remove the back support from the lower frame.
3. Lift toilet bowl seat.
4. Place commode over toilet with opening positioned over the center of the toilet bowl.
Commode is now ready for use. Clean seat with disinfectant after each use.
Use as Bedside Commode
1. Place commode pail on pail supports. Ensure that pail is properly positioned below commode
opening.
2. When user is nished using commode, place commode pail lid over commode pail to contain
odors.
3. Remove pail and lid simultaneously to empty pail. Clean seat and pail with disinfectant after
each use.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Inspect commode frequently to ensure all attaching hardware is tight.
WARNING: Inspect back support for rips, tears, or wear. Replace back support
IMMEDIATELY if any of these conditions exist. Ensure tensioning back support straps are
always securely fastened in place; tighten or loosen support straps as needed.
sNOTICE: Never use organic solvents, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads on any part of
the product.
After each use: Dry with a soft cloth.
Cleaning: Use a mild soap and water solution, rinse with clear water, then dry with a soft cloth.
Ensure that product is well rinsed before using.
Wheels: Check front swivel and rear locking casters occasionally for wear and debris, as those can
affect the performance of brakes and swivelling. Remove debris if found; replace caster if worn.

LIMITED WARRANTY
SCOPE OF WARRANTY
GF Health Products, Inc. (“GF”) warrants to the original purchaser only that it will replace or repair components, at GF’s sole
discretion, that are defective in material or workmanship under normal use and service. All warranties are conditioned upon the
proper use of the products strictly in accordance with good commercial practice and applicable GF instructions and manuals,
including proper use and maintenance. To the extent that a component is warranted by a third party, GF conveys all of its rights
under that warranty to the original purchaser, to the extent permitted. This limited warranty shall only apply to defects that are
reported to GF’s customer service team within the applicable warranty period and which, upon examination by GF or its authorized
representative, prove to be a warranty item. This limited warranty is not transferable.
The warranted components and time period are set forth below:
Frame:.......... ve (5) years
Casters:........ six (6) months
The applicable warranty period shall commence from date of shipment to the original customer, unless there is an expiration date
on the component in which case the warranty shall expire on the earlier of warranty period or the expiration date.
OBTAINING WARRANTY SERVICE
This limited warranty shall only apply to defects that are reported to the Distributor from whom the Customer purchased the
product within the applicable warranty period. If there is not a Distributor, you must contact GF directly by calling 1.770.368.4700,
sending a fax request to 1.770.368.2386, or by e-mailing a request to cs@grahameld.com. Specic directions will be provided by the
Customer Service Representative. Failure to abide by the specic directions will result in denial of the warranty claim.
EXCLUSIONS
The warranty does not cover and GF shall not be liable for the following:
1) Defects, damage, or other conditions caused, in whole or in part, by misuse, abuse, negligence, alteration, accident, freight
damage, tampering or failure to seek and obtain repair or replacement in a timely manner;
2) Products which are not installed, used, or properly cleaned and maintained as required in the ofcial manual for the applicable
product;
3) Products considered to be of a non-durable nature including, but not limited to: lters, fuses, gaskets, lubricants, and charts;
4) Accessories or parts not provided by GF;
5) Charges by anyone for adjustments, repairs, replacement parts, installation or other work performed upon or in connection
with such products which are not expressly authorized in writing, in advance, by GF;
6) Any labor or shipping charges incurred in the replacement part installation or repair;
7) Costs and expenses of regular maintenance and cleaning; and
8) Representations and warranties made by any person or entity other than GF.
ENTIRE WARRANTY, EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES DISCLAIMER
THIS WARRANTY IS GF’S ONLY WARRANTY AND IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. GF MAKES
NO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IF ANY MODEL OR SAMPLE WAS SHOWN TO THE CUSTOMER, SUCH MODEL OR SAMPLE WAS USED
MERELY TO ILLUSTRATE THE GENERAL TYPE AND QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT AND NOT TO REPRESENT THAT THE PRODUCT
WOULD NECESSARILY CONFORM TO THE MODEL OR SAMPLE IN ALL RESPECTS. THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO THE REPAIR
OR REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. GF SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR AND HEREBY DISCLAIMS ANY DIRECT, SPECIAL,
INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF
PROFITS OR INCOME, LOSS OF USE, DOWNTIME, COVER, OR EMPLOYEE OR INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR WAGES, PAYMENTS AND
BENEFITS.
The warranties contained herein contain all the representations and warranties with respect to the subject matter of this
document, and supersede all prior negotiations, agreements and understandings with respect thereto. The recipient of this
document hereby acknowledges and represents that it has not relied on any representation, assertion, guarantee, warranty,
collateral contract or other assurance, except those set out in this document.

2) Freight claims must be notated on the appropriate shipping documents and must be made with immediacy. International,

a denial of the freight claim. GF will assist you in ling the freight claim.

Claims for any short shipment must be made within three (3) days of the invoice date.
