1 Preparing for Installation
1.1 Audience
This guide is intended for HP service representatives and other persons trained to install hardware
options in HP 10000 series racks. Such persons are expected to understand the hazards of working
in this environment and to take suitable precautions to minimize danger to themselves and
others.

1.3 Kit Description
The cable management brackets described in this manual are designed to align and support the
InfiniBand cables that lead from an HP Cluster Platform Cisco SFS 7012D InfiniBand Interconnect
to the PCI interface cards installed in each server (node). The brackets provide strain relief for
the ports and cables and ensures a good connection. It also ensures the correct bend radius for
the cables and provides the necessary channels to route the cables and cable management.
1.4 Kit Contents
The kit contains the following components:
• The cable management brackets shown in Figure 1-1 “Cable Management Brackets”.

• Packaging and documentation.
To prevent screws from becoming loose because of vibration, HP recommends that you use an
adjustable torque driver set to the torque specifications given in Table 1-1. Contact your HP sales
representative if any parts are missing.
1.5 Required Resources
To install the kit, you require the following resources:
• Tools:
— Screwdriver, #2 (medium) Phillips.
— Cage-nut insertion tool (shipped with the rack) or a flat-bladed screwdriver.
— Marker pen or masking tape.
• Resources: A sample cable of the type used by the system interconnect.
• Environment:

— A work surface adjacent to the rack.
—A stable work platform or step stool that enables you to safely reach components installed
in the upper part of the rack.

2 Installing the Cable Management Brackets
Use the following procedure to install the Cisco SFS 7012D InfiniBand Interconnect Cable
Management Brackets.
The location of the bracket depends on the rack position occupied by the Cisco SFS 7012D
InfiniBand Interconnect. The Cisco SFS 7012D InfiniBand Interconnect used in an HP Cluster
Platform solutions are installed in the lower “U” locations of an HP 10K G2 Series Rack.
1. Determine the cable management bracket installation locations by aligning the cable
management bracket's cable channels with the rows of ports on the rear of the Cisco SFS
7012D InfiniBand Interconnect. Each of the cable management bracket's channels must line
up with the six rows of ports on the back of the Cisco SFS 7012D Series InfiniBand
Interconnect. The cable management brackets (callout 3 in Figure 2-1) mount above the
interconnect's rackmount bracket's rear mounting flanges (see callout 5 in Figure 2-1).
2. Fasten the cable management brackets to the rear rack rails using two M6 screws and two
cage nuts for each cable management bracket, as shown in Figure 2-1.
3. Tighten the fasteners to the recommended torque as shown in Table 1-1 (page 10).

2.1 Cable Routing Options
Figure 2-2 shows the cable routing options for the Cisco SFS 7012D Cable Management Brackets.

egress, if necessary.

egress, if necessary.
2.2 Removing the Cisco SFS 7012D InfiniBand Interconnect for Service
Bring the component to an appropriate state for removal, and put the rack cabinet into a safe
and stable state for component removal. You must ensure that you can reach the component
easily and handle it safely. Remove the interconnect as follows:
1. Switch off the power supply from the rack's power distribution unit and disconnect the
interconnect's power cables.
2. Disconnect and remove each network cable until all networking ports are unplugged.
3. Remove the InfiniBand cables connectors from all of the ports. When disconnecting the
cable, ensure that you do not bend it more than the recommended bend radius. The cable
specifications are provided in the documentation for your cluster type.
4. Unlock and slide the interconnect all the way out of the rack, such as to reverse the installation
procedure as described in the Cisco SFS 7012D Series InfiniBand Interconnect User Manual.
