Original safety instructions
These safety instructions give a quick overview of the safety precautions to be taken in connection with any work
on this product. Observe these safety instructions during handling, installation, operation, maintenance, service
and repair of this product. These safety instructions are a supplementary document, and all safety instructions
will appear again in the relevant sections of the installation and operating instructions. Keep these safety
instructions at the installation site for future reference.
Intended use
If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection provided by the
equipment may be impaired.

Death or serious personal injury
‐Do not use the SDCS CIU gateway and the dosing pump in areas with explosive risks, such as
explosive gases or dust.
The SDCS CIU gateway is designed for use with a Grundfos DDA-AR-C or DDA-FCM-C (production date
04/2023 or later) dosing pump up to 30 l/h in all material variants.
Applications
SMART Digital CHEMPAIRING Suite 3.0 and the SDCS CIU gateway can be used in the
following stationary dosing applications:
• manual dosing
• proportional dosing (pulse)
• proportional dosing (analog 0/4-20 mA).
One SMART Digital DDA dosing pump per SDCS CIU gateway can be used in the above listed dosing
applications in non-explosive areas.
Typical applications are dosing of biocides in drinking water, dosing of corrosion inhibitors or cooling tower
applications.
Due to the occupancy of the GENIbus port at the DDA, no other CIU/eBox (e.g. fieldbus) can be connected.

‐Human tissue may be heated by RF energy. Position the antenna at a minimum distance of 20 cm
(0.66 feet) from any body parts.
Mounting requirements
Install the product in a way that meets the following requirements:
• We recommend to mount the product on a drywall. Other wall types are also applicable, providing they have
sufficient load-bearing strength.
• Assess the suitability of the wall to ensure that it withstands the forces generated.
• Use a screw or a nail suitable for your wall and intended load.
• The recommended minimum parameters of the screw are the following:
Screw head diameter 7.6 mm (0.3")
Nominal length 40 mm (1.6")
Shank diameter 4 mm (0.16")

• Make sure that there is at least 4 mm distance between the wall and the screw head.
The screw for the wall is not included.

End users must be provided with these installation and operating instructions and operating
conditions to satisfy RF exposure compliance.

uncontrolled environment. This equipment must be installed and operated with a minimum
distance of 20 cm (0.66 feet) between the radiator and your body.

transmitter.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful interference, and
2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired
operation.
Changes or modifications made to this equipment not expressly approved by Grundfos may void the
FCC authorisation to operate this equipment.
EMC statements for USA
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part
15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in
a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not
installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does
cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off
and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

‐Do not unscrew or loosen the blind plugs, the cable glands, or the lids. The ingress protection

‐The SDCS CIU gateway is already prepared for immediate commissioning. Do not open the cover
of the SDCS CIU gateway.
‐Make sure that the power plug delivered with the product is in compliance with local regulations.
‐The protective earth (PE) of the power outlet must be connected to the protective earth of the
product. The plug must have the same PE connection system as the power outlet. If not, use a
suitable adapter if allowed by local regulations.
If the power cable is damaged, the gateway must be replaced.

Disposing of the product
This product or parts of it must be disposed of in an environmentally sound way.
1. Use the public or private waste collection service.
2. If this is not possible, contact the nearest Grundfos company or service workshop.
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on a product means that it
must be disposed of separately from household waste. When a
product marked with this symbol reaches its end of life, take it to a
collection point designated by the local waste disposal authorities.
The separate collection and recycling of such products will help
protect the environment and human health.
