1.1 On delivery
Carry out an immediate visual inspection of the boiler
on receipt of the delivery. If damage is ascertained,
immediately take the steps specied in the delivery contract.
The respective risk carrier bears the cost of repairs.

1.4 Approvals and identification
Wood pellet boilers of the type series BioLyt are designed
and approved for use as heat generators for hot water
heating systems with ow temperatures of up to 75 °C.
They comply with the requirements of the European
standard for solid fuel boilers EN 303-5. The boilers
have been tested by TÜV SÜD (Technical Inspectorate
South Germany) (Munich).
The type label with the technical data is attached to one
of the casing side panels. The label includes the serial
number identifying the boiler.

2. Installation
2.1 Characteristics of the boiler room
The architectural and ventilation requirements for boiler
rooms are dened in the building regulations applicable
to the relevant installation site.
Ensure an adequate supply of fresh air to the boiler
room to make sure that there is an unobstructed ow
of the combustion air required for the operation of all
combustion devices in the boiler room and so that there
is no shortage of oxygen for operating personnel. Ensure
that the air intake can not be closed or blocked.
Minimum free cross-section for the air intake = 200 cm2.
2.2 Installation and set-up
As a rule, the modules are delivered on two pallets:

2.2.1 Installation
The modular system, lightweight and compact
components and the carrying aids provided make
installation extremely easy.
For overall unit dimensions, see Chapter 3.5.
• Prevent damage to the fragile refractory lining elements
by avoiding jolting and vibration.
• Move the packaging units carefully to avoid scratching
the panelling components.
• A clear door width of 60 × 100 cm is sufcient to allow
the components of BioLyt boilers of all types to pass
through.
2.2.1.1 Removing refractory lining elements (Option)
The post-combustion ring (10.7 kg) and the dust separator
(6.7 kg) can be removed to facilitate installation of the
bottom section.
1. Open the boiler door (1a, Figure 02) by loosening the
two palm grips (1).
2. Release the 4 screws (2, Figure 01) and remove the
sealing plate.

3. Using both hands, pull the post-combustion ring
(3, Figure 02) horizontally out of the bottom section.

4. Lift the dust separator (4, Figure 03) straight upwards,
guide it towards the rear over the retaining bracket
and via the post-combustion ring rail towards the
outside.

2.2.1.2 Fitting refractory lining elements
The elements are tted by following the instructions above
in reverse order. Pay attention to the side nipple on the
post-combustion ring (3, Figure 02). It must always point
towards the left, in the direction of the burner mechanism.
2.2.2 Set-up
Observe the minimum wall clearances (see Chapter 3.4
and 3.5). If required, the boiler door can also be attached
on the left.

2.3 Installing the boiler
2.3.1 Installing the bottom section

Mark the position of the bottom section.
Refer to Chapter 3.5 for the minimum wall
clearances.
1. Position the bottom section at the point marked.
2. Place the 4 green metal plates over the 4 red
rubber plates; under each of the adjustable feet.
Use the 4 adjustable feet to align the bottom section
horizontally.
3. The insulation has a perforated opening on each
side to make it easier to expose the burner aperture.
Remove the insulation over the aperture on the left
side (later, it can be clamped between the casing and
the heat exchanger).
4. Remove the ash screw (4, Figure 04) – otherwise, it
will not be possible to install the burner!
- Release the vertical screw (4a) (Torx T25) on the
underside of the ash screw tube.
- Remove the bearing (4b).
- Pull the ash screw out (4) of the bottom section.

2.3.2 Changing the boiler door attachment side
(Option)
It is possible to change the boiler door attachment side,
allowing the door to be opened to the left. This may be
advantageous where space is restricted.
Proceed as follows:
1. Release the two screws (1, Figure 05) on the frame.
2. Loosen the two palm grips of the boiler door (2).
3. Turn the boiler door through 180° and position it so
that the hinge points towards the left.
4. Roughly position the door with the palm grips (2)
before xing it in place with the screws (1).

