About This Guide
HP TopTools is a PC management application based on Desktop
Management Interface (DMI) standards. These standards, defined by
the Desktop Management Task Force (DMTF) committee of which
Hewlett-Packard was a cofounder, have now been adopted by all
leading manufacturers of desktop computer systems.
You should use this guide to learn how to implement HP TopTools for
Desktops 3.0 Agent client software package and associated
management tools in your desktop management environment. This
guide covers HP Vectra PCs, HP Kayak PC Workstations, and HP
OmniBooks.
This guide also includes sections describing TopTools 2.5 consoles.
Who This Guide Is For
This guide is for network managers and administrators, and other
Information Systems and Information Technology staff with
responsibilities for desktop management. The guide provides
information on how to implement TopTools in the desktop management
environment.
The guide assumes a high level of knowledge with regard to operating
systems and software installation procedures.
On Windows®NT®systems you will need Administrator privileges to be
able to install TopTools software.
