Upon initial system power up, the rst screen will display:

Note: Navigating the menus with the Handheld is done by using the left and right arrow keys to move the
cursor, and then using the ‘Y’ key to enter the menu. On the main menus, you can also use the corresponding
number key to enter that menu.
For menus with more than ten (10) options, the controller will pause momentarily. The rst number must be
entered to allow for the second number of the menu option.
When entering data, the ‘Y’ key will allow scrolling up through the alphanumeric characters, and the ‘N’ key
will scroll down. The arrows will move the cursor to the next space. In the appropriate menus, the F4 key acts
as the ‘Save’ key. Always hit F4 after making a change to save the setting.
Pressing the ESC button allows you to back out of any menu.

• Press 1 to enter Timer Type
This menu gives you the option to select Count Up or Count Down on your timer display.
Using the arrow keys, move the marker to the desired option and Press F4 to save.
In most scenarios, you will be using Count Up if you are allowing pre authorized transactions. If you are
doing a at rate on your timer, you can use either Count Up or Count Down.
Application – Card Timer

• Press 2 to enter Card Timer
Some menus will have different numbers depending on if this is a DTT or DTI controller.
• The next screen displays:

• Press 1 for Card Start Amount
Card Start Amount is the minimum amount that the DTI/DTT will immediately charge the credit card
to start the timer. Enter the desired amount and press F4 to save.
• Press 2 for Max Charge Amount
Max Charge Amount is the maximum amount that the DTI/DTT will charge a credit card before the
customer would have to swipe their card again to start the timer a second time. Enter the desired
amount and press F4 to save.

Application – Card Timer (continued)
• Press 3 for Card Start Time
Card Start Time is the amount of time the customer will get on the Timer for the value you selected
in the ‘Card Start Amount’ menu; this is measured in seconds. Enter the desired amount and press F4
to save.
• Press 4 for Increment Amount
Increment Amount is the amount charged to the transaction total as the timer slowly climbs toward
the “Max Charge Amount”. This menu works directly with the next menu, “Increment Time”. Enter the
desired amount and press F4 to save.
• Press 5 for Increment Time
Increment Time is how many seconds the DTI/DTT will charge the “Increment Amount”. After the “Card
Start Time” has ran out, the DTI/DTT will charge the “Increment Amount” every number of seconds you
enter for “Increment Time” until it reaches the “Max Charge Amount” or until the customer manually
stops the DTI/DTT; this is measured in seconds. Enter the desired amount and press F4 to save.
• Press 6 or ESC to go Back
Application – Cash Timer
Main Menu/Application/Cash Timer
• Press 3 to enter Cash Timer (this is only available on the DTI, not the DTT)
• The next screen displays:
1. Cash Start Amount
2. Cash Start Time
3. Time Per Coin

• Press 1 to enter Cash Start Amount
Cash Start Amount is the amount of money that needs to be inserted into the DTI before the timer will
start counting. Enter the desired amount and press F4 to save.
• Press 2 to enter Cash Start Time
Cash Start Time is the amount of time given for the initial amount entered in the “Cash Start Amount”
menu; this is measured in seconds. Enter the desired amount and press F4 to save.
• Press 3 to enter Time Per Coin
Time Per Coin is how much additional time the DTI will add to the display for every additional coin
accepted; this is measured in seconds. Enter the desired amount and press F4 to save.

Application – Timer Start Delay

• Press 4 to enter Timer Start Delay
Timer Start Delay allows you to determine how long of a wait before the DTI/DTT activates the timer’s
selector switch. In most scenarios, the default value is sufcient. If you wish to change it, set the desired
amount and press F4 to save.

Welcome prompts are assigned defaults by Hamilton. If you wish to customize these to your specic location,
this is where changes are made. The display on the DTI/DTT is a 2-line display, and will cycle between 3
different screens before looping back around to the rst original screen.
•Press 2 to enter Welcome Prompts.
• The next screen displays:

This menu allows you to decide if you want the rst top line of the welcome message to show on the
display of the DTI/DTT. Using the arrow keys, make your selection and Press F4 to save.
• Press 2 to enter Edit Line Text
• The next screen displays:

If you want to choose one of the existing options that Hamilton has pre-programmed into the DTI/
DTT, press 1. Make your selection using the arrow keys and Press F4 to save.

If you want to display a custom message, press 2. Using the “Y” and “N” key to scroll through all the
alphanumeric options, and the arrows to move the cursor, design your message and Press F4 to save.
• Press 3 to go Back

Repeat the above options for every line you wish to display on the DTI/DTT. When completed, Press 7
to go Back again.
Application – Discounts
Main Menu/Application/Discounts
This menu is only applicable if you use discount tokens at the location that your customers can use to start
the timer.
• Press 3 to enter Discounts
• The next screen displays:

Set the value of the token coin using the keypad and then Press F4 to save.