Make sure that the boiler door closes
tight! The system will not operate if the
boiler door does not seal tight, as it will
not be possible to generate the necessary
vacuum in the combustion chamber!

2.3.3 Fitting the heat exchanger

Check the position of the bottom section
again – It could have been moved while
performing the steps described above!
1. Remove the tension springs and bend the insulation
mat (1, Figure 06) on the bottom section towards the
boiler door.

2. Place the heat exchanger on the bottom section
(Figure 08).
-Caution: It weighs 85/104/143 kg!
- Use the lifting aids provided on the front and at
the bottom (2, Figure 07) and the ow and return
connections (2a) on the back to stabilise it.
- Take care that the seal (1a, Figure 06) is NOT
displaced or damaged!

The heat exchanger must NOT be
suspended by the handles on the cover
(2b, Figure 07).
3. Remove the three thread protection caps (3, Figure 08)
from the connections between the bottom section and
the heat exchanger.

4. Fit each of the three corrugated pipe elbows
(see enclosed assembly instructions) individually,
together with the seals, and bolt them in position
as follows:
- If necessary, loosen the union nuts on the heat
exchanger side in order to align the pipe elbow
precisely over the connection on the bottom section.
- Grease the thread with a lubricant.
- Simultaneously t the two union nuts by hand.
Insulate the three corrugated pipe elbows,


5. Then x the union nuts successively in position with high
expenditure of force (using a pipe wrench without
extension; brace with an open-end wrench!).
6. Fix the heat exchanger in position on the bottom
section using the 8 collar nuts (M8).

2.3.4 Fitting the burner
1. Remove the ash wiper ring (1, Figure 09) from
the burner plate (1a) to facilitate insertion of the
burner (1c).

2. To do this, turn the ash wiper ring with the marking
(Figure 10) towards the recess. Use a felt-tip marker
to mark the ash wiper ring on the opposite side
(for «front»); this makes later installation easier.
Lift the ring at the arrow marking on the rear and pull
it away from the burner plate.

3. Loosen the two screws (3, Figure 09) of the secondary
air connection (3a) and pull the secondary air
connection off; this makes it easier to insert the
burner into the bottom section.
7. Fold the insulation mat back into place and secure
with the tension springs.

section and the heat exchanger must seal
tightly!
If possible, now pressure-test the bottom
section with the heat exchanger, checking
for leakage (mains water pressure is

4. Turn the two hammer-head bolts on the burner to
vertical position.

5. Lift the prepared burner up obliquely and guide it
carefully into the bottom section. Fit the burner onto
the two pins (5, Figure 12) on the bottom section.

6. Insert the secondary air connection into the bottom
section through the opening in the side. As you do so,
pay attention that the sealing cord (6, Figure 12) is
seated correctly. Reattach the secondary air connection
to the burner – the screws should be located fully
inside the recess on the mounting plinth (secondary air
connection must be fully inserted).
7. Press the burner rmly onto the bottom section. Press
the two hammer-head bolts against the bottom section
and turn them clockwise through 90°. This locks the
rear part of the bolt in position, and you can now
screw the burner to the bottom section using the nut.

Never turn the hammer-head bolts anti-
clockwise - turning them just a short
distance in anti-clockwise direction will
release them from their anchoring in the
bottom section!
8. Check that the burner is tightly seated on the
bottom section.
9. To make it easier to t the ash wiper ring, release screw
(9, Figure 13) and remove the ash wiper plate (9a).
10. Fit the front section of the ash screw (10) by inserting
the released screw into the rear screw located in
the bottom section. It can be positioned precisely by
holding the screw and guiding it by hand in the cavity
(Figure 13).
11. Reattach the ash screw (4, Figure 04) with the screw
bearing (4b).
12. Fit the ash wiper ring as follows:
- Turn the ash wiper ring so that the notch points
towards the recess on the burner plate. The recess
is located in the BACK of the combustion chamber.
- Place the ash wiper ring on the burner plate at
the front and press the wiper ring back towards
the recess.
- Test the ash wiper ring for ease of movement.
13. Using the screw (9), attach the ash wiper plate
(9a, Figure 13) as far as the lower stop of the bracket.

