Do not use this apparatus near water.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
A battery operated product with integral batteries
or a separate battery pack must be recharged only
with the specified charger for the battery. Acharger
thatmaybesuitableforonetypeofbatterymaycreate
ariskoffirewhenusedwithanotherbattery.
Use battery operated product only with specifically
designated battery pack. Use of any other batteries
may create a risk of fire.
Use this product only with batteries and chargers
listed in tool/appliance/battery pack/charger
correlation supplement 987000-432.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Do not use on a ladder or unstable support. Stable
footingonasolidsurfaceenablesbettercontrolofthe
productinunexpectedsituations.
Do not use the radio to listen to music or other audio
programs while operating machinery. Doing so may
causedistractionsthatcouldresultinseriouspersonal
injury.
This radio is capable of producing sound levels that
can be dangerous to long-term hearing. Listening to
musicathighvolumeforanyperiodoftimemaycause
noise-inducedhearingloss.Thehigherthevolume,the
lesstimerequiredbeforeyourhearingmaybeaffected.
PRODUCT USE AND CARE
When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from
other metal objects like: paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can
make a connection from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals together may cause
sparks,burns,orafire.
Keep the radio and its handle dry, clean and free
from oil and grease. Alwaysuse a clean clothwhen
cleaning.Neverusebrakefluids,gasoline,petroleum-
basedproducts,oranystrongsolventstocleantheradio.
Followingthisrulewillreducetheriskoflossofcontrol
anddeteriorationoftheenclosureplastic.
Battery products do not have to be plugged into
an electrical outlet; therefore, they are always in
operating condition. Be aware of possible hazards
when not using your battery product or when
changing accessories. Followingthisrulewillreduce
theriskofelectricshock,fire,orseriouspersonalinjury.
Do not place battery products or their batteries near
fire or heat. Thiswillreducetheriskofexplosionand
possiblyinjury.
Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not
use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped
or received a sharp blow. Adamagedbatteryissubject
toexplosion.Properlydisposeofadroppedordamaged
batteryimmediately.
Batteries can explode in the presence of a source
of ignition, such as a pilot light. Toreducetheriskof
seriouspersonalinjury,neveruseanycordlessproduct
inthepresenceofopenflame.Anexplodedbatterycan
propeldebrisandchemicals.Ifexposed,flushwithwater
immediately.
Do not charge battery product in a damp or wet

For best results, your battery product should be
charged in a location where the temperature is more
than 50°F but less than 100°F. To reduce the risk of
seriouspersonalinjury,donotstoreoutsideorinvehicles.

To install battery pack:
Placethebatterypackintheradio,aligningtheribon
thebatterypackwiththegrooveinthebatteryport.
Make sure the latches on the battery pack snap into
placeandthebatterypackissecuredtotheradiobefore
beginningoperation.
Depressthelatchestoremovethebatterypack.
NOTE: Alwaysremovebatterypackfromradiowhennot
in use.

FOLD-DOWN FLEXIBLE ANTENNA
To decrease interference or electrical noise, extend the
antennaormovetheradiotoahigherelevation.Theantenna
foldsdownandoutofthewaywhennotinuse.
LCD DISPLAY
WhenabatterypackisinstalledandtheradioisintheON
position,theLCDdisplaywillshowthefrequency,mode,
andsettings.
NOTE: TheillustrationsoftheLCDdisplayshowninthis
manualareonlyexamplesofthefrequenciesyoumaysee
onyourradioandarenottheexactfrequenciesthatyou
may choose to listen to.
MENU NAVIGATION BUTTONS

Usethemenunavigationbuttonstoturntheradioonand
off,controlthevolume,changefrequencies,togglebetween
modesandsetthetime.
TURNING THE RADIO ON AND OFF:
Press the powerbuttontoturntheradioONandOFF.
Whentheradioisonandabatterypackisinstalled,thebattery
symbolwillbeshownintheLCDdisplay.Ifthebatterycharge
islow,aflashinglowbatteryindicatorwillbedisplayed.

