"Semi-OSD"and "FulI-OSD."Whenmaking
configurationadjustments,it is recommended
that the FulI-OSDmodebe used.Thiswill place

Making ConfigurationAdjustments

configurationsfor the bassmanagement,digital
input,surroundmode,delaytimes,crossover
frequencyand output levelsfor eachinput
source.Thisflexibility enablesyouto
custom-tailorthe way in which youlistento
eachsourceandhavetheAVR220 memorize
thosesettings.Thismeans,for example,that
you mayusedifferentoutput levelsor trimsfor
differentsources,or setdifferentspeakercon-
figurationswith the resultantchangesto the
bassmanagementsystem.Oncethesesettings
aremade,theywill automaticallybe recalled
wheneveryouselectthat input.
Thefactorydefaultsettingsfor theAVR220
haveall inputsconfiguredfor ananalogsource,

connected.Beforeusingthe unit, youwill
probablywantto changethe settingsfor most
inputssothat theyareproperlyconfiguredto
reflectthe useof digital or analoginputs,the

modespecifics.Rememberthat sincethe
AVR220 memorizesthe settingsfor eachinput
individually,youwill needto makethese

Tomakethisprocessasquickand aseasyas
possible,we suggestthat youusethe fulI-OSD

througheachinput.Onceyouhavecompleted
the settingsfor the first input, manysettings
maybe duplicatedforthe remaininginputs.Itis

WhenSMALL isselected,low-frequency
center-channelsoundsbelowlOOHzwill besent
onlyto thesubwooferoutput. Notethat if you
choosethisoptionandthereisnosubwoofer
connected,youwill not hearanylow-frequency
soundsfrom thecenter-channelspeaker.
WhenLARGE isselected,afull-rangeoutput
will be sentto the centerspeakeroutput, and
NOcenter-channelsignalwill besentto the
subwooferoutput.
NOTE:If youchooseLogic7 asthe surround
modefor the particularinputsourcefor which
youareconfiguringyourspeakers,the AVR220
will not makethe LARGEoption availablefor
the centerspeaker.Thisisdue to the require-
mentsof Logic7 processing,anddoesnot indi-
cateaproblemwith yourreceiver.
WhenNONE isselected,nosignalswill be
sentto the center-channeloutput. Thereceiver
will operatein a "phantom" center-channel
modeandcenter-channelinformationwill
besentto the left and rightfront-channel
outputs.Whenonlyfront left and rightspeak-
ersareused,with nocenteror surroundspeak-
ers,VMAxisa goodalternativemode.
Whenyou havecompletedyourselectionfor
the centerchannel,pressthe • Button
onthe remoteto changethe cursorto
SURROUND.

to selecttheoptionthat bestdescribesthe sur-
roundspeakersin yoursystembasedonthe

WhenSMAL L isselected,low-frequency
surround-channelsoundsbelow lOOHzwill be
sentto the subwooferoutput only.Notethat if
youchoosethis option andthere isnosub-
wooferconnected,youwill not hearany low-
frequencysoundsfrom the surroundspeakers.
WhenLARGE isselected,afull-rangeoutput
will besentto the surround-channeloutputs,
andNOsurround-channelsignalswill besent
to the subwooferoutput.
WhenN0 NE isselected,surround-sound
informationwill besplit betweenthe front left
andrightoutputs.Notethatfor optimalper-
formancewhenno surroundspeakersarein
use,the Dolby3 Stereomodeshouldbe used
insteadof DolbyProLogicII.Ifonlyfront left
andrightspeakersareavailable,selectoneof
thetwo VMAx modesor "SurroundOff".
Whenyouhavecompletedyourselectionfor the
surroundchannel,pressthe • Button _ on
the remoteto movethecursorto SUBWOOFER.
Pressthe 4/• Buttons _ onthe
remoteto selectthe optionthat bestdescribes
yoursystem.
Thechoicesavailablefor the subwoofer
positionwill dependonthe settingsfor the
