CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
1. If the handle has been installed, remove the two attaching screws and
place the handle and screws aside.
2. Press the button on the side of the rotor and pull the entire metering
unit free.
3. Push the rotor free of the housing.
4. Disassemble the metering unit by removing the cap and O-ring.
5. With a high-quality aerosol degreasing material, such as Hornady One
Shot®
Gun Cleaner and Lube, quality brake cleaner, electrical contact
cleaner or rubbing alcohol, remove oil from any surface that may come
in contact with the powder.
(It is not necessary to degrease the push-button assembly.)
6. Place all parts on a clean rag and allow them to air dry.
7. Once parts are completely dry, reverse the procedure to assemble.
No lubrication is required.
CAUTION: Any time you use a cleaning solvent on plastic or rubber parts, check
for chemical compatibility, prior to use.
SET UP
The Hornady Blackpowder Lock-N-Load®Powder Measure has been designed
to minimize sparking from friction and static electricity. The hopper, its cap and
the drop tubes are aluminum. The rotor and metering unit are brass. Though the
measure is similar to the Hornady Lock-N-Load®Powder Measure, parts do not
interchange. There are clear drop tubes on the market that will fit this unit.
DO NOT USE THEM! Plastic can hold a static charge that may cause a spark.
1. Follow cleaning instructions before use.
2. Install the drop tube of your choice, one that is as large as it can be
without allowing the case mouth into the orifice.
3. The metering unit adjusts from 10 to 110 grains in 10-grain increments,
and from 50 to 130 grains in 10-grain increments. The increments of
the measure correspond to other blackpowder measuring devices
(10 grain, 20 grain, etc., with FFG blackpowder). Other sizes of
blackpowder and Pyrodex will drop different amounts. It is MANDATORY
to confirm charge weight.
