Unpacking
Inspect the amplifier during unpacking, if any damage is found, notify the dealer immediately. Be sure to save the
carton and all packaging materials. Should you ever need to return the unit back to the dealer or HH Electronics,
use only the original factory packing.
Installation
HH professional amplifiers are designed for durability in commercial installations and provide the quality
performance required in studio and live performance applications. They are 2U rack height, with 360mm depth,
designed to mount in a standard EIA 19" rack. Rear mounting ears are provided for additional support. The
minimum depth required in the rack space is 430mm (to allow adequate clearance for the connectors). When
using the equipment in a rack, consideration should also be given to cooling. The air flow through the unit from
front to back should not be obstructed or hindered in any way,so adequate ventilation in the front and rear of the
rack cabinet is important.
Basic Setup
Rack mount the amplifier in the location where it is to be used, with consideration to accessibility, cooling etc.
Make all the connections to the input connectors on the desired channels.Select the mode configuration (Bridge,
Parallel or Stereo). Connect speaker cabinets to the required output connectors, paying attention to the
impedance and phase.
With the power switch OFF and both gain controls set in their lowest position (-0 dB),connect the mains power
cord to the amplifier, then to a suitable electrical source to allow proper current draw. The amplifier is now
electrified and on standby status, there is no indication on the amplifier that there is power connected.
Turn ON the power switch, the HH logo, gain controls and the protection indicators are all illuminated, the
amplifier will now selftest automatically for around 10 seconds. The protection indicators will go out when the test
is finished.
Now the gain controls can be raised slowly to the desired settings.
Switching Off
After using the amplifier, please adjust the gain controls to their lowest settings (-0 dB),then the amplifier can be
turned off safely.Turn the power switch to the OFF position and remove the power cord from the electrical
source.
NOTE:
Do not connect or disconnect from the input signal source when the amplifier is turned ON,damage could occur
to the amplifier and the speaker.
When the amplifier is connected to the power supply, power is present inside, even in standby mode where the
power switch is in the OFF position.
If the amplifier is in standby mode without use for over 3 hours, remove the power cord from the electrical source.
INTRODUCTION

SR SERIES FRONT PANEL
1. FRONT MOUNTING BRACKETS; used in conjunction with the rear brackets to mount the amplifier in a
rack system.
2 & 6. CHANNEL GAIN CONTROLS; these controls are used to adjust the gain of each channel, they
determine how loud each channel will sound for a given input signal level. In Bridge mode CH1 potentiometer
controls the gain on both channels and in Stereo or Parallel mode just on CH1.Gain control range is:-0 dB~0dB.
The segmented surround of the controls are illuminated green in the presence of mains power.
?
3 & 7. SIGNAL INDICATOR; these indicators illuminate when there is signal activity on the associated
channel,the sensitivity is around 0.35V.
4. CLIP INDICATOR;the segmented surround of the controls are usually illuminated green, but when the level
of signal on either channel is sufficient to clip the amplifier, the surround on that channel changes to RED.When the
surround is RED,the amplifier has reached its maximum power output. The distortion is around 0.5%.
5. PARALLEL INDICATOR;shows when the amplifier is in Parallel mode,i.e.acting as two separate amps with
a common input.
8. FRONTAIR INTAKE;the air flow for cooling on this amplifier flows from front to back.Make sure that there
is an adequate air supply at the front of the amplifier and that the rear of the amplifier has room for the exhaust to
escape.
9. MAIN POWER SWITCH; switches the mains power ON and OFF. When the power switch is turned ON,
the HH logo, gain controls and the protection indicators are all illuminated, the amplifier will now selftest
automatically for around 10 seconds. The protection indicators will go out when the test has finished.
10 & 11. PROTECT INDICATORS;when these indicators are ON the amplifier is in protection mode, which
includes output short circuit, overheating, DC, VHF constant non-music high frequency signal.
12. ILLUMINATED HH LOGO;this badge is illuminated when the mains power switch is in the ON position.
SR SERIES FRONT PANEL DESCRIPTION

