The HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader
provides cost-effective, high capacity automated
backup as a perfect entry point to unattended data
protection for small and medium businesses,
workgroups or remote offices.
With a compressed capacity of up to 12.8 TB* using
LTO-4 Ultrium1760 Tape Drives, the 1/8 G2 Tape
Autoloader provides complete peace of mind. No
more struggling to remember to change tapes or start
backup programs.
The 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader is available with a
choice of LTO Ultrium SAS and SCSI tape drives.
It holds up to eight data cartridges for a week’s worth
of backup and delivers easy media management
through the standard barcode reader and two 4-slot
removable magazines. Designed in a compact 1U
form factor, the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape
Autoloader is equally at home in a data center rack or
on a desk top next to the office server. The autoloader
can be used in either direct-attached backup for
multiple servers or across a LAN with remote
management simplified by a browser-based interface
to reduce dependencies on local IT staff.
The HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader

The HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader comes
as a complete solution with HP StorageWorks Data
Protector Express, Single Server Edition for
Windows/Linux/NetWare.
Simple to use, easy to manage – the 1/8 G2
autoloader provides an ideal transition from stand-
alone to automated tape backup. By automatically
changing tapes, manual intervention is minimized and
operating errors are reduced, enabling more reliable
and consistent backups. An integrated web-based
remote management capability allows a remote
administrator to control, configure, monitor and
troubleshoot the device and eliminating the need for
costly on-site IT resources.
Agility in storage and movement of data – each
autoloader includes a user-configurable mail slot for
the import/export of media cartridges. The autoloader
includes two removable 4-slot magazines for bulk
loading of media and also provides a convenient bulk
storage unit for moving media off-site. A standard bar
code reader provides faster inventory times and
facilitates tracking of media.
Added data security – to greatly enhance data
privacy, the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Autoloader is
available with LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 hardware
encrypting tape drives for secure, high-performance
backup. HP offers an HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 and
MSL LTO-4 Encryption Kit designed as an affordable,
easy to use, self-contained encryption solution.
Reduced installation time – the 1/8 G2 autoloader
is delivered as rack-ready for quick installation in a
standard 19" rack, with the purchase of a separate
rack-kit. It can also be converted to a tabletop
configuration by simply installing the enclosed
rubber feet.
Customer serviceable and replaceable components –
the easy to manage modular design of the 1/8 G2
autoloader allows for quick service or repair of units to
reduce downtime and maximize efficiency.
