SET UP:
WARNING: Before using the stove in a tent for the first time, place stove (including pipes and any
interior accessories) on a level, firm, non-flammable surface in an open, well ventilated area and build a
fire. Keep feeding the fire until the protective coating has burned off and the stove is no longer
emitting an odor.
WARNING: ALWAYS have fireproof material underneath the stove and proper heat clearance
distance from walls, ceiling and objects. NEVER put the stove on a tent floor or other flammable
material. ALWAYS use stove on a firm, level, fireproof surface.
WARNING: ALWAYS have adequate ventilation in tent when stove is in use to prevent carbon
monoxide (CO) poisoning. The buildup of carbon monoxide can be fatal.
WARNING: EXPLOSION HAZARD: NEVER use flammable liquids or chemicals in your stove. Store any
flammable liquids a proper distance from the stove.
NEVER operate the stove while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
ALWAYS make sure the stove is assembled properly before use.
ALWAYS have the flue pipe stack extend well above the ridge of the tent.
USE AND STORAGE:
ALWAYS wear fire protective clothing, fire retardant gloves and safety glasses when tending the fire to
prevent burns.
WARNING: NEVER burn stove or pipes so hot they become red and dangerous. ALWAYS keep the
feed door closed when in use, unless tending the fire.
WARNING: Stove and connected parts will be hot during and after use. DO NOT TOUCH or have
items near the stove when hot.
WARNING: Remove any creosote buildup in the stove pipe to prevent fires within the stove pipe.
WARNING: NEVER leave a wood stove burning unattended. NEVER leave children or pets
unattended with the wood stove in use.
NEVER burn other materials other than wood in the stove. ONLY burn seasoned (dry for over 1 year
with less than 20% humidity by weight) wood in the stove. Hard, dry woods are the most efficient for
heating in the stove.
NEVER use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid or similar liquids to start
or ‘freshen up’ a fire.
NEVER use chemicals or fluids in the fire or embers.
NEVER store wood, flammable/combustible vapors or liquids near the stove.
ALWAYS remove ash from the stove before storing away. Ash will retain moisture and will cause rust to
form
