In this document, eRRU3232 is used as an example. Difference in
installation and operation of other eRRU products are also described.
CAUTION
•In all scenarios, the eRRU must be installed vertically.
•Do not stand the eRRU upright because the load-bearing capacity of the RF ports at the bottom of the eRRU is low.
•Place a foam pad or cardboard on the ground to protect the housing of the eRRU from damage before the binding.
Installing the Mounting Kits on the Wall eRRU Installation Process
•For a single RRU, the wall can bear four
times of the weight of an RRU.
•Expansion bolts must be tightened to 30 N·m
to ensure that the bolts work properly and the
wall remains intact without cracks in it.
NOTE
Before installing the RRU, check the RRU and
accessories based on the equipment packing list and
ensure that all materials are complete.

Installing a single RRU
a
1200 mm to 1600 mm
1. Determine a position for installing
the mounting kits.

Check whether the
hoist clamp on the
main mounting
bracket is secured
properly.
CAUTION
2. Loosen the two M10 nuts on the mounting
kits, and horizontally remove one end of the
M10 bolt from the U notch.
3. Install the bracket assembly on a pole. Then,
place the removed end of the bolt into the U notch.
5. Install the RRU on the main mounting
bracket until the RRU snaps shut.
- Do not remove the plastic screw caps from the bolts on the mounting kits.
- Tighten the two dual-nut bolt assemblies alternatively. After the main and
auxiliary mounting bracket are secured properly, measure the spacing between
the brackets on both sides and ensure that the spacing is the same on the two
sides.

1. Install the first RRU.
4. Installing the second RRU.
The distance between the bottom of the hoop of the second eRRU and
that of the first eRRU is the height of an eRRU module.
3. Interchange the cover plate in the front and the attachment plate and stainless steel
screws at the rear of the second RRU.

1. Place the auxiliary mounting bracket
against the installation position, use a
level to verify that the auxiliary mounting
bracket is placed horizontally, and then
mark anchor points with a marker.

2. Drill holes at the anchor points, and then
insert expansion bolt assemblies.
Do not screw the expansion bolt entirely into the wall. Instead,
leave 20 mm to 30 mm of the expansion bolt outside the wall.
When installing the RRU on the wall, the expansion bolts must
be tightened to 30 N·m to ensure the bolts work properly and
the wall remains intact without cracks in it.

Installing a single eRRU
a
Installing an eRRU on a special pole(114mm ≤ Pole Diameter ≤ 220mm)
1. Determine a position for installing
the hold hoop. (Unit: mm)
2. Pass the hold hoop through the main
mounting bracket of eRRU. Mount the hold
hoop and mounting bracket’s assembly on the
pole and have them tightened, with a tightening
torque of 28N.m.
3. Install the eRRU on the main mounting
bracket until the eRRU snaps shut.
When installing the eRRU, do
not loosen the connecting
screw. Loosen it downwards
when removing the eRRU.
Mounting the second eRRU is similar to
the way for mounting the first eRRU. The
distance between the bottom of the hold
hoop of the second eRRU and that of the
first eRRU is the height of an eRRU
module.
During back to back installation, it is
recommended that removing the
backward conversion bracket of the
second eRRU to the front, insure the
cabling cavities of the two eRRUs are in
the same direction.

1. Prepare an RRU PGND cable and add an OT terminal to each end of the cable.
2. Connect the M6 OT terminal at one end of the PGND cable to the ground terminal at the
bottom of the RRU and the M8 OT terminal at the other end to the external ground bar.
1. Connect the Type N connector at one end
of the RF jumper to the ANT port and the
other end to the external antenna system.
2. Waterproof the connectors of the RF
jumper by adopting the 1+3+3 waterproof
method.

1.When eRRU3253 8T8R is equipped with 8paths antenna for routine use, the
calibration port is required to connect to the antenna.
2. If eRRU3253 paths need to be divided, do not connect any cable to the
calibration port and waterproof the calibration port.
If a filter is provided, connect it to the eRRU
as shown in the figure above.

1. Prepare RRU power cable connectors. DC RRU: Add a tool-less female connector (pressfit type) to the
RRU power cable by referring to the description of preparing cables delivered with the RRU.
2. Connect the tool-less female connector (pressfit type) at one end of the RRU power cable to the power
supply socket at the bottom of the RRU.