SR SERIES REAR PANEL
SR900 REAR PANEL
SR1500 - SR2000 REAR PANEL
1. MAINS POWER FUSE; only replace with the same type and rating specified on the rear panel.
2. MAINS POWER INLET SOCKET; connect the mains cord here before connecting to the power source.
(Either IEC or NEUTRIK POWERCON)
3 & 4. CH1 & CH2 SPEAKON OUTPUTS; use these output sockets to connect the speaker cabinets.
Stereo mode:1+ connects to the positive port,1- connects to the negative port.
5 & 6. CHANNEL 1 & 2 BINDING POST OUTPUTS; binding post speaker outputs are provided for each
channel and the speaker cables can be terminated with banana plugs or stripped wires. The red binding posts are
the signal outputs from each channel and the black posts are the chassis ground. Connect the red posts to the
positive inputs of the associated speakers. For Bridge mode operation, only the red binding posts are used and the
associated speaker loadis connected between the two red posts.
Which ever connections are used, the parallel speaker load should be limited to a minimum of
4 Ohms per channel or 8 Ohms in bridge mode for any application.
7. REAR AIR EXHAUST; the air flow for cooling on this amplifier flows from front to back, allow sufficient
clearance when rack mounting the unit.
8. SERIAL NUMBER LABEL; contains the serial number of the amplifier.
9. INPUT SENSITIVITY SWITCH; this switch changes the input sensitivity of the amplifier when using low
or high nominal input signals. Most professional mixing consoles operate at a nominal level of +4dBu;therefore use
the 26dB position to provide plenty of fader movement. For a disco mixer operating at a nominal level of 0dBu or
less use the higher gain position.
10.30Hz HI-PASS; toggles the hi-pass filter ON/OFF. In the ON position this filter will cut extremely low sub-
sonic frequencies, protecting the speakers from over-excursion
™

11.OPERATION MODE SELECTOR; use this switch to change the operation mode of the amplifier.
Stereo mode:Both channels are independent of each other, acts as two separate amps.
Parallel mode:Connect to the input on CH1,the signal is sent to both CH1 and CH2 outputs.CH 2 input is not
active. Acts as two separate amps but with a common input.
Bridge mode: Connect to CH1 input, the signal is sent to both CH1 and CH2 positive ports, acts as a single
more powerful amp.
12. CHANNEL 1 COMBI INPUT; balanced input socket for use with either XLR or Jack.
13. CHANNEL 2 COMBI INPUT; balanced input socket for use with either XLR or Jack.
14 . CHANNEL 1 LINK; this socket is in parallel with CH1 Combi Skt and provides an output signal same as
the input signal.
15. CHANNEL 2 LINK; this socket is in parallel with CH2 Combi Skt and provides an output signal same as
the input signal.
SR SERIES SETUP CONNECTIONS
Connections to all amplifiers in the series are made using the same types of connectors as illustrated below.
Signals can be inputted using an XLR or a 6.3mm jack.
The input signal can be supplied to another device through a Male XLR in the Link Skt.
Connections to the speaker cabinets can be made via Speakon connectors or Binding posts, unless in Bridge
mode where only the binding posts can be used.

Reliability Protection Function
1. Clip / Limit; this function is used for preventing dangerously high level signal damage to the speakers,
Clip/Limit monitors the distortion produced by the amplifier output. When the distortion exceeds 0.5%
Clip/Limit will reduce the input signal to reduce the distortion.
2.Over heat Protection; if the amplifier works at full loading for a long time and the temperature rise reaches
over 105°C,the amplifier will go into over-heat protection status and the protection indicator on the front panel
will illuminate and the output will be cut. Try to use the amplifier in an environment temperature below 30°C.
3.VHF Protection; if the amplifier output frequency exceeds 10KHz,such as with MIC Feedback noise, then
the amplifier may go into VHF Protection after 3 seconds. The protection indicator on the front panel will be
illuminated and output to the speakers will be cut.The output signal will return within 10 seconds after the
removal of theVHF signal.
4.Short Circuit Protection; if the output is short circuited, the protection indicator on the front panel will be
illuminated and output to the speakers will be cut. The output signal will return within 10 seconds after the
removal of the short circuit.
5.AC Local Power Protection; if theAC power voltage drops too low,(~160V in the case of a ~230V unit),
the power supply will be turned off automatically until the power returns to the normal level.
6.DC Protection; if the DC output voltage to the speakers is large (>2.6V),the DC protection circuit will start
up,the output will be cut and the indicator on the front panel will be lit.
