3 Performance overview
The ConditionSensorInterface CSI-C-11 is an easy-to-use,
compact Condition Monitoring system for fluid-oriented ma-
chine condition monitoring.
Depending on the device configuration, up to two HYDAC HSI
SMART (fluid) sensors and four analogue sensors can be con-
nected to the CSI-C-11 via M12 connectors and supplied with
voltage. Once the sensor values and signals have been read,
they are stored on the integrated data logger, evaluated in
terms of their plausibility and monitored to check whether limit
values have been exceeded. Limit values are set according to
the measured variable with the aid of an assistant. If a limit
value is exceeded, the CSI-C-11 will automatically send out an
alarm via e-mail or the Ethernet and fieldbus interface (Mod-
bus®). This makes it possible to transfer the measured values
to higher-level company networks, condition monitoring sys-
tems (ConditionMonitoring) or control systems (PLCs) in the
HYDAC CMX (cloud).
The special features of the CSI-C-11 include:
– Input channels for 2 HYDAC HSI SMART (fluid) sensors
and 4 analog sensors (optional)
– Sensors and network cables are directly connected via
M12x1 connectors
– Transfer and display of sensor readings via W-LAN, Ether-
net (LAN) and fieldbus (Modbus®)
– The CSI-C-11 stores measurement data
– Integrated algorithms for plausibility checks of measured
values
– An assistant helps to set alarm limits for fluid sensors
– Notifications via e-mail or the network in the event of an
alarm
– Transfer of measured data into the HYDAC CMX (Cloud).
– High protection class with IP66, no need for switch cabi-
net

3.3 Proper/Designated Use
Use the ConditionSensorInterface CSI-C-11 only for the appli-
cation described in the following.
Depending on the device type, the ConditionSensorInterface
CSI-C-11 serves to implement digital (HSI SMART sensors
with the HydacSensorInterface HSI) and analog sensor sig-
nals (e.g. 4 - 20 mA) in multiple network protocols (e.g.
HSITCP/IP and Modbus® TCP) and fieldbus protocols (e.g.
Modbus® RTU) which can be transmitted both by cable (LAN)
and wirelessly (W-LAN) to stationary (e.g. desktop PC) and
mobile terminal devices (e.g. smartphone). In addition, the
CSI-C-11 has an internal memory through which the interface
module can also be used as a data logger. Depending on the
type of device, for example, two HSI SMART sensors and four
analog sensors can be connected.
For example:
Permissible HSI SMART sensors (digital):
–CS1000 Series
–AS1000 Series
–MetallicContaminationsensor MCS1000 series
–HYDACLab HLB1000 series
Permitted analog sensors with an analog output:
– 4-20mA (load =500Ω)
– 0-20mA (load =500Ω)
– 0…10VDC
– 0…5VDC
– 2…10VDC
– 1…5VDC
– Example: Temperature measurement transformer,
pressure measurement transformer, differential pres-
sure sensors, volumetric flow sensors or level sensors

3.4 Improper Use or Use Deviating from Intended Use
Improper use or use deviating from intended may result in haz-
ards and/or will damage the sensor. Examples of improper use
or use deviating from intended use include:
– Operation with non-approved sensors.
– Operation with more than two HSI SMART sensors.
– Operation with more than four analog sensors.
– Modifications to the interface made by the user or pur-
chaser.
