Disconnecting the Control Head
•It is always advisable to remove the Control Head to shorten the warm up period, or at
anytime to protect against theft. This is very important when the temperature is very hot
or very cold.
•Upon shutting off your vehicle, you may disconnect the control head (vehicle “off” ONLY).
•You must always complete the Rolling Retest before unplugging the control head.
•Do Not unplug the control head while the vehicle is running or a violation will be
recorded and may result in premature service.
•When you reconnect the Control Head, you will hear a beep indicating that it has been
reconnected and it is communicating with the base unit (sometimes this may take up to
1 minute). Press the green button and wait while the system gets ready to “Blow Now”.
•*Should the display beep, but not come on and indicate “Warming Up Please Wait
SERV #” after connection and the green button is pushed, disconnect the control head and wait
2 minutes to reconnect.
Special Conditions & Violations
•Should you fail to deliver a proper Rolling Retest, or the system detects a By-Pass, the
service countdown will be reset to 7 or less days and you must get service before the
counter reaches 0.
•You will know this has occurred because the display will indicate days till service as 7 or less
and beep while warming up for a start test.
•The system is always recording your use, BAC level, day, date and time. This information
is reported to the monitoring authority.
•The AMS 2000 is alcohol specific; use of any product containing alcohol will result in a FAIL.
•The system will not shut the vehicle “off” while you are driving.
•Do Not leave the Control Head in direct sunlight, or it may overheat and require you
to cool it off before allowing a test.
Additional Information
•*Should you get the “Pass Start Car” indication, but the vehicle doesn’t crank, check your
vehicle’s battery, or get a jump from another vehicle.
•*Using mouthwash or some toothpastes within 15 minutes prior to delivering a breath
test, may cause a “Fail” indication after breath test delivery (if they have alcohol in them).
•*You may receive an Abort indication, for blowing too hard, too soft, not hard enough, or
long enough. MAINTAIN A STEADY BREATH UNTIL YOU HEAR THE BEEP.
•Retain all receipts for parts or service to your vehicle.
•Replacing your vehicle’s battery will have no effect on the system.
•If you consume alcohol, the system may not allow a “PASS” response the morning after.
•Should the mouth piece break off in the Control Head, Do Not insert a rod or tool into the
back side of the control head. Get a #10 screw about 2 inches long and screw it into the stem of
the broken mouth piece until it’s snug, then pull it out.
