Using Your Car Seat After a Collision
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it
is recommended to replace car seats after experiencing a MODERATE or SEVERE
collision to ensure ongoing optimal collision protection for child passengers.
Car seats do not necessarily require replacement after a MINOR collision, as
defined by NHTSA, which includes the following conditions:
●The vehicle was drivable after the collision.
●The vehicle door closest to the car seat showed no damage.
●No occupants in the vehicle sustained injuries.
●There is no visible damage to the car seat.
●The airbags, if equipped, did not deploy.
However, it is crucial to NEVER utilize a car seat that has been involved in a
MODERATE or SEVERE collision.
10

2.1 Pre-Installation Checks
Before installing the booster seat, ensure your vehicle's seat is flat and the
booster seat fits properly. The entire base of the booster seat should be in
contact with the vehicle seat.
2.2 Installation Process
Position the booster seat on the vehicle seat where your child will be sitting. If
your vehicle's seat has a headrest, adjust it to a comfortable height for your child.
The tether strap included in the box should be attached to the anchor point
behind the vehicle's seat for added stability.
2.3 Post-Installation Checks
Check that the booster seat is stable and does not move side-to-side or
front-to-back more than 1 inch when pulled at the belt path.
11

3.1 Fastening and Unfastening the Harness
Position your child on the booster seat and run the vehicle's seat belt across
their body, ensuring that the lap belt lies flat across their thighs and the shoulder
belt crosses the middle of their shoulder and chest.
Always utilize the vehicle lap and shoulder belt system to restrain the child in this
booster seat. Never use only the vehicle lap belt as this could lead to serious
injury or death.
3.2 Adjusting the Seat and Headrest
As a backless booster seat, the MXZ-EC does not have its own headrest. Adjust
the vehicle's headrest to ensure it supports the back of your child's head.
12

4.1 Removing and Reattaching the Cover
The faux leather cover of the MXZ-EC Child Booster Seat can be easily wiped
clean with a damp cloth. If necessary, it can be removed for a more thorough
cleaning.
4.2 Cleaning the Seat
Use mild soap and warm water to clean the booster seat. Avoid abrasive
cleaners or bleach as they may damage the material and compromise the seat's
integrity. The cover can be washed in a washing machine and should dry using
air dry only.
4.3 Checking for Wear and Damage
Regularly check the booster seat for signs of wear or damage. If any parts are
worn or damaged, stop using the seat immediately and contact customer
service.
The booster seat has a life of 5 years from the purchase date.