2.3.5 Fitting the control, routing probes and sensors
1. Remove the transport locking device (1, Detail A) from
the heating surface motor by releasing the nut (1a)
and remove screw with locking nut (1b). Reattach
the heating surface motor by replacing the M8 nut
and locking ring.
2. Fit the automatic ring device:
-Insert the four M5x50 screws (2, Figure 14) into the
support plate (2a) from below.
- Place the support plate on the bracket on the boiler
(2b, Detail A) and x it in position with two M6x12
screws (2c) each on the left and right.
- Turn the four M5x12 screws (Detail B) half-way into
the support plate.

Then hook the automatic ring device (2f, Figure 14)
onto the previously tted screws (2d, 2e) and x it
in position.
3. Route all cables from the burner, bottom section
and heat exchanger to the automatic ring device
(cable routing as shown in Figure 14).
When routing the cables, ensure that the
cables do not touch any hot or sharp-
edged components and that they are not
damaged in any way.
- Negative pressure switch (PU)
- Bottom lling level sensor (PBSu)
- Combustion chamber sensor (BRF)
- Ignition element (Z)
- Pressure fan voltage supply (DG)
- Pressure fan speed control (DG-PWM)
- Modulating stoker (HS)
- Stoker/feeder screw rotation monitoring (ESDU)
- Lambda probe (O2)
- Boiler sensor (BK)
- Flue gas sensor (BAG)
- Rotating grate (DR)
- Heating surface motor (HFR)
- Induced-draught fan (SZG)
4. After all the cables have been routed, proceed to t
and secure the plug-in connections according to the
diagram on the automatic ring device.
5. Fit the side walls:
- Remove screw (5, Detail C) on the bottom section
(attachment bracket is pre-tted on the left side wall).
- Working from above, hook the left side wall (5a) into
the support plate (2a) and into the bolts on the oor
of the boiler. Then secure by replacing the screw (5)
which was removed before.
- Working from above, hook the right side wall (5b)
into the support plate (2a) and into the bolts on the
oor of the boiler.
6. Fit the cables on the edge of the automatic ring
device (2f) and attach with a cable tie (Detail D).
7. Mount the controller box:
-Remove the shoulder screw (7, Figure 14).
-Establish the plug-in connections between the
control (7a) and the automatic ring device (2f)
(bus connection RS485, connector XU).
-Route the return sensor (RLF/VE1) from the bottom
section to the control and plug it in.
-Hook the controller box (7a) into the side walls
(5a, 5b) and t the shoulder screw again.
-Connect the safety temperature limiter (STB) (7b)
by attaching at connector at mounting tongues 1
and 2. Position and attach the capillary sensor (7c)
in the immersion sleeve on the bottom section.
8. Fit the protection plate (8, Detail A) with one screw
(8a, M5x12) each on the left and right.

2.3.6 Fitting the casing and the pellet hopper
1. The controller box (1, Figure 15) was already pre-
mounted in Chapter 2.3.5.
2. Holding it at a slight angle, mount the lower back
panel (2) on the screws of the casing side panel.
3. Mount the middle (3a) and upper back panel (3b) on
the casing side panel.
4. Fit the pellet hopper using screws:
- First, turn the four M8x25 screws with collar (in the
pellet hopper screw set included with the delivery)
into the brackets (4) on the boiler (spacing approx.
1 cm).
- BioLyt (8,13) only:
Remove the pellet hopper lid (4b, Figure 15) by
releasing the screws (4c). Attach the cover plate
(4d, Detail F) to the pellet hopper using two M5
nuts (4f) and serrated washers (4e) and two self-
tapping screws Ø 3.5x10 (4g).
- Hook the pellet hopper (4a) into the two brackets
on the boiler and lock the screws (access from
the rear).
5. Fit the connection hose (Detail E):
- Loosely t the two jubilee clips (5) onto the
connection hose (5a).
- Align the connection hose with the burner mechanism
and the pellet hopper.
- Secure the connection hose in position at the top
and bottom with the jubilee clip (5).