•When the remote distance of the RRU is more than 40 m
but less than or equal to 100 m, the RRU is connected to
the 3.3 square-meter DC power cable and then to the 8.2
square-meter DC power cable on the power supply device
through an OCB adapter.
•Ensure that the exposed shield layer of the power cable is
properly tightened using the cable clip.
The 1+3+3 waterproof is required for
AC cable connectors on the eRRU side.
Note that the waterproof tape on the
eRRU3232 (AC) side must be wrapped
away from the four fastening screws on
the bottom of the power connector. After
wrapping the tape upwards to the
connector bottom and connecting it to a
flange base, use cable ties to bind the
two ends of the tape.

Install the optical fiber in the cable clip near the power cable to leave some slack at the bend.
Tighten the screws on the cable clip to 1.4 N·m.
1. Lower the puller of the optical module, insert an optical module into the CPRI0/IR0 port on the
RRU, and raise the puller.

5. Label the installed cable.
4. Lay out the cable and bind the cable using cable ties.
2. Remove the optical fiber cap and connect one end of the optical fiber to the optical module
on the RRU. If one optical fiber is used, the port connected to the optical module is
CPRI0/IR0 by default.
3. Connect the other end of the optical fiber to the optical module on the BBU.
•The optical modules to be installed must match CPRI rates.
•The two optical modules connected to the same optical fiber must of the same specification.
•The performance of an optical module that is exposed to air for more than 20 minutes may be abnormal.
Therefore, you must insert an optical fiber into an unpacked optical module within 20 minutes.

The RRU antenna ports are connected to the RF ports at the bottom of the RRU in sequence through RF
jumpers. In addition, the antenna ports are sealed using the 1+3+3 waterproof method. For details, see
Appendix c.
For details about matched RRU antenna specifications, see Antenna Technical Description. For details
about how to install antennas, see Hardware Installation Guide.

1 The position for each device conforms to the engineering drawing and meets the space requirement. Sufficient
space is reserved for equipment maintenance.
2 When installing the RRU on the pole, secure the bracket and ensure that the devices are tightened properly.
3 When installing the RRU on the wall, the holes in the auxiliary bracket are well aligned with those for expansion
bolts. The mounting bracket is placed against the wall securely and evenly.
4 Waterproof blocks are securely installed in vacant cable troughs of the RRU cabling cavity, and the cover plate for
the cabling cavity is securely installed. In addition, vacant RF ports are covered with dustproof caps and the caps
are tightened.

The optical modules at both ends of the optical fiber have the same specifications, rate, and transmission distance.

1. Bind the RRU and the main and auxiliary mounting brackets properly using a lifting sling.
2. Use a fixed pulley to hoist the RRU and mounting kits
onto the tower separately.
1. After climbing up to the tower, installation engineer A secures the fixed pulley to the tower platform support and
leads the lifting sling through the fixed pulley.
2. Installation engineer C binds the eRRU and mounting kits using the lifting sling and secures the traction sling to the
RRU handle.
3. Installation engineer B pulls the lifting sling downwards, and installation engineer C pulls the traction sling outwards
to protect the RRU and mounting kits from colliding with the tower.
4. Installation engineer A catches the RRU and mounting kits and then unties the sling.
The preceding hoisting procedure is for reference only.
•When hoisting the RRU and mounting kits onto the tower,
protect them from colliding with the tower.
•Hoist the RRU onto the tower before it is installed on a pole.

Do not hoist only the RRU hander onto the tower. Do
not fasten the lifting sling on the cable cavity hander.
Otherwise, the lifting sling may fall down, thereby
damaging devices or causing personal injuries.

Appearance of the tool-less female connector (pressfit type)
1. Open the cover plate for the cabling cavity, take out the tool-less
female connector (pressfit type), and determine the length of the
power cables for different operations based on the labels on the
cover plate for the cabling cavity.
2. Use the cable cutter or cable stripper to strip the cable sheath
off the power cable based on the determined length.
3. Strip the cable sheath off each core wire.

1. Use a guarded blade utility to strip the sheath of the power cable about 63 mm to expose the shield layer.
2. Tightly wrap the copper of the grounding clip on the cable shield layer and tightly bind copper with
cable ties. Cut off the ties along the ends of the ties evenly without leaving sharp edges.
3. Wrap the grounding clips with three layers of waterproof tape and three layers of PVC insulation tape.
