1. Preset Mode, Stompbox
Mode, Direct 7 Mode
Preset Mode lets you switch the sound settings configu-
red and stored on the amp. There are 128 memory slots
arranged in 32 banks of 4 presets each. Stompbox Mode
is tailored to Hughes & Kettner amps. It lets you switch
channels directly as you would on a conventional amp.
Please check your amp’s manual to see if it is set up to
handle this function. Direct 7 Mode lets you store and
select the seven most popular presets directly.

Changing modes with button combinations (3 standard
modes + 1 alternate mode)
Press and hold TAP in combination with A for three seconds
to select modes via BANK UP/DOWN rather than with the
sliding switch on the connector panel.
Switching with a combination of buttons lets you access
a fourth option called Bank Direct Mode. Think of it as
an alternate Preset Mode that activates the target preset
immediately when you switch between banks. In other
words, you do not have to select and confirm the preset

first with one of the A-to-D buttons on the FSM 432-MK IV.
The following will then appear in the display:

Control 1: Control 2:
Control 1: Press TAP and D until 07 appears in the display
(7 = Volume preset). The dot behind the second digit starts
flashing. Then simultaneously release the buttons and set
the controller number with the Up/Down buttons. Confirm
your selection by pressing TAP.
Control 2: Press TAP and C until 64 appears in the display
(64 = Volume preset). The dot behind the first digit starts
flashing. Then follow the same procedure as for Control 1.
You can find a list of controller numbers in the operating
manuals of Hughes & Kettner amps that support these
functions.
3. Global and Preset Mode
You can assign a function to an expression pedal or switch
globally or individually for each preset.
Press TAP and B to change the mode, holding the B button
down for three seconds. The following will then appear in
the display:

4. Troubleshooting
If your amp fails to respond when you engage a connected
expression pedal, proceed as follows:
Press TAP and Down when connecting the power supply
or MIDI Out to the power supply. The FSM 432-MK IV
display will then show the positions of pedals connected
to controller inputs. Values are given as a percentage (0-
99%) of the pedal’s total control range. The LEDs run from
left to right as the value increases. Press TAP to exit the
menu.
5. Power supply
The FSM-432 MK IV can run on phantom power provi-
ded via the 7-pin MIDI port from amps such as the Black Spirit
and Grandmeister. Please see the manual of your amp to
learn more. In this case, you will not need a dedicated po-
wer supply. You can also plug a 5-pin MIDI cable into
the FSM-432 MK IV’s MIDI Out port to connect it to any
MIDI-enabled device. In this case, you have to operate
the FSM-432 MK IV with a standard DC or AC power
supply providing at least 250 mA at a voltage between
9 and 15 volts.

6. MIDI
The MIDI In port serves to connect outboard MIDI devices
that send controller commands. The FSM-432 MK IV then
operates as a true MIDI merger, routing incoming commands
from the MIDI In port through to the MIDI Out port.To
change the MIDI channel press A while connecting the 7-pin
MIDI cable or power supply to the FSM-432 MK IV. Switch
the MIDI channel with Bank Up/Down. Press Tap to exit.
7. Reset
The MIDI In port serves to connect outboard MIDI devices
that send controller commands. The FSM-432 MK IV then
operates as a true MIDI merger, routing incoming com-
mands from the MIDI In port through to the MIDI Out port.

1. Preset-Mode, Stompbox-
Mode, Direct 7-Mode
Im Preset-Mode lassen sich Voreinstellungen umschalten,
die im Verstärker gespeichert sind. Dabei stehen 128 Spei-
cherplätze zur Verfügung, gegliedert in 32 Bänke mit je 4
Presets. Für den StompBox-Mode bitte in der Bedienungs-
anleitung des jeweiligen Verstärkers nachschauen ob diese
Funktion genutzt werden kann. Im Direct-7 Mode können
die 7 beliebtesten Presets abgelegt und direkt angewählt
werden.

