. Recommendations
Like all micro-mechanical precision instruments, your
Hamilton watch should be checked at least once
every two years. Entrust your watch to an authorized
Hamilton repair center or to any other professional
watch service.
To keep your watch water-resistant, make sure that
its sealing features are tested at every check-up.
Do not move the crown when you are in water.
Rinse o your watch with fresh water after any immer-
sion in seawater.
Dry your watch whenever it gets wet.
Have your watch checked for water-resistance by an
authorized Hamilton retailer or by any other profes-
sional watch service each time the case is opened.

The water-resistance of your watch is indicated on the
case back.

. Leather straps
Hamilton recommends that you follow the steps below
in order to preserve the condition of your leather strap
for as long as possible:
Avoid contact with water and dampness to prevent
discoloration and deformation.
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent the
color from fading.
Do not forget that leather is permeable! Therefore
avoid contact with greasy substances and cosmetic
products.
If you have a problem with your leather strap, please
contact your nearest Hamilton retailer.
. Batteries
Watch batteries can last between two and ve years,
depending on the watch type, its size and the amount
of energy used by the various functions. If the seconds
hand starts to move in -second steps, the battery
should be changed by your Hamilton agent.
Replacing the battery
We recommend that you contact an approved Hamilton
service centre or authorised Hamilton retailer, as they
are equipped with the tools and apparatus required to
carry out the work and the necessary checks in a profes-
sional manner. A worn-out battery should be replaced
immediately in order to reduce the risk of leakage and
consequent damage to the movement.

To prevent malfunctions of your watch avoid coming
into contact with magnetic elds such as those of mag-
nets, loudspeakers, cell phones, refrigerators, etc.

Setting the time
 Pull out the crown Ccompletely to position (p): the
seconds hand stops.
. Set the time by turning the crown in the desired
direction.
 Push the crown back in completely to position (p):
the seconds hand starts again, allowing perfect
synchronization with a time signal.
Setting the date
 Pull out the crown C to position (p).
. Turn the crown clockwise to set the date.
 Push the crown back in completely to position (p).
Setting the time zone and the date
 Pull out the crown Cto position (p).
. Turn the crown in the desired direction to set the hour
hand. The hour hand moves forwards or backwards
in one-hour jumps. The date changes each time the
hour hand passes  o’clock midnight.
 Push the crown back in completely to position (p).
Setting the counters to zero
-minute counter
 Pull out the crown C to position (p).
. Set the -minute counter to zero by pressing button
B.
-second counter
 Pull out the crown C to position (p).
. Set the -second counter to zero by pressing button
A.

end of the last measurement, the chronograph displays
the total of all the times measured. Press button Bto
reset to zero.
For lasting, faultless and precise functioning of your
watch, you should read and follow the instructions in
this manual. These apply to all mechanical (manual or
automatic), quartz and chronograph (quartz and au-
tomatic) watches from Hamilton. The following pages
give instructions for the general settings of the time,
date and day and time zone, which are applicable ac-
cording to how many of these functions your model
has. Watches with special functions are explained sub-
sequently according to their movement.

. Quartz watch
Quartz movement. The electrical energy provided by the
battery causes the quartz in the interior of the watch
movement to oscillate , times per second. This
high frequency gives great accuracy.The seconds hand
advances in steps. Important: Do not leave the crown
C in position (p) for longer than  minutes, as this
might interfere with the time function.


Caliber .
GMT Adjustment of time zonesT on the dial
. Unscrew the crown Eand pull it out to be able to
set the interior rotating bezel.
.Set the time zone T by turning the crown till the
bezel indicates the time dierence between your local
time and T time by pointing to o’clock.
 Push the crown back in completely and screw it down.
Example: Your local time is  a.m. and the T time is
 p.m., so the time dierence is  hours. Set the bezel
so that the time dierence  is pointing to o’clock.
The T time will be displayed by the hour hand ( p.m.).
. Mechanical watch
Mechanical movement. The most traditional of move-
ments in watchmaking is the mechanical one. To en-
sure that the watch does not stop, it must be wound
regularly – once a day.


