rear of the base unit housing.

4. Insert the small plug of the phone cord into the socket at the
bottom of the base unit housing.
5. Insert the phone cord into the cable channel.
6. Connect the phone plug to the phone socket.
Using the handset
1. The display is protected by a piece of plastic film. Please remove the

3. Insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
4. Close the battery compartment – fit the cover, offset by about 3 mm
downward, and push upward until it clicks into place.
5. Place the handset on the base unit and charge the batteries. Leave the
handset in the base unit for approx. 16 hours to charge the batteries.
6. The handset registers itself automatically.
12

put the telephone to your ear.
•Other people nearby can also hear and take part in the call.
•You have your hands free for such things as making notes.

During a call, either in the handsfree or earpiece
mode, you can switch the microphone of the
telephone to ‘mute’, so that you can speak to another
person present without the other person on the
telephone being able to hear.

External convenience functions
The convenience functions Call waiting, Transfer, Return, Accept other
call and Three-party conference must be applied for from your service
provider. In the case of Deutsche Telekom AG, these services are provided
under the designation of T-Net functions, and can only be used at a main
connection, if you have set the Flash time to 300 ms. You can also use these
functions if you are operating your telephone on a modern PABX system. Set
the Flash time as specified in the operating instructions of the PABX system
– usually 100 (90) ms. Further details can also be taken from the operating
instructions of your PABX system. The following description of the
convenience functions does not therefore have to match the specifications of
your PABX system.
Call waiting and transfer
You have your telephone connected to a main connection
provided by Deutsche Telekom, and during a call, you hear the
‘Call waiting’ tone.
Press the R-button in order to put the current call on hold. You
now hear the special dial tone. You can now answer the
second call by pressing button 2. To return to the first call,
simply press the R-button again and then press button 2 again.
You will now be reconnected to the first caller, and the second
call will be on hold. You can repeat this procedure as often as
required to switch between the two calls.
If you are operating your telephone on a PABX system, then
proceed in the same way, although press the R-button again
instead of pressing button 2.
19

Call back and transfer
With the function Call back/Transfer, you can carry out two
calls alternately, without either caller being able to hear what
you are saying to the other. You can accept a “waiting” call, or
call a second number yourself. This function also forms the
basis for a three-party conference call.
You are making one call, and need to obtain information from a
second subscriber (internal or external). Press the R-button in
order to put the first call on hold.
You now hear the special dial tone. Dial the call number of the
second subscriber, and carry out this call.
You can out the second call on hold by pressing the R-button.
Now press button 2 to return to the first call. You can now
switch as required between the two calls.
If you now want to end the call after your enquiry to the second
subscriber, press the R-button and then button 1. The
connection to the second subscriber will now be broken.
Three-party conference call
With this function, you can call two people at the same time,
with everyone being able to take part in the conversation. The
connection is made as described under Call waiting/Call
back/Transfer.
20
When being used on a PABX system, you can
always switch between the two calls by pressing the
R-button twice. Both connections will be broken by
pressing the “on-hook” button on the handset.