System – Kiosk
Main Menu/System/Kiosk
• Press 1 for Kiosk
• The next screen displays:
1. Set Site ID
2. Set Terminal ID
3. Set Terminal Name
4. Set Serial Number
5. Equipment Type

• Press 1 for Set Site ID
Site ID allows you to name the location that this DTI/DTT is installed at. This isn’t a required eld, but
does add some additional information when remotely accessing the bay. If you wish to add info to this
eld, use the “Y” and “N” keys on the keypad to make character selections and the arrow keys to move
the cursor. Press F4 to save.
• Press 2 for Set Terminal ID
Terminal ID is the number that species what device you are working on. Its mainly for audit reporting
in Hosted Solutions, and isn’t required otherwise. If you set the Terminal IDs on all of your devices,
ensure that none of them are using the same number for better organization. Press F4 to save.
• Press 3 for Set Terminal Name
Terminal Name is the dening name of the DTI/DTT controller so you can identify the bay at the D.A.N.
and Hosted Solutions. You can set this name either here with the Handheld or inside at the D.A.N.
once the bay is communicating on the network. If you wish to add info to this eld, use the “Y” and
“N” keys on the keypad to make character selections and the arrow keys to move the cursor. Press F4
to save.
• Press 4 for Serial Number
Serial Number lets you add the serial number of the DTI/DTT controller for easier identication
elsewhere. If you wish to add info to this eld, use the “Y” and “N” keys on the keypad to make character
selections and the arrow keys to move the cursor. Press F4 to save.
• Press 5 for Equipment Type
This menu lets you further organize the DTI/DTT by specifying the type of equipment you have it
installed at. Use the arrows to move the marker to your desired option and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 6 to go Back

System – Payout Options

• Press 2 to enter Payout Options
• The next screen displays:
1. Serial Payout
2. Pulse Payout
3. Time Payout
4. Back
These three menu options all can be enabled or disabled. Depending on the hardware that the DTI/
DTT is being attached to, the order in which these are enabled/disabled will differ. Check with the
hardware device manufacturer for more information.
Press the corresponding number of each payout type, then use the arrow keys to move the marker to
enable or disable. When done with all 3 options, Press F4 to save.
• Press 4 to go Back.

• Press 3 for Network
• The next screen displays:
1. LAN
2. Listeners

• Press 1 for LAN
• The next screen displays:
1. DHCP Enable
2. Controller IP Addr
3. Edit Network Mask
4. Edit Gateway Addr
5. Edit DNS Addr
6. Edit Domain Name

• Press 1 for DHCP Enable
DHCP Enable lets you assign an unchanging IP (DHCP OFF) to the DTI/DTT, or allow your network
determine its network conguration (DHCP ON). If you want remote access to the DTI/DTT, it is
recommended that you set DHCP to OFF and enter the proper network information in the menus to
follow. Use the arrow keys to move the marker and Press F4 to save.
The remaining menus require DHCP to be OFF.

• Press 2 for Controller IP Addr.
Controller IP is where you specify what the unchanging IP address for the DTI/DTT controller will be.
When entering this, ensure that the number DOES NOT match any of the other IP addresses of any
other devices on your network. If you are not sure, please consult with an IT professional. Use the
keypad to enter the appropriate address and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 3 for Edit Network Mask
The Network Mask menu is where the Sub net Mask for your network will be entered. Use the keypad
to enter the appropriate address and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 4 for Edit Gateway Addr.
Gateway Address is where you specify the IP address of the network gateway, or in most cases, the
IP address of the router that the DTI/DTT is connecting to. Use the keypad to enter the appropriate
address and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 5 for Edit DNS Addr.
DNS address is where you specify the preferred DNS IP that the DTI/DTT will be using. In many cases,
this IP will be the same as what you enter in the “Gateway Address” menu. Use the keypad to enter the
appropriate address and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 6 for Edit Domain Name
The Domain Name is the name of the network that the DTI/DTT is being connected to. This is more for
organization and is usually not required.
• Press 7 to go Back
• Press 2 for Listeners
• Press 1 for Listeners
• Press 2 for Edit Listeners
• Press 1 for Listener 1
• The next screen displays:
1. Set IP Address
2. Set Port Number

• Press 1 to enter Set IP Address
This is where you enter the IP address for the D.A.N. system. When logged into your D.A.N., go to Setup
> Network Info. The top listed IP address should be the IP address that the D.A.N. is using on your
network. Use the keypad to enter the appropriate address and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 2 to Set Port Number
Conrm that the port reads “8051”. If not, use the keypad to ensure that it currently has a port number
of 8051. If it already displays this, Press F4 to save.

This menu lets you determine if you want to enable credit cards on the DTI/DTT. By default, its set to
ENABLE. If you wish to change this, use the arrow keys to move the marker and Press F4 to save.
• Press 2 for Gift Card Enable
Gift Card Enable lets you change your acceptance of Hamilton Gift Cards at the DTI/DTT. By default,
this is set to DISABLE. If you wish to change this, use the arrow keys to move the marker and Press F4
to save.