WhentheradioisturnedON,theunitwillreturntothelast
volumesettingused.
Toincreasethevolume,presstheVOL + button.
Todecreasethevolume,presstheVOL – button.
MODE SELECTION:
Press the MODEbuttontocyclethroughavailablemodes.
Therearefourmodestochoosefrom:
FMmode
AMmode
AUXmode
BLUETOOTH®mode
NOTE:Whenturnedon,theradiowillreturntothelastmode
thatwasusedifthebatterywasnotdisconnected.Inthe
eventpowerislosttotheradio,thedisplaywilldefaultto
FMmode.
FM/AM TUNING:
The SCANleft and right arrowbuttons are used totune
tothedesiredradiofrequency.Theselectedfrequencyis
displayedontheLCD.
Pressandreleasetheleftarrowbuttontotunetoalower
frequency.Pressandreleasetherightarrowbuttonto
tunetoahigherfrequency.
Brieflypusheitherbutton(notpressandhold)totune
onefrequencystepatatime.
Todecreaseinterferenceorelectricalnoise,adjustthe
positionoftheantenna or move the radio to a higher
elevation.
STORING A PRESET IN MEMORY:
Thememoryfeaturesavesupto20frequenciesaspresetsin
theradio’smemory.Youcansaveuptoten(10)frequencies
eachforFMandAMmodes.
TunetothedesiredFMorAMfrequency.
PressandholdthePRESETbuttonuntiltheword“PRE-
SET”andthepresetpositionnumberflashonthescreen.
Press the SCANleftandrightarrowbuttonstochoose
apresetpositionnumber.
NOTE:Thereareten (10)presetpositionsfor FMand
ten(10)forAM.Onlyonestationcanbesavedineach
presetposition.
Press the PRESET buttonagaintostorethefrequency.
TO TUNE TO PRESETS (FM OR AM MODE):
PressandreleasethePRESET button to cycle through
eachpresetpositionnumberanditsassociatedfrequency.
OPERATION
EQUALIZER FUNCTION
To adjust the bass and/or treble settings:
Press and hold the MODE button until the letter “b”
(BASS)andanumberisdisplayed.Pressagainandthe
letter“t”(TREBLE)andanumberisdisplayed.Thenumber
representsthecurrentsetting.
NOTE:Boththebassandtreblecanbeadjustedona
scaleof0to5.
Press the VOL + or VOL –buttonuntilthedesiredbass
ortreblelevel(0to5)isachieved.PressMODE to store
your selection.
NOTE:Ifanadjustmentisnotmadewithinapproximately
3seconds,thesettingscreendisappears.
USING A PHONE/MP3 PLAYER (NOT
INCLUDED) WITH THE RADIO
See Figure 4, page 10.
Press the MODE button until AUXmodeishighlighted.
Theretainerstrapmaybeusedtosecurethedeviceinto
position.
Connectauxiliarycable(notincluded)tothedevice.
Thephone/MP3playermustbeonandinplaymodefor
soundtobeheardthroughthespeakers.
Allphone/MP3playercontrolscanbeusednormallywhile
connectedtoradio.
NOTE: Volume for any device connected through the
auxiliarycablecanbeadjustedusingthevolumecontrol
forthatdeviceorbyusingtheradio’sVOL + or VOL –
button.
TurningtheradiooffwillNOTturnthephone/MP3player
off.
TheauxiliarycableDOESNOTprovidechargingfunction.

USING A BLUETOOTH®ENABLED DEVICE

Press the MODE button until the BLUETOOTH®mode
ishighlighted.
WhentheradioisswitchedtoBLUETOOTH®mode,the
unitwillattempttopairtoaBLUETOOTH®enableddevice
and“bt”willflashintheLCDdisplay.
NOTE:Theradiowillautomaticallyattempttoconnectto
thelastdeviceitwaspairedto.Ifaconnectioncannotbe
establishedwithinfiveseconds,theradiowillmakeitself
availabletootherBLUETOOTH®enableddevices.

BLUETOOTH®enableddevicesmustbewithin30ft.of
theradioandsettosearch/scaninordertopairwiththe
radio.
Select“HartRadio”fromyourdevice’slistofavailable
BLUETOOTH®signalstopairthedeviceandtheradio.
NopasswordorPINisrequiredforconnection.
Whenthedevicehassuccessfullypairedwiththeradio,
theword“BLUE”willstopflashing.
NOTE:Whenadeviceispairedtotheradio,information
for connecting to the device is saved in the radio’s
memory.
When streaming audio from a BLUETOOTH® enabled
device,presstheSCANleftandrightarrowbuttonsto
gotothepreviousornexttrack.Brieflypressandrelease
the PRESETbuttontocyclebetweenpausingandplaying
theaudio.
NOTE: These controls may not be supported by the
BLUETOOTH®deviceand/orapplicationyouareusing.
AllBLUETOOTH®enableddevicecontrolscanbeused
normallywhilepairedtotheradio.
NOTE: Volumeforanydevicepairedtotheradiocanbe
adjustedusingthevolumecontrolforthatdeviceorby
usingtheradio’sVOL + or VOL – button.
To disconnect the BLUETOOTH® enabled device,
pressandholdthePRESETbutton.Whenthedeviceis
disconnected,“bt”willbeginflashingintheLCDdisplay
andtheradiowillbeginsearchingforanotherdevice.
USING THE USB DEDICATED CHARGING
PORT
TheUSBdedicatedchargingportprovideschargingpower
of5VoltsDCatupto1Ampforyourcellphone,MP3player,
orotherUSBdevices.
NOTICE:
Attemptingtochargedevicesratedmorethan1Amp,
such as a tablet, could damage the USB dedicated
chargingportand/orthedevice.
ConnectoneendofaUSBcable(notprovided)toyour
USBdevice.
ConnecttheotherendoftheUSBcable(notprovided)to
theUSBdedicatedchargingporttobeginchargingthe
device.
NOTE: The USB dedicated charging port provides
poweronly;itdoesnotprovideanydatacommunication
capabilities.
