Adaptable on the turbine connection of your dental unit, the air polishing AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 functions
with the powders provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS.
The confinement of the powder by a water jet makes it possible to steer the water jet with great precision
and thus ensures a pleasant treatment for your patient.
This product removes dental plaque, soft deposits and surface stains from pits, grooves, interproximal
spaces or smooth surfaces of the teeth.

TREATMENT
Indications fur use
The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 Dental Handpiece is a dental handpiece intended for use in the cleaning and
polishing of teeth by the projection of a mixture of water, air, and Hu-Friedy & EMS prophylaxis powder
onto the tooth surface.
The device removes soft deposits and areas of discoloration and can be used to prepare teeth for dental
procedures such as the placement of composite fillings, porcelain inlays, and laminate veneers.
The device can be used to clean implant abutments and to clean teeth prior to treatments such as shade
matching, fluoridation, and bleaching.
The device can also be used to degrease crowns and bridges prior to placement and clean fixed bands
and brackets on orthodontic appliances.
Contra-indications
In order to avoid any risk of emphysema, hypersensitivity, bleeding and patient discomfort, the
use of supragingival powders (Hu-Friedy & EMS CLASSIC, CLASSIC COMFORT and SOFT) is strictly
forbidden during subgingival treatments (contacts with soft tissues, dentine, cementum).
Patients suffering from chronic bronchitis or asthma must not, under any circumstances, be treated
with an air polishing device. The jet of air and powder could cause respiratory difficulties.
Patients on a low salt diet must not be treated with a powder containing sodium bicarbonate. For
patients on a law salt diet use the powders without sodium bicarbonate provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS.
Predisposed persons may be sensitive to the powder. If allergic reactions are observed, stop using
the product and completely remove it.
The aromatized powder provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS can lead, in specific cases, to allergic
reactions to the flavour. For patients known to suffer such reactions, use the powders without flavour
provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS.

TRAITEMENT
Indications
L' AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 est un appareil dentaire destiné à être utilisé pour le nettoyage et le polissage
des dents par projection d'un mélange d'eau, d'air, et poudre de prophylaxie Hu-Friedy & EMS sur la
surface de la dent.
Le dispositif élimine les légers dépôts et les zones de décoloration et peut être utilisé pour préparer
les dents à des interventions dentaires telles que le placement des garnitures composites, inlays de
porcelaine, et les facettes.
Le dispositif peut être utilisé pour nettoyer les piliers d'implants et pour nettoyer les dents avant de traite-
ments tels que la prise de teinte, la fluoration et le blanchiment.
Le dispositif peut également être utilisé pour dégraisser les couronnes et les bridges avant le placement
de bandes et supports sur des appareils orthodontiques fixes.
Contre-indications
Afin d’éviter tout risque d’emphysème, d’hypersensibilité, de saignements et d’inconfort patient,
l’utilisation des poudres supra gingivales Hu-Friedy & EMS (CLASSIC, CLASSIC COMFORT et SOFT)
est strictement interdite lors de traitements sous-gingivaux (contact avec tissus mous, dentine, cément).
Les patients souffrant de bronchite chronique ou d’asthme ne doivent en aucun cas être traités
avec un aéropolisseur. Le jet d’air et de poudre pourrait provoquer des difficultés respiratoires.
Les patients soumis à un régime pauvre en sel ne doivent pas être traités avec de la poudre
composée de bicarbonate de sodium. Pour les patients soumis à un régime pauvre en sel, utiliser les
poudres sans bicarbonate de sodium fournies par Hu-Friedy & EMS.
Une sensibilité à la poudre chez les personnes prédisposées n’est pas à exclure. Si des réactions
allergiques se manifestent, cesser l’utilisation et enlever complètement le produit.
La poudre aromatisée fournie par Hu-Friedy & EMS peut conduire, dans certains cas isolés, à
l’apparition de réactions allergiques à l’arôme. Pour les patients chez lesquels de telles réactions sont
connues, utiliser les poudres sans arôme fournies par Hu-Friedy & EMS.

(1000- 2200 hPa)
• Water temperature max. 40°C
Compressed air supply
• Air pressure : 2.7 ≤P ≤3.5 bar
(2700-3500 hPa).
Use only dry and clean air (oil-free).

Checking the turbine connection (Typical is shown)
The unit is equipped with an adapter specially designed for the turbine connection of your dental unit. Only use the unit with this special turbine connection.
To connect it to another type of turbine will damage it.
The turbine of your dental unit must not be under pressure when the AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 is connected. Do not activate the turbine foot pedal. If you
have a turbine equipped with light, turn the light off.
Make sure the o-rings of your turbine connection are in good condition. A turbine connection with o-rings in bad condition can damage the unit.
The user should check the compatibility of this connection with his chair.

vous disposez d’une turbine avec lumière, éteignez la lumière.
Assurez-vous que les o-rings de votre raccord de turbine sont en bon état. Un raccord de turbine avec des o-rings en mauvais état peut endommager
l’appareil.
L'utilisateur doit vérifier la compatibilité de cette connexion avec son fauteuil dentaire.

HANDPIECE CONNECTION
Drying the sterilized handpiece
Clean and sterilize the handpiece before first use and after each treatment as described in the chapter "Cleaning and sterilizing" in this manual.
Following sterilization, blow the interior of the handpiece from both sides with compressed air to eliminate possible humidity.

Connecting to the dental unit
The turbine connection and the connector must be absolutely dry. Moisture at the connection can cause blockage in the air/powder channels of the unit.

Setting the water flow rate
Never use the handpiece without water flow.
It is better to set the water flow rate before using the device for the first time while the powder chamber is empty.
Set the water flow rate from dental unit to obtain a small continuous spray.