• Press 3 to enter Accepted Tracks
Accepted Tracks determines what data the DTI/DTT will send back to the D.A.N. system. Currently, this
setting is modied in the D.A.N. and in the DTI/DTT should be left at “Track 1 & Track 2”. If this setting
needs to be modied to match that, use the arrow keys to move the marker and Press F4 to save.
• Press 4 for Pre-Auth Amount
This menu lets you determine if you want to preauthorize a customer’s credit card for $1, or if you want
to preauthorize for the max total charge amount and then have their bank refund the remainder of
any unused credit at the end of the transaction. If you wish to change this, use the arrow keys to move
the marker and Press F4 to save.
• Press 5 for Back
• Press 2 for Surcharge
• The next screen displays:
1. Surcharge Enable
2. Rate
3. Back
• Press 1 to enter Surcharge Enable
Enabling surcharge adds an additional fee onto the customers card transaction; this allows you to put
the credit card transaction fees being charged by your merchant onto the customer instead of you
paying the merchant directly. If you wish to change this, use the arrow keys to move the marker and
Press F4 to save.
• Press 2 for Rate
The Rate menu is where you would enter the percentage to charge the customers card to match the
rate your merchant currently charges you. Enter the percentage and then Press F4 to save.
• Press 3 to go Back.
• Press 3 for Back.

*The DTI/DTT already has a default user created. Users on the DTI/DTT allow you to log into the DTI/
DTT with the Handheld or remotely from a PC located inside that is attached to the same network.
• Press 1 for Add User
• The next screen displays:
1. User 3

*The DTI/DTT comes with two (2) users dened. User 1 is congured with admin rights, and can only
be used locally with the Handheld programmer. User 2 is initially used by the installer/distributor to
allow conguration for the Remote Conguration pages. After initial setup, User 2 should be modied
to your own unique settings. You must remember these settings to allow remote conguration.
• Press 1 to create User 3
The Handheld will then ask for a “User Code”. This is a unique number 2-digit that identies the user
being created (each user must have a unique number). Enter a number and Press F4 to save.
Next screen asks you to enter the name of the user. Using the “Y” and “N” key, scroll through the
alphanumeric characters until you have entered the desired name. Press F4 to save.
You must then create a password - a 5-digit number. This password is for when you are logging into
the DTI/DTT using the Handheld programmer.
Next is the remote password. This password is alphanumeric and can be modied using the “Y” and
“N” key to scroll, the arrow to move the cursor, and Press F4 to save.
Finally, the DTI/DTT asks for the email address for the user. The email address is what you will use when
trying to remotely access the DTI/DTT. Use the “Y” and “N” key to scroll up and down alphanumerically,
the arrow to move the cursor, and Press F4 to save.

• The display should now show the User menu again:
1. Add User
2. Edit User
3. Delete User

If you wish to add more users, repeat the previous steps for the remaining available users.
• Press 2 to Edit User
• The next screen displays:

• Press 3 to select User 3
• The next screen displays:

• Press 1 for User Enable
This menu will allow you to disable a user without having to completely delete the user. Use the arrows
to move the marker and then Press F4 to save.
Options 2 through 5 will allow you to edit the existing user settings exactly like the user creation
process. Please refer to those instructions for the individual menus.
• Press 6 to enter Rights
• The next screen displays:
1. Admin
2. Audits
3. Congure
4. Remote

*Note: if Admin is enabled, the individual rights will not be shown. If Admin is OFF, rights for each
individual user will be shown. These can be enabled/disabled individually.

Press the corresponding number to enter the menu; you will then be given the option to enable or
disable the option. Use the arrow keys to move the marker and then Press F4 to save.
Admin rights allow the user to do anything they want with no restrictions.
Audits allow the user to view any of the nancials for the DTI/DTT.
Congure allows the user to change settings, pricing, etc.
Remote allows the user to access the DTI/DTT remotely from a different PC on location.
• Press 5 to go Back
• Press 7 to go Back

• The next screen displays:
1. User 2

• Press 2 to delete User 3
Note: if you did not create a “User 3”, you can skip these steps.
User 2 can be deleted if desired, but this would prevent the kiosk from being congured remotely
(it could only be programmed locally with the User 1 prole and the Handheld programmer).
User 2 must be recreated with remote rights enabled if remote access is desired again.
Use the arrow keys to select the “Yes” or “No” option, then Press F4 to save your choice.
• The next screen displays:

You will be given several country options; using the arrow keys, move the marker to the country that
the equipment is in and then Press F4 to save.
The next screen will; display several different time zone choices. Using the arrow keys, move the marker
to the Time zone that the equipment is in and then Press F4 to save.
• The next screen displays:
1. Set Region
2. Set Time Zone
3. Set Date & Time
4. Back
Since we set the Time Zone when we set the region, we can jump to the following option. If you need
to modify your Time zone, Press “2” and follow the instructions above.