Mode-Wechsel über Tastenkombination (4-Modes)
Wird die Taste TAP in Kombination mit A gedrückt und für
drei Sekunde gehalten, können die Modes statt über den
Schiebeschalter auf der Rückseite über BANK UP/DOWN
angewählt werden.
Zusätzlich gibt es beim Umschalten über Tastenkombi-
nation einen 4. Mode, bzw. einen alternativen Preset-
Mode, der aktiviert werden kann; den Bank-Direct-Mode.

Beim Umschalten zwischen den Bänken, schaltet der
FSM-432 MK 4 direkt das Preset um. In der Anzeige er-
scheint:

Control 1: Control 2:
Control 1: Tap und D. (7 = Volume voreingestellt); der Punkt
hinter der zweiten Ziffer blinkt. Dann gleichzeitig wieder
loslassen und die Controller Nummer einstellen. Danach
mit TAP bestätigen.
Control 2: TAP und C (64 = Boost ein/aus voreingestellt);
der Punkt hinter der ersten Ziffer blinkt. Wie bei Control
1 vorgehen.
Eine Liste der Controller-Nummern ist in den Bedienungs-
anleitungen der Hughes & Kettner Verstärker, die diese
Funktionen unterstützen.
3. Global- und Preset-Mode
Welcher Funktion ein Expression-Pedal oder ein Schalter
zugewiesen ist, lässt sich global oder pro Preset einstellen.
Bei gedrückt gehaltenem TAP kann mit B der Mode ge-
wechselt werden, dabei B jeweils drei Sekunden gedrückt
halten. Im Display wird Folgendes angezeigt:

4. Troubleshooting
Für den Fall, dass Bewegungen an einem angeschlossenen
Expression-Pedal keine Änderung am Amp hervorrufen,
folgendermaßen vorgehen:
Beim Anschließen des Netzteils oder des MIDI Out zur
Stromversorgung TAP und Down drücken. Das Display des
FSM-432 MK IV zeigt hier den Schwellerwert der an die
Controllereingänge angeschlossenen Pedale in Prozent an
(0-99%). Die LEDs laufen mit steigendem Wert von links
nach rechts durch. Zum Verlassen des Menüs TAP drücken.
5. Stromversorgung
Die Stromversorgung ist beim Anschluss über die 7-Pol
MIDI-Buchse mit Phantomspeisung möglich, zum Beispiel
bei Black Spirit und Grandmeister. Hierzu in der Bedie-
nungsanleitung des jeweiligen Verstärkers nachschauen.
Ein separates Netzteil wird in diesem Fall nicht benötigt.
Auch der Anschluss über ein 5-Pin MIDI-Kabel an alle
MIDI-fähigen Geräte über den MIDI Out ist möglich.
Der FSM-432 MK IV muss in diesem Fall jedoch mit einem
handelsüblichen Gleichspannungs- oder Wechselspan-
nungs-Netzteil, das mindestens 250mA bei einer Spannung
zwischen 9 und 15 Volt liefert, betrieben werden.
*Ein 7-Pin MIDI-Kabel ist im Lieferumfang enthalten.
6. MIDI
Der MIDI In kann verwendet werden, um weitere MIDI Gerä-
te anzuschließen, von denen Steuerbefehle gesendet werden.
Der FSM-432 MK IV dient dann als echter MIDI-Merger und
gibt die am MIDI In ankommenden Befehle an den MIDI Out
weiter. Um den MIDI Kanal zu ändern, beim Anschließen ei-
nes 7-Pin MIDI-Kabel oder Netzteils an den FSM-432 MK IV,
die Taste A gedrückt halten und mit Bank Up/Down einstellen.
Zum Verlassen des Menüs TAP drücken.
7. Reset
Werden TAP und BANK UP beim Einschalten gehalten, setzt
sich der FSM-432 Mark IV in den Werkszustand zurück.
