Introduction
Purpose
This Field Service Bulletin describes the procedure for installing an RS-485 serial interface port.
Tools and materials needed
Assorted Phillips®and TORX®screwdrivers

Disconnect electrical power before performing any maintenance.
All work requiring removal of the power supply cover must be performed
by a qualified technician.
See the Safety and Compliance Manual (80669C) provided with your
product for more safety precautions.

Remove the power supply cover and component barrier
1. Set the power switch to OFF (O), disconnect the power cord from the power source, and
disconnect the gas supply.
2. Remove the 2 screws from the power supply handle . You may need to gently pull up on the
handle to remove the screws.
3. Gently tilt the tops of the front and rear panels away from the unit to pull the handle out.

4. Slide the cover off.
5. Remove the 2 plastic pins that secure the component barrier to the main power board. Slide the
component barrier off.

Install the RS-485 serial interface port
1. Snap the RS-485 board into place on the center panel. Make sure the plastic tabs secure the
board.
2. From inside the rear panel, push out the rectangle marked by perforation on the rear panel label.
This exposes the mounting hole for the connector.
NOTICE
Do not route the ground wire and the longer cable from the RS-485 board below the fan. Doing
so can cause the wires to be pinched by the fan. If any wires get pinched behind the fan, this can
not only damage the wires but also prevent the fan from functioning correctly.

3. Attach the ground wire ring terminal to the ground stud . Refer to the figure below. Tighten the
ground stud screw to 17.3 kg∙cm (15 inch·pounds).
Make sure all other ground wires remain connected to the ground stud.
Rotate the ground wire terminals on the stud so that each wire points in a
different direction.
4. Route the ground wire between the fan and the solenoid valve. Plug the quick-connect end of
the ground cable into the blade terminal on the RS-485 board .
5. Plug the short interface cable into J2 on the RS-485 board. Route the other end toward the
main power board. Run the cable through the plastic clip and the center panel pass-through
that is labeled “RS-485” . Plug it into J11 on the main power board.
6. Route the longer cable between the fan and the solenoid valve. Route one end of the cable
through the mounting hole in the rear panel. Plug the other end into J1 on the RS-485 board.
7. Attach the rear panel connector using 2 screws. Tighten the screws to 7 kg∙cm
(6 inch·pounds).

Install the component barrier and power supply cover
1. Make sure the ground clip is connected to the ground wire. The clip should be set in place to
accept the screw from the handle.
2. Make sure the component barrier is in place and secured to the main power board with 2 plastic
pins.

3. Wrap the extended portion of the component barrier over the power cord connection points and
behind the gas hose or into the middle of the gas hose loop.
4. Slide the cover back on.
Make sure the louvers in the cover align with the fan.
Be careful not to pinch any wires.
5. Tilt the front and rear panels to reattach the handle. Position the handle over the holes in the top
of the cover, and position the ends of the handle underneath the edges of the panels.
6. Install the 2 screws that attach the cover and handle. Tighten to 23 kg∙cm (20 inch·pounds).
7. Reconnect the gas supply and the power cord.

série RS-485.

Avant tout entretien, débrancher l’alimentation électrique.
Tous les travaux nécessitant le retrait du couvercle de la source
de courant doivent être effectués par un technicien qualifié.
Se reporter au Manuel de sécurité et de conformité (80669C) inclut
avec votre appareil pour voir des mesures de sécurité supplémentaires.

Retrait du couvercle de la source de courant et de la barrière de composant
1. Couper l’alimentation (OFF) (O), débrancher le cordon d’alimentation de la source de courant
et débrancher l’alimentation en gaz.
2. Retirer les 2 vis de la poignée d’alimentation électrique . Vous pourriez devoir tirer
délicatement sur la poignée pour extraire les vis.
3. Éloigner délicatement la partie supérieure des panneaux avant et arrière de l’unité principale
pour retirer la poignée .

4. Retirer le couvercle en le faisant glisser.
5. Retirer les 2 goupilles en plastique qui fixent la barrière du composant au circuit imprimé
d’alimentation principal. Retirer la barrière de composant en la faisant glisser.

Installation du port d’interface série RS-485
1. Insérer le circuit imprimé RS-485 sur le panneau central. S’assurer que les languettes
en plastique maintiennent bien le circuit en place.
2. Retirer le rectangle perforé situé sur l’étiquette du panneau arrière en le poussant de l’intérieur
vers l’extérieur. Cela permet d’exposer l’orifice de montage du connecteur.
AVIS
Ne pas faire passer le fil de mise à la terre et le câble long du circuit imprimé RS-485 sous
le ventilateur. Il en résulterait le pincement du câble par le ventilateur. Si des fils se coincent
derrière le ventilateur, il peut en résulter non seulement un endommagement de ceux-ci,
mais également l’impossibilité pour le ventilateur de tourner correctement.

3. Relier la cosse ronde du fil de mise à la terre à la borne de masse . Se reporter à la figure
ci-dessous. Serrer la vis de la borne de masse à un couple de 17,3 kg∙cm.
S’assurer que tous les autres fils de mise à la terre sont reliés à la borne de masse.
Faire pivoter les connexions des fils de terre sur la borne de telle sorte que chaque
point de câble soit orienté dans une direction différente.
4. Faire passer le fil de mise à la terre entre le ventilateur et l’électrovanne. Brancher l’extrémité
du raccord rapide du câble de masse à la borne à lame plate du circuit RS-485 .
5. Raccorder le câble d’interface court en J2 sur le circuit imprimé RS-485. Acheminer l’autre
extrémité vers le circuit imprimé de l’alimentation principale. Faire passer le câble à travers
l’attache en plastique et le passe-câbles du panneau central libellé « RS-485 » . Brancher
cet élément en J11 sur le circuit imprimé de l’alimentation principale.
6. Faire passer le câble long derrière le ventilateur et l’électrovanne. Faire passer une extrémité
du câble à travers l’orifice de montage situé sur le panneau arrière. Raccorder l’autre extrémité
en J1 sur le circuit imprimé RS-485.
7. Fixer le connecteur du panneau arrière à l’aide de 2 vis. Serrer les vis en appliquant
un couple de serrage de 7 kg∙cm.

Installation de la barrière de composant et du couvercle de la source de courant
1. S’assurer que le collier de mise à la terre est connecté au fil de mise à la terre. Le collier doit
être en place pour permettre l’insertion des vis de la poignée.
2. S’assurer que la barrière de composant est bien en place et qu’elle est fixée au circuit imprimé
d’alimentation principal par 2 goupilles en plastique.

3. Faire passer la partie plus longue de la barrière par-dessus les branchements du cordon
d’alimentation et derrière le tuyau de gaz ou au milieu de la boucle du tuyau de gaz.
4. Glisser le couvercle en place.
S’assurer que les fentes du couvercle sont alignées avec le ventilateur.
S’assurer de ne pincer aucun fil.
5. Incliner les panneaux avant et arrière pour rattacher la poignée. Positionner la poignée sur les
orifices de la partie supérieure du couvercle, puis les extrémités de la poignée sous les bords
des panneaux.
6. Mettre en place les 2 vis qui maintiennent le couvercle et la poignée. Appliquer une force
de serrage de 23 kg∙cm.
7. Rebrancher l’alimentation en gaz et le cordon d’alimentation électrique.
