MODE OF ACTION
The drive is controlled by the transmitter button programmed in HELB9 or by bell
buttons: SBS sequence control, WI door control and STOP stop. In the case of control from
the SBS input and the transmitter assigned to this function, the operation consists in carrying
out the step-by-step commands OPEN-STOP-CLOSE-STOP or with the ONLY OPEN
function enabled, it is only possible to open the gate. After turning on the power, the first
command is to open, if we give the next command while the gate is moving, we will stop it,
and then we can run it in the closing direction. The Wicket function (opening one M1 leaf) is
controlled from the WI input and / or from the transmitter button assigned to this function.
After switc ing t e power supply on, after t e first control
signal, t e motors are switc ed on for t e full time of operation.
Sync ronization of t e settings takes place after reac ing t e end
positions of t e mec anical stops.
If t e gate is not sync ronized, t e motor, after reac ing t e
limiter, despite t e fact t at t e gate is not moving, may still be on
for some time (maximum for t e programmed operating time) - you
must wait until t e controller turns off t e motors (t e signal lig t
goes out, you ear t e s utdown) relays) and only t en can t e drive
be restarted. In t e absence of power supply, it is recommended to
12

set t e gate manually in t e fully closed position.
Controlling t e wicket (opening t e M1 leaf) is possible in t e
fully closed position after sync ronizing t e end positions.
The HELB9C controller is equipped with an additional potential-free NO contact. It can
perform two functions:
•the electric lock switch of the gate - 0.5s before starting the movement in the opening
direction, is turned on to unlock the striker - activation time s.
•universal CH2 output channel - controlled by the transmitters assigned to the WICKET /
CH2 functions.
T e operating mode of t e transmitters assigned to t e
WICKET function depends on t e operating mode of t e CH2 / EZ
output. Wit CH2 / EZ set to ON, t e transmitters control t e M1
leaf (from fully closed), and wit CH2 / EZ set to OFF, t ey
independently control t e CH2 / EZ relay.

CONTROLLER INSTALLATION
Before starting the installation, make sure that all safety
recommendations are met.
Any installation work may only be performed by qualified
personnel. Electrical installation and connection of electronic devices
may only be performed by persons with appropriate electrical
qualifications.
1. Turn off t e power.
2. Install t e controller mec anically.
3. Pull out t e quick couplings.
4. Connect t e cables to t e quick couplers according to t e description or
connection diagram:
(wires connected to quick couplers s ould be flexible - "cord")
If you do not use additional limit switches, it is absolutely
necessary to install mechanical stops in the fully open and closed
position.
14

Set the power of the motors with the potentiometer to a value close to the minimum.
You should be aware that the maximum force of the actuators is 1600N and using the
maximum value on a delicate gate may damage it. When starting, gradually adjust the
engine power to the weight of the leaf.
4.1. Connecting p otocells
The infrared barrier is an essential security element that must be connected to the
controller. It prevents the gate from hitting a vehicle, person or object in the clear
passage. Photocells are necessary for the correct operation of the device and ensure
safety. It is required to connect a safety curtain or other additional protection against
crushing in the light of the leaves operation during closing. They must be connected in
series with the photocells.
+24VDC – photocells power supply plus
COM –power supply minus for the photocell receiver
FOTOCOM –power supply minus the photocell
transmitter
COM – photocell COM output
FOTO IN –NC contact of the photocell
The 24V power supply capacity of the connector is 4 mA,
therefore make sure that the total power load does not exceed this
current value. An example of connecting photocells is shown in the
connection diagram.
4.2. STOP safety connection
The NC type protections monitoring the range of the leaves should be
connected in series to the STOP and COM inputs. They are necessary for the correct
operation of the device and ensure safety.
STOP – NC safety input
COM – common wire
4. .Connection of t e SBS manual control button and t e WI wicket function
The connection should be made with a 2x 0.5mm cable (the cable type should
be in accordance with CEI 20-22; CEI EN50267-2-1 standards), the maximum length
of the cable depends on its electrical parameters, therefore, the following rule should
be adopted that required cable length, its resistance should not exceed 100ohm. As a
standard, the use of a cable with a cross-section of 0.5 mm and a length of not more
than 20 m is sufficient for the correct operation of the controller, for required greater
distances, 4x0.5 (mm) cables can be used by connecting the wires in parallel - in
pairs, or by increasing the cross-section of the cable (2x 1mm).
SBS – bell button for sequence control
WI – bell button to control the WICKET function
COM – common wire
4.4. Connecting t e electric strike
15

The electric strike is connected to an additional potential-free CH2 contact.
When selecting the tap, one should take into account the limitations of the relay load
capacity (see TECHNICAL DATA). An external power source appropriate to the
selected model is required.
CH2 (pin 1) – one end of the electric strike coil
CH2 (pin 2) – external power supply minus
The electric strike must be secured with a varistor or another element
eliminating overvoltage occurring during inductance switching on /
off.
Next, make electrical connections of connectors using 23 Vac voltage.
4.5. Connection of M1 and M2 motors.
The motor M1 starts first (overlapping leaf). The connection of the motors
should be made in accordance with the description on the PCB:
M1
COM - motor common wire (gray)
OP - motor cable that activates it in the
direction of opening (black or brown)
CL - motor cable for activating it in the
closing direction
(black or brown)
PE - PE protective conductor (yellow-
green)
M2
COM - motor common wire (gray)
OP - motor cable that activates it in the
direction of opening (black or brown)
CL - motor cable for activating it in the
closing direction (black or brown)
PE - PE protective conductor (yellow-
green)
Motors must be equipped with
starting capacitors. Otherwise, they must
be properly selected and connected between
the OP and CL inputs for each motor.
4.6. Connection of t e signal lig ting
Connecting a bulb with a power not exceeding 40W / 230V should be made to
16

the LAMP connector:
N – the neutral wire of the lamp
L – lamp phase wire
Fluorescent lamps must not be used as traffic lights.
4.7. Power connection
The last stage of connection is to connect the controller power supply, connect
in turn the wires:
PE – protective conductor
L – phase wire
N – neutral wire
Protect the controller power supply by using a residual current
circuit breaker.
5. Put t e quick couplers back into t e controller.
Before starting the device, check the power supply, grounding
and wiring. The cables should not be too long, it is not allowed to wind
the remaining cable in the so-called "loops" and simultaneous routing
of the controller power supply, motor and control cables.
6. Manually move t e gate to t e closed position.
7. FROM HLB9C REV 1.7 VERSION select 1-leaf or 2-leaf operating mode -
according to the procedure described in paragraph PROGRAMMING> OPERATING
MODE.
8. Turn on t e power.
9. C eck t e opening direction.
Pressing the SBS manual control button or the programmed transmitter
activates the gate in the opening direction, otherwise, swap the wires connected to
the OP and CL connectors (after disconnecting the power supply first).
10. Adjust t e t rust of t e motors.
The thrust is regulated with the FORCE potentiometer. Adjustments should be
made with a screwdriver - clockwise rotation increases the thrust force, on the
17

contrary - reduces it.
The regulation should be carried out in accordance with the
applicable standards.
11. Program t e engines operation - according to t e procedure described in paragrap
Programming.
12. Properly configure t e controller and program t e remote control transmitters.
13. C eck t at t e wings stop correctly in t e end positions. If not, c eck t e correctness
of connection and repeat t e procedure of programming t e leaves operation.
