TheAVR635 isdesignedtoserveasthehubofyour
homeentertainmentsystem,combiningtheflexibility
to accessthewiderangeofaudioandvideosource
optionsavailabletodaywiththepowertohandlevirtu
allyanytypeofprogrammaterialor surroundmode.
Thankstoastateof-theartDA610digitalsignal
processorfromTexasInstruments,theAVR635 offers
precisiondecodingofallcurrentlyavailabletechnolo
giesfromDolbyLaboratoriesandDTS_. Inaddition,
olderanalogandtwochannelprogramsourcesbenefit
fromthelatestversionof HarmanIntemafional's
Logic7_'processingwhichcreatesawidel,more
envelopingsoundfieldwithmore,definedchannel
positioningandtheabilitytocreate7.1 soundfields
from5.1 sources.Additionalprocessinganddecoding
optionsincludeMP3(whenconnectedtoacompatible
computer)andHDCD®forenhancedCDplaybackas
wellas Dolby*Vi_lualspeakerandDolbyHeadphone

Videoconnectionsandsystemintegrationisa snap

InstallationLocation
• Toensureproperoperationandtoavoidthepoten-

• Makecertainthatproperspaceisprovidedboth

Cleaning
Whentheunitgetsdirty,wipeitwithaclean,soft,dry
cloth.Ifnecessary,wipeitwithasoftclothdampened
withmildsoapywater,thenafreshclothwithclean
water.Wipedryimmediatelywithadrydotb.NEVER
usebenzene,aerosolcleaners,thinne_,alcoholorany
othervolatilecleaningagent,Donotuseabrasivedean

Movingthe Unit
Beforemovingtheunit,becertaintodisconnectany
interconnectioncoldswithothercomponents,and
makecertainthatyoudisconnecttheunitfromthe
ACoutlet.

Thisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomply

Thecartonandshippingmaterialsusedb protectyour
newreceiverduringshipmentwerespeciallydesigned
tocushionitfromshockandvibrahon.Wesuggest
thatyousavethecartonandpackingmaterialsfor
useinshippingifyoumove,or shouldtheunitever
needrepair.
Tominimizethesizeofthecartoninstorage,youmay
wishtoflattenit.Thisisdonebycarefullyslittingthe
tapeseamsonthebottomandcollapsingthecarton.
Othercaidboaldinsallsmaybestoredinthesame
manne_.Packingmaterialsthatcannotbecollapsed
shouldbesavedalongwiththecartonina plasticbag.
Ifyoudonotwishtosavethepackagingmaterials,

thatmustbe made.Atewminutesspenttocorrectly
configureandcalibratetheunitwillgreatlyaddtoyour
listeningexperience.
SpeakerSelectionand Placement
Theplacementofspeakersinamultichannelhome
theatersystemcanhaveanoticeableimpactonthe
qualityofsoundreproduced.
Nomatterwhichtypeor brandof speakersisused,
the samemodelor brandof speakershouldbeused
fortheleftfront,centerandrightfrontspeakers.This
createsa seamlessfrontsoundstageandeliminates
the possibilityof distractingsonicdisturbancesthat
occurwhenasoundmovesacrossmismatchedfront
channelspeakers.
Speaker Placement
Dependingonthetypeofcenterchannelspeakerin
useandyourviewingdevice,placethecenterspeaker
eitherdirectlyaboveor belowyourTV,or inthecenter
behindaperforatedfront-projectionscreen.
Oncethecenterchannelspeakerisinstalled,position
thefrontleftandfrontrightspeakerssothattheyare
asfarawayfromoneanotherasthecenterchannel
speakerisfromthepreterredlisteningposition.Ideally,
thefrontchannelspeakersshouldbeplacedsothat

Betoreusingtheunit,youmaywanttochangethe

thatsincetheAVR635 memorizesthesettingsfor

Tomakethisprocessasquickandeasyaspossible,
wesuggestthatyouusethef_ll-OSDsystemwiththe
on-screenmenus,andsteplhmugheachinput.Once
youhavecompletedthesettingsforthefirstinput,
manysettingsmaybeduplicatedfortheremaining
inputs,itisalsoagoodideato settheconfiguration
dataintheordertheseitemsarelistedinthe II AS -
