Machine description / specifications
Machine description
The RM 232 Rotary Mulcher, used for the maintenance of trees, bushes and fences along
the road and around fields and forests, etc.
Branches up to a maximum of 40 mm are cut and pulverized in a single workflow. If the
branches are over 40 mm, it may cause damage to the machine, as well as affect the
quality of the cutting.
Appropriate use
Inappropriate use
The rotary mulcher is made for mounting on a hydraulic driven tool arm, or the like. The
rotary mulcher kan be purchased in a right and left version.
The differences between a right and a left model are described in the sections regarding
”Rotational direction”of the blades, ”Belt tension / Inspection”and the use of ”Side
guardings".
The differences on a right and left model are described in the sections on "Direction of
rotation" on the blades, "Brake Voltage / Control" and the use of "Side Shielding".
The machine consists of a self-supporting main frame with 4 rotors with each 6 hardened
blades. The blades overlap each other and are build in 2 layers, they are forcesed in
cutting position by means of the centrifugal action. If the knife is overloaded, they will be
forced back into the rotor.
The blades are mounted with specially designed "knife bolts", as well as special selflocking
nuts (Important! Always use original spareparts). Operation of the Rotors takes place via a
V-Ribbed belt, the overall operation is hydraulically from the driven vehicle.
The rotary mulcher is equipped with an adapter for the use of mounting on various multi
carriers. The construction of the rotors’ installation ensures that if any bolts are detached,
the rotors can not be detached from the main frame. The belt drive is completely covered
by a hinged guarding. Two bolts must be loosened for service access to the belt drive. A
rubber flap kit is installed in order to minimize flying materials during use.

16 Rotary Mulcher RM 232
The range of application and limitations of the machine
The machine's operational reliability can only be guaranteed if used for the intended
purpose. The machine must only be used for the maintenance of trees, bushes and fences
with maximum branch sizes of 4 cm.
For any use of the machine outside what is described in the manual,
GreenTec is not liable for damage as a result - The risk is the sole responsibility of the
user.
The owner / operating manager is responsible for compliance with the
following rules:
•Never use the machine for transporting persons, animals or materials.
•The machine must never be used to cut the "back side" of a hedge so that the rotating
blades will be facing towards the user.
•The machine must under no circumstances be used as a stationary chip mulcher.
•Never use the machine as a lawn mower.
•All limit values must under no circumstances be exceeded (safety distances, pressure,
flow, rev/min, branch thickness, etc.)

18 Rotary Mulcher RM 232
Noise measurement
The following noise measurement was performed on the machine under normal operating
conditions at GreenTec A/S in Denmark, with a Delta OHM sound level meter, type HD
8701.
The energy equivalent A-weighted sound pressure level is below 87 dB (A).
The above-mentioned measurements were performed at a distance of 1 meter from the
tool's critical noise factors and at an altitude of 1.50 meters from the ground when the
machine was not cutting. The noise level changes according to the season and to the
material being cut. Winter season in hardwood gives the highest noise level.
Mounting / dismounting
The rotary mulcher can be mounted on a variety of multi carriers. It is recommended to
use Greentec products, for example the Twiga series, HXF or similar.
The mounting is illustrated and described on a Twiga.
When mounting the machine on other multi carriers than those
recommended above, and/or when using another "adapter", a new risk assessment must
be carried out before startung up.
Note all safety precautions when preparing the vehicle, stabilizing with counterweights,
and connecting hydraulic hoses and flow divider.
Preparation of the vehicle
Before using the Rotary Mulcher it is important that the vehicle is properly prepared. This
is to ensure both maximum safety and optimal operation and stability of the vehicle.
We recommend that the cabin of the vehicle has safety glass
windows and protection installed when using our machines.
Additionally safety nets can be purchased as extra
equipment. Attach the safety net (see drawing) with the
included hooks. Adjust the net so that it completely covers all
windows where the driver has a view of the tool in all work
positions - unless the tractor manufacturer can guarantee that
the existing cover meets the same or higher requirements as
net / polycarbonate glass. If the vehicle is equipped with grating, a frame must be inserted
that can be used for both net and polycarbonate glass.
In general, the driver should use safety equipment to reduce the risk of serious injury such
as: eye protection (Personal eye protection EN1731) or safety goggles (EN166), hearing
protection (EN352), safety helmet (EN297), safety workgloves and highly visible workwear.
If a vehicle without an operating cabin is used, safety glasses/guardings, hearing
protection and helmets must be used. Bare skin must be protected with suitable thick
clothing against the plant residues that can hit the driver of the vehicle.

19
Rotary Mulcher RM 232
The counterweight of the vehicle
It is imperative that stability between the tool and the vehicle is achieved when mounting
extra equipment unto the vehicle.
This is achieved by using counterweights that compensate the weight of the mounted tool.
The rotary mulcher has been tested on the following arm systems: Twiga MID, PRO & Flex
with tractors from 3200 kg, a 280 cm wheelbase and a 250 cm gauge measured from/ to
the outer edge of the tire.
As there are different types of tractor constructions and differences in weight distribution,
the above should be seen as a "guideline". If possible, choose as wide tires as possible to
increase the stability of the vehicle.
Front weights / Side stabilizing elements
The following suggestions are only recommended guidelines, not
instructions, on how to strengthen the vehicle's stability. It is recommended that you
contact your tractor/vehicle manufacturer or local retailer for specific advice on increased
stability. Also, consult a tire specialist for advice and guidance on tire pressure, or other
questions you might have about the vehicle you want to carry the rotary mulcher with.
Depending on the weight and stability of the vehicle carrying the tool, front, side or rear
weights may be necessary in order to maintain a stable rear axle pressure on the opposite
wheels of where the arm is mounted. All factors must be considered in order to match the
machine and tool type to the areas where they are to be used - when driving a mulcher, it
must also be taken into consideration that the machine's central center of gravity will move
constantly during work, while it will not change during transport.
Factors that influence stability
•The center of gravity of the tractor, vehicle and machine combination.
•The geometrical conditions, such as the position of the tool and ballast.
•Weight, track width and the vehicle's wheel base.
•Acceleration, braking, turning and the tool's relative position during these maneuvers.
•The character of the terrain, is it a hilly area, what is the foundation type and its
conditions
•The flexibility of the mounted tool
•Be aware that articulated mini loaders displace the weight balance the sharper they
turn

20 Rotary Mulcher RM 232
Mounting
The mounting of the tool must be done on a flat and safe surface. Always
be very cautious when you attach the tool to the machine, be aware that no one is near the
blades as these, even in fixed position, can cause injuries. For safety reasons, always
wear safety work gloves when working close to the blades of the tool.
Never use the tool on an unstable or unfit vehicle
Never use the the machine if blades are defective or missing
Never use the machine without a rubber flap kit
Regardless of the carrier that is used, make sure that the requirements for the rotary
mulcher are met (see the section ”Specifications”)
Storage and correct lifting
GreenTec recommend storing the rotary
mulcher on a suitable pallet when not in use. If it
is to be moved, use a pallet lift or fork-lift truck.
Alternatively, you can also lift it using an
approved "round sling" or something similar.
The mulcher weighs 310 kg and the round sling
must be approved for minimum this weight, but
preferably more.
Bolted down mounting
Drive slowly forwards, adjust the angle
before the Twiga supporting bracket and
the mulcher are connected.
When the Twiga and the mulcher are bolted
together, the hydraulic hoses are attached.
Clean the couplings. Make sure the
connection and the arrangement of the
hoses is stable.
