VIA
PEDOM
ETERS
are highly accurate and
reliable pedometers and are effective for both
walking and running. Features include Step
Counter, Distance, Calories Burned, Chronograph
and Time of Day. In addition to these basic
features, VIA Pedometers are also available in
specialty models:
• VIA Pulse (w/ heart rate)
• VIA FM (w/ FM radio receiver)
• VIA PanicAlarm (w/ panic alarm)
• VIA BodyFat (w/ body fat analyzer)

BASIC OPERATION OF BUTTONS
MODE KEY
- Scrolls through various modes of the pedometer.
SET KEY
- Enters the setting sequence for user data.
- Advances to next variable in setting sequence.
- Stops/Starts Chronograph
UP/CLR KEY
- Increases variable in setting sequence.
- Resets the Chronograph (VIA Basic, FM,
PanicAlarm and Pulse).
DOWN KEY
- Decreases variable in setting sequence.
START - RESET/SCAN KEY
- Activates heart rate detection (VIA Pulse).
- Resets FM station search (VIA FM).
- Advances to subsequent FM station (VIA FM).

PRIMARY OPERATING MODES
The VIA Basic, FM, Pulse and Panic Alarm models
have 4 common, primary operational modes:
STEP/TIME
MODE
:
The top line displays number
of Steps Taken. Bottom line displays Time of Day.
DISTANCE/CHRONOGRAPH
MODE
:
Top line
displays Distance Traveled. Bottom line displays
Chronograph/elapsed time.
KCAL/ODOMETER
MODE:
Top line displays
Calories Consumed. Bottom line displays Total
Distance Traveled.
TARGET CALORIES/DAILY CALORIES
MODE:
Top line displays Daily Target Calories. Bottom
line displays actual Calories Consumed for the
day.
Scroll through the Primary Operational Modes by
PRESSING
the
MODE
key.

SETTING USER DATA - ALL MODELS
DETERMINING YOUR STRIDE LENGTH
1.
You will need a tape measure to accurately
measure your stride.
2.
Mark a spot on the ground. Start with your toe
to that point and take 10 natural strides of the
type you want to measure (run, walk, jog, etc).
3.
Mark the place where the toe of your forward
foot stopped.
4.
Measure the distance between the two points,
and divide by 10.

. The fi rst digit on the left will

to adjust.

The top screen is a Bar Scale, which represents
the percentage of Target Calories you have
burned.

Both the

USING THE FM RADIO
(VIA FM ONLY)
1.
Plug the headphones into the jack located on
the top of the unit.
2.
Reset the radio to the
LOWEST FREQUENCY
by pressing the
RESET
button.
3.
Advance to the
NEXT AVAILABLE
FREQUENCY
by pressing the
SCAN
button
located below the face of the unit. Continue to
press the
SCAN
button until a desired station
is reached.
5.
To turn the radio off, unplug the headphones.
CAUTION:
The headphones activate the FM
receiver. Leaving the headphones plugged in
the unit for extended periods of time will drain
the battery.

USING THE PANIC ALARM
(VIA PANICALARM ONLY)
1.
Remove the
PANIC ALARM PIN
from the unit
to activate the alarm.
2.
Re-Insert the
PANIC ALARM PIN
back into
the jack to stop the panic alarm instantly.

USING THE PULSE RATE MONITOR
(VIA PULSE ONLY)
In any pedometer mode:
1.
Press the
START
key to acquire the
PULSE-
READING MODE
.
2.
Place your index fi nger on the Pulse Rate
Sensor located top of the pedometer (Do not
press too hard). The Pulse Monitor will begin to
detect the pulse automatically.
NOTE:
It may take few seconds to display the
current pulse rate (BPM= Beat per minute).

Your VIA Pedometer clips easily and securely to
the waist or belt of your pants or shorts. The face
of the unit pivits upward for easy viewing of the
display screen. For best results keep the unit in
line with the “crease line” of your clothes.
NOTE:
Some situations may result in incorrect
step counting:
1
.
The step counter isn’t direct perpendicular to
the ground. The pedometer must be at least 60
degrees to the ground.
2.
Dragging feet walking with sandals or sandal
likes shoes, or uneven footstep in a crowed
area.
3.
Sports other than walking or jogging, walking
up or down stairs.
4.
Inside a vehicle (bicycle, motorcar, train, bus or
other vehicle that generate some vibration ).
5.
Motion of standing up or sitting down.

MOTION SENSITIVITY SLIDE SWITCH
To make the unit more or less sensitive to motion,
reposition the
MOTION SENSITIVITY SLIDE
SWITCH
.
1.
ADJUST SWITCH
to the
RIGHT
for a
MORE
SENSITIVE SETTING
(for most women and
men with a smoother walking stride).
2.
ADJUST SWITCH
to the
LEFT
for a
LESS
SENSITIVE SETTING
.
To determine the proper amount of motion
sensitivity for an individuals walking pattern,
experiment with different settings.

CHANGING THE BATTERIES
VIA BASIC & VIA PULSE:
1.
Remove battery door using a coin or other small
object.
2.
Remove old batteries.
3.
Install new batteries, making sure the polarity
of each is correct.
4.
Replace and tighten the battery door.
5.
Replace the battery compartment and fasten
the screw.
NOTE:
The VIA units are powered by CR2032
3v Lithium batteries. These batteries are very
common and can be found at most drug stores
and camera shops.

CHANGING THE BATTERIES
VIA FM & VIA PANICALARM:
1.
Flip open the clip and remove the battery door
by unscrewing the secured screw.
2.
Remove old batteries.
3.
Replace batteries with new CR2032 x 1(3V)
and CR1130 x 1(3V) batteries, making sure the
polarity of each is correct.
4.
Replace and tighten the battery door.
NOTE:
The VIA units are powered by CR2032
3v Lithium batteries. These batteries are very
common and can be found at most drug stores
and camera shops.

CARE OF YOUR VIA PEDOMETER
1.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures.
2.
To clean the unit, use a dry soft cloth of a
soft cloth moistened in a solution of water
and a mild neutral detergent. Never use
volatile agents such as benzene, thinner, spray
cleaners, etc.
3.
Store your pedometer unit in a cool, dry place
when not in use.
4.
Cold temperatures may cause the display to
dim or fail completely. Normal operation should
return when the unit warms up.
5.
Keep this manual and any other documentation
that comes with the step counter in a safe
place for future reference.
