A FEW TIPS
• Maketherealwaysonabedofash.Thisisaninsulatinglayerforthereandanexcellentbedforthefuel.
• IftheDiaisoverloadedwithtoomuchwoodandthemaximumamountofoxygenissupplied(whichhappenswhentheaerationslideisfullyopen),there
may‘runwild’.Ifthisshouldoccur,closeaerationslidebypushingitinwards.Neverinsuchcaseleavethereplaceunattended.
• Youalsocontrolthetemperaturebytheamountandkindoffuelusedforeachload.
• RemoveexcessashesusingascooporanAshCleaner.Neverremoveashesusingavacuumcleanerbecauseremaystillcontinuetosmoulderfordays.
Makesureyouleavealayerofashes(±3cm)forthenextretobemade.
• Whentheweatherisfoggy,itispreferablenottousethereplacesincethedraughtintheuewillbetoolow.
INITIAL FIRE-UP, A GOOD START
Youhavepurchasedabrand-newstove,‘zeroonthemeter’,hasnotseenaameyet.Thismeansyouaregoingtotakecareoftheinitial‘miles’.Theceramicrebricks
willstartevaporatingmoistureandyourwoodburningstovewillstartsettingtocure.Forthisreason,therstfewtimes,donotmakeyourretoohotbecauseotherwise
thebrickscouldcrack.Youneednotworryaboutanyshrinkagecracks.Theinitialre-uprequiressomeadditionaltimeandattention,aswellastheapproachwehave
outlinedbelowforyouinsteps.Beforestarting,pleasenotethefollowingimportantpoints:
• Whenstartingthereinthestove,opentheaerationslide.Thisisonlythekindlingposition!
• Whilering-upthestovethersttimesomeliquidmightcomedownfromtheceramicrebrick.Pleaseputsomeoldtowelsunderneaththestovebeforeringitup.
• Whenthestovehasreachedit’stemperatureyoucanclosetheaerationsslidealittle.Nowitiseasytoregulatetherebymeansofclosingoropening
theaerationslideabit.
• Makesurethereissufcientventilation.
• Caution:afterinstallation,makesurethereisnoinammableand/orexplosion-hazardousmaterialinoronthestove,suchasaspraycan,packagingmaterial
andthelike.Alsochecktheareainsidethestoveabovethebafe.
INITIAL FIRE-UP IN STEPS
1. Open the air-control slide completely
bypullingittowardsyou.
3. Fillthestovewithahandfulofdryandthin
kindlingwood,lightitandkeepthedooropen.
4. Allowtheretogooutandthestovetocool
off for an hour so that the moisture in the
rebrickcanevaporate.Someliquidmightcome
freefromtheceramicre-brick.Thereforeplace
anoldtowelunderneaththestovebefore
ring-up.
5. Afteranhour,youwillstartbringingthewhole
stove at the proper temperature using first
somethinkindlingwood.
6. Thenusemoresolidlogs,±7x7cmthickand
30cmlong.Atthesametime,setthedoorajar.
Whenthelogsareproperlycatchingre,close
thedoor.Allowsometimeforthestoveto
heatup.

togooutagain.
