CCD DataAcquisition Module C9266-03 CCD DataAcquisition Module C9266-04

CCD Data Acquisition Module C9266-03/C9266-04
1
1. Overview
The C9266-03/C9266-04 CCD Data Acquisition Module was designed for use with
Hamamatsu CCD area image sensors (S10810, S10811) specifically developed for X-ray
detection. Combining the C9266-03/C9266-04 with any one of those CCD area image sensors
creates the ideal tool for X-imaging and non-destructive inspection applications.
The C9266-03/C9266-04 CCD Data Acquisition Module consists of a CCD driver, analog
video processor (12 bit ADC), timing pulse generator, control circuit and power supply circuit.
When an analog signal is input from the CCD area image sensor, the C9266-03/C9266-04
converts that analog signal to a digital signal and outputs it to an external device such as a PC
(personal computer). The C9266-03/C9266-04 easily connects to the PC through a USB
connector (conforming to USB 2.0) provided on the rear panel of the C9266-03/C9266-04,
allowing control and data acquisition by the PC. Power to the C9266-03/C9266-04 is supplied
through the USB connector, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The
C9266-03/C9266-04 has a 36-pin MDR connector for easy connection to a CCD area image
sensor and only the C9266-03 has a BNC connector for input of external trigger signals. Even
with all these functions, the C9266-03/C9266-04 still offers compact size, light weight, and
easy use.
The C9266-03/C9266-04 has five data acquisition modes. One is an internal sync mode
(Internal mode) that acquires data with a trigger signal generated by the application software.
The other four are external sync modes (External Trigger modes) in which data is acquired
while synchronized with a trigger signal generated from an external device. Select the data
acquisition mode that best suits your application.
Besides external trigger modes, the C9266-03/C9266-04 has versatile functions like gain and
offset adjustment as well as subarray binning (2x2) to reduce the amount of image data and
therefore boost the data transfer speed.
The C9266-03/C9266-04 has 4 operating modes ("Suspend", "Idle/Sleep", "Standby", "Data
Transfer") to make the C9266-03/C9266-04 easier to use. In "Idle/Sleep" mode, the CCD area
image sensor can be replaced with different types of CCD image sensors with the
C9266-03/C9266-04 still connected to the PC. The LED display on the C9266-03/C9266-04
lets you know which operating mode is currently selected.
The C9266-03/C9266-04 comes with application software (C9266DCamAPL) that runs on
Windows 2000 or XP and is specifically programmed to operate the C9266-03/C9266-04 from
the PC. The application software also includes a function library (DCamLIB.DLL) exclusively
for the C9266-03/C9266-04, allowing you to develop your own software more efficiently.

(1) CCD connector
This is a high-density 35-pin MDR connector for the Hamamatsu CCD area image sensor
(S10810, S10811). A bias voltage and clock signal are fed to the CCD through this
connector. Analog video signals from the CCD proportional to X-ray intensity levels and
synchronized timing signals (H-CMOS logic level signals) are input to this connector.
(2) USB connector
This is an industrial standard USB connector for connecting to a PC. This connector
interface conforms to USB 2.0. Various C9266-03/C9266-04 settings can be made from
the PC through this interface. X-ray image data converted to digital signals are sent to the
PC.

Lights out Suspend mode
Fast frequency blinking Idle/Sleep mode
Lights on Standby mode
Low frequency blinking Data Transfer mode
(4) EXT.TRIG connector
An industrial standard BNC connector used to input external trigger signals when the
C9266-03 is operated in the External Trigger mode. The input signal should be an
H-CMOS level pulse. The internal circuits are optically isolated.
There is not the BNC connector in the C9266-04.
(5) Power switch
The power switch used to turn the C9266-03 on or off. Select how power is supplied by
using the switch position as shown in the table below.
Switch position Description
Left Power ON
(Power is supplied through USB connector.)
Middle Power OFF
Right Power ON
(Power is supplied from external power supply.)
Please take note of the maximum current when power is supplied through the USB
connector.
There is not the power switch in the C9266-04.
(6) DC +5V
A power input connector when using an external power supply. This is an industrial
standard DC power jack (compatible with EIAJ RC5320A, voltage class 2). The center
contact of this jack is positive (+) and the outside is negative (-). Use an AC adapter of
+4.5V/(1A or more) when supplying power through this jack. And if use another power
source, set the voltage at +5V.
There is not the power input connector in the C9266-04.