(Option), proceed from Chapter 2.3.7.
6. Mount the burner cover:
- Working from below, hook the burner cover
(6, Figure 15) into the pins provided on the pellet
hopper and push towards the front.
Fit self-tapping locking screw M4,8x16
(6a) at the back on the pellet hopper
bracket to prevent the burner cover (6)
being removed.
7. Mount the cover plate (7) on the side walls using four
self-tapping screws M4,8x13 and serrated washers
(in the casing screw set).
8. Hook upper front cover (8) into the side walls and
secure with self-tapping screw M3.5x10 (8a).
9. Fit cover (9) onto the casing side panel.
10. Attach the front door (Detail G):
- Attach the front door (10) by lifting the hinge
pin (10a) on the top and bottom of the left side wall.
11. Fit the ash box (for detailed information, see the
BioLyt (8-36) operating manual).
- Open the cover for the ash screw on the back.
- Slide the ash box (11, Figure 15) onto the ash pipe.
- The ash box must be positioned at the top right with
the help of the stop.
- Fix the ash box in position by closing the two bottom
spring clips (11a)!
- If the spring clips close too rmly or too loosely,
they can be adjusted with the four stop screws
(11b, Figure 14).

2.3.7 Fitting the RAS 81 suction system (Option)
1. Dismantle the additional cover (1a, Figure 16)
and then the pellet hopper lid (1b) by releasing
screws (1c) and (1d). The additional cover (1a) is no
longer required!
2. Fix the edge protection prole (2b) in position (2a) in
the pellet hopper (2, Figure 17).
3. Remove the round plastic cover (3) on the back right
of the pellet hopper (2, Figure 16). Fit the plastic
rings provided at the top and bottom of the apertures.
The plastic cover is no longer required!
4. Pull the protective lm off the sound absorbing mat (4,
Figure 17). When attaching the mat, ensure that it is
aligned precisely with the aperture (4a) on the pellet
hopper (see Figure 17).
5. Place the suction system (5) on the four M6 threaded
bolts (5a). Place a plastic insulating sleeve (5b)
(with the collar facing downwards) and a large
washer (5c) on each bolt and then x the suction
system in position with self-locking nuts (5d).
6. Route the extension cable of the suction system
out through the top aperture (3, Figure 16) on the
pellet hopper and downwards towards the burner.
Then route the extension cable in again through the
bottom aperture to the automatic ring device and
connect it as shown in the wiring diagram.
7. Attach the cable duct (7, Figure 17) to the pellet
hopper (2) using M5x35 screws.
8. Attach the round sound absorbing mat (8)
(remove protective lm) at the position provided (Detail
H). Attach the pellet hopper lid (1b, Figure 16) to the
pellet hopper (2) using screws (1c). Then attach sound
absorbing mat (8a) to the additional lid (8b) (remove
protective lm) in centred position and x in place with
screws (1d).

3. Technical information
3.1 Brief description
The BioLyt has been designed for the low-emission
combustion of wood pellets in accordance with
ÖNORM M 7135 and DIN 51731, HP5 (/ DINplus) and
EN 14961-2, A1 / ENplus. The core element of the
BioLyt is a rugged horizontal burner tube, which provides
a stable re bed with its large, plate-shaped burner.
The post-combustion ring and dust separator above the
burner plate give it a distinct design. By combining these
features, the burner is able to keep dust emissions to
a minimum. This is yet another eco-friendly feature, since
it burns with practically no ash residue and provides for
stable operation even with variable pellet quality.
The BioLyt features a standard pellet hopper and an
optional fully-automated pellet feed system. When the
integrated pellet hopper is used exclusively, it needs to
be relled manually. When combined with the pellet feed
system, the hopper is lled automatically from a store.
This feeder unit with suction turbine transports the pellets
through a exible tube from the storage room directly to
the hopper. The hopper is lled within minutes on a time-
controlled and as-needed basis, which is usually twice
a day.
