Removable/rechargeable battery
Keep your HP iPAQ Pocket PC running longer when you are away from your desk. The 1250-mAh
Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) polymer battery included with the h5500 series is easy to install, remove, and
recharge. An internal backup battery allows you to swap the main removable battery while the system
power is in standby mode. A 2500-mAh Li-Ion polymer battery is sold as an accessory.

Screen
One of the innovations that HP will continue to support is the use of the transflective display. A
transflective display combines transmissive and reflective technologies. However, it is backlit and,
like the reflective display on earlier devices, optimized for outdoor use. It offers over 65,000 brilliant
colors and a high-contrast ratio with rich color saturation. This new display technology provides
crisper, clearer images and text.
Integrated SD slot
An integrated Secure Digital (SD) slot supports SD and MultiMediaCard (MMC) memory cards and is
Secured Digital Input/Output (SDIO)-ready, so you can easily expand your storage capacity, play
multimedia files, and bring important documents with you. In the future, peripheral SDIO options will
be offered. These products (cameras, scanners, etc.) from third-party developers, will utilize the SDIO-

The 400-MHz Intel XScale Technology–Based Processor in the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 series
focuses on accelerating multimedia and security.
Increased memory
Many customers have expressed the need to safely store critical information. The HP iPAQ File Store
is non-volatile memory used to house critical data, databases, and other important files. The HP iPAQ
File Store protects stored data from being erased if a battery discharge or full reset occurs. The HP
iPAQ File Store can also serve as an HP iPAQ Backup destination. The h5500 series offers up to 17
MB of storage space.
The HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 series offers 128 MB of SDRAM and 48 MB of Flash ROM.
Backup and restore
The HP iPAQ Backup application on the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 series protects data and allows
fast and easy backup and restore, selective backup and restore, scheduled backups, battery
monitoring, password protection, and compression of the backup file. The selective backup-and-
restore feature allows you to back up the entire system, a specific file, or a database. Backups can be
scheduled based on defined times, dates, or battery levels. Scheduled backup and battery monitoring
notifies the user with the option to accept, decline, or postpone the backup.
