Q. How can I change the frequency on my transmitter?
A. Youwill have to send the transmitter to our service department to have the frequency changed.
The total cost is $14.95. This price includes shipping.

Q. Is my transmitters trainer function compatible with any other manufacturer's radio?
A. Hitec radios are trainer compatible with Hitec and Futaba systems. Use only the Hitec one-way
trainer cord (PN 58310). Be aware you will need a comparable radio to use any mixing functions.

Q. Why doesn't my elevator trim work?
A. The radio is probably set to stick mode 1. To check this, go into the main menuand scroll to the
screen with an"St". If there is a 1 above the letters then you are in stick mode 1. Press the cut
buttonto change to stick mode 2. Page 11 of your manual will explain this procedure in more

Q. When I set the end point on my servo, it will only affect one direction.
A. End points allow youto set both ends of stick travel to different percentages. To do this, hold
the stick in one extreme and set the percentage that corresponds. Then move the stick in the
opposite direction and set that percentage.
For example, if youwish to set the end point on your aileron, go to the EPA menu and make sure
that channel 1 is blinking. If it is not blinking, use the rudder (ch4) trim lever to scroll throughthe
channels until you reach channel 1. Then hold the aileron stick to the right. While holding it in this
position, adjust the percentage value on the screen with the aileron (ch 1) trim lever. Then move
and hold the stick in the left position and change the percentage value for that direction.

Q. Why do the centers on my servo move when I switch from high to low dual rate?
A. The radio may require recalibration. Return the transmitter to Hitec service for evaluation.
<Back>
Q. What other receivers will my Flash work with?
A. The Flash radios are compatible with negative shift FM (PPM) receivers only.
<Back>
Q. What is the maximum range of the Flash transmitter?
A. Approximately 2 miles, but we refer to it as "line of site." If you can see it, youcanfly it!
<Back>
Q. How do I do a range check?
A. With your transmitters antenna collapsed, walk away from your receiver until the servos start to
jitter. You should get a minimum of 75ft. If you get significantly less we recommend that you do not
fly until you isolate the problem.

Q. When I use elevon mixing, how do I adjust the throw of the elevator only?
A. Youcanuse the D/R menu to adjust the total throw of the elevator.
<Back>
Q. Does Hitec make the Flash System X radios in the Ham Band?
A. Hitec does not offer radios in the ham band.
<Back>
Q. Will this do full house sailplanes?
A. A "full house" sailplane requires the use of at least 6 channels.

Q. When I enable aileron/rudder mix, the rudder only moves in one direction when the
aileron stick is moved?
A. Both directions of the rudder have to be set. To do this, enter into the ail-rud menu. Hold the
aileron stick to the right and change the percentage showing with the aileron trim. Then move the
aileron to the left and set the new percentage.

Q. When I enable the ELEVON mix, my elevator behaves like a aileron and visa versa.
A. Because of the different types of servo installations, you will sometimes have to reverse one
channel or the other. If by doing this, the ailerons then cause the plane to roll in the wrong
direction, unplug the servos from the receiver and switch them. Then start the reverse process
over again unitl the plane performs properly.

Q. Why won't my receiver work with My Flash when I have the EPA and Dual Rates at
125%?
A. In the Flash, if both the EPA and D/R settings are at 125% and the trim is at 100% full
deflection in either direction, you may exceed the tolerance of the receiver. Some receivers are
set to accept a specific pulse range and when your Flash is set up as mentioned, you will exceed
that range. It is not that the receiver is defective or that the Flash is defective, it is just that in this
very unlikely situation they will be incompatible. .
It should be noted that rather thanusing the trims to adjust your extreme center problem, the
mechanical linkage should first be adjusted and thenthe trim can be used for fine tuning.

Q. How do I use my transmitter in a buddy situation?
A. To use the transmitter for training purposes, you will need to purchase PN 58310. This is a one
way Hitec trainer cord. Each end is designated. The one marked as the master plugs into the
teacher transmitter and the one marked student plugs into the student transmitter.
The master transmitter must be onthe same frequency as the receiver in the plane. Only the
master transmitter requires a battery and to be switched on. The master will supply the student
with power automatically, so the student transmitter does not require a battery nor does it have to
be turned on. Whenthe master transmitter's trainer switchis held down, the student then will have
control of the plane. Once the switch is released, the master will thencontrol the plane.
It is particularly important that the master and student transmitters are capable of the same
functions. The reason for this is that the student only uses the RF section of the master. Any
mixing, dual rates or other refinements are not carried over from the master to the student.