. Automatic watch
Automatic movement. The mechanism of the watch
includes an oscillating rotor that winds the mainspring
via the motion of your wrist. The running reserve is ap-
proximately  hours ( hours for the caliber H and
H). If necessary, the watch may be rewound manually.
With most of our models, the beauty of the inner work-
ing of the watch movement can be admired through
the transparent case back.



. Screw-in crown
On certain models the crown C is screwed in to guar-
antee optimal water-resistance. It must be unscrewed
to make adjustments. After adjustments make sure it
is screwed in again.
> Please note that water-resistance is only guaranteed
when the crown is screwed in.
. Telemeter
Scale showing the distance traveled by a sound in a
certain time. For example, to measure the distance
separating you from a storm, start the chronograph
when you see lightning and stop it when you hear the
resulting thunder. A measurement of  seconds gives
a distance of  km on the telemeter scale.
. Tachymeter or Tachymiler
Scale showing the average speed of a vehicle. Using
the chronograph Start-Stop function, measure the time
taken to travel  km or  mile. The average speed can be
read on the tachymeter or tachymiler scale.
Example:  km or  mile traveled in  seconds = 
km/h or  miles/h
. Helium valve
The helium valve is intended for divers spending several
days aboard a diving bell. The air in diving stations or
diving bells is enriched with helium to facilitate breath-
ing. Helium has the capacity to penetrate into the watch
through the joints. But unfortunately it does not escape
the same way.To permit the excess pressure to escape,
the helium valve is opened during ascent.
. EOL function
Indication of the end of battery life. If the seconds hand
starts to move in -second steps, the battery should be
changed by your Hamilton agent.
. Power reserve
Indicator for checking the running reserve of your au-
tomatic watch.
. GMT
Greenwich Mean Time is the global time system that
remains the same all year round. GMT in the watch in-
dustry refers to a timepiece that shows two or more
dierent time zones on the dial at the same time.
. Moon phases
An indicator that keeps track of the phases of the moon.
Once set, the moon phase indicator accurately displays
the phases of the moon.
. COSC
“Contrôle Ociel Suisse des Chronomètres”(ocial
Swiss chronometer-testing institute) - a Swiss testing
laboratory that certies watches, or rather their move-
ments, as“chronometer”. Each movement is individually
tested over a -day period in dierent positions and
temperatures, and passes only if it shows a loss of fewer
than ve seconds per day.
. Elapsed time on the exterior rotating
bezel
Scale for measuring elapsed time.
 Turn the bezel F counterclockwise until the arrow
points to the minutes hand.
. The minutes hand will indicate the elapsed time on
the graduated scale of the rotating bezel.
. Countdown function
 Unscrew the crown.
. Turn the crown so that the desired countdown time
points at the minutes hand.
 Screw the crown in again.
 The countdown is at zero when the minutes hand
is located over the marking (in the form of a watch
hand).

. Recommandations
Votre montre Hamilton, comme toute micromécanique
de précision, doit être contrôlée au moins une fois tous
les deux ans. Veillez à ne coner votre montre qu’à votre
concessionnaire Hamilton ou à tout autre revendeur
professionnel.
Pour préserver l’étanchéité de votre montre, assurez-
vous que ses dispositifs d’étanchéité sont vériés lors
de chaque contrôle.
Ne touchez pas à la couronne lorsque vous êtes dans
l’eau.
Rincez votre montre avec de l’eau douce après chaque
immersion dans de l’eau de mer.
Séchez votre montre chaque fois qu’elle présente des
traces d’humidité.
 Demandez à votre concessionnaire Hamilton ou à tout
autre revendeur professionnel de vérier l’étanchéité de
votre montre après toute ouverture du boîtier.

La durée de vie d’une pile peut varier de deux ans à cinq
ans, suivant le type de mouvement ainsi qu’à la quantité
d’énergie utilisée par les diérentes fonctions. Si l’aiguille
des secondes se déplace par paliers de  secondes, cela
signie qu’il est temps de faire changer la pile par votre
agent Hamilton.
Echange de la pile
Nous vous recommandons de contacter un centre de ser-
vice Hamilton agréé ou un vendeur Hamilton autorisé.
Ils disposent de l’outillage et des appareils requis pour
