General Safety Guidelines for EMS Hardware Equipment
The following guidelines help ensure your safety and protect the hardware equipment from damage. The list
of guidelines might not address all potentially hazardous situations in your working environment, so be alert
and exercise good judgment at all times.
Perform only the procedures explicitly described in this documentation. Make sure that only
authorized service personnel perform other system services.
Keep the area around the chassis clear and free from dust before, during, and after installation.
Keep tools away from areas where people could trip over them while walking.
Wear safety glasses if you are working under any conditions that could be hazardous to your eyes.
Do not perform any actions that create a potential hazard to people or make the equipment unsafe.
Never install or manipulate wiring during electrical storms.
Never install electrical jacks in wet locations unless the jacks are specifically designed for wet
environments.
Operate the hardware equipment only when the chassis is properly grounded.
Do not open or remove chassis covers or sheet metal parts unless instructions are provided in this
documentation. Such an action could cause severe electrical shock.
Do not push or force any objects through any opening in the chassis frame. Such an action could
result in electrical shock or fire.
Avoid spilling liquid onto the chassis or onto any hardware component. Such an action could cause
electrical shock or damage the hardware equipment.
Do not use the device where inflammables or explosives are stored, for example, in a fuel station, oil
depot, or chemical plant. Otherwise, explosions or fires may occur.
Use only the accessories supplied or authorized by the device manufacturer. Otherwise, the
performance of the device may get affected, the warranty for the device or the laws and regulations
related to telecommunications terminals may become null and void, or an injury may occur.
Do not use the power adapter if its cable is damaged. Otherwise, electric shocks or fires may occur.
Do not use the antennas if the connectors, cables, or antennas are damaged. Otherwise, radio
frequency interference or electric shock may occur.
Installation Safety Guidelines and Warnings
Read the installation instructions before you connect the hardware equipment to a power source.
Operating Temperature Warning
To prevent the hardware equipment from overheating, do not operate it in an area that exceeds the
maximum recommended ambient temperature of 40°C. To prevent airflow restriction, allow at least 2 inches
of clearance around the device.
Do not expose to direct sunlight.

Do not place containers of liquids on the device or allow the device to come in contact with liquids.
Do not place near or on a source of heat.
Product Disposal Warning
Disposal of this product must be handled according to all national laws and regulations.
See Appendix C for details.
General Electrical Safety Warnings for EMS Hardware Equipment
Radio Frequency Interference
You can reduce or eliminate the emission of radio frequency interference (RFI) from your site wiring by using
twisted-pair network cabling with a good distribution of grounding conductors. If you must exceed the
recommended distances, use a high-quality twisted-pair cable with one ground conductor for each data
signal when applicable.
Electromagnetic Compatibility
If your site is susceptible to problems with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), particularly from lightning or
radio transmitters, you might want to seek expert advice. Strong sources of electromagnetic interference
(EMI) can destroy the signal drivers and receivers in the router and conduct power surges over the lines into
the equipment, resulting in an electrical hazard. It is particularly important to provide a properly grounded
and shielded environment and to use electrical surge-suppression devices.
AC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines
The i-MO 200-S Series appliance requires an AC supply of 100-240Volts, 50/60Hz and can draw a current of
up to 2 Amps.
i-MO routers are shipped with a three-wire electrical cord with a grounding-type plug that fits only a
grounding-type power outlet. Do not circumvent this safety feature. Equipment grounding should comply with
local and national electrical codes. The power cord serves as the main disconnecting device. The socket
outlet must be near the router and be easily accessible.

The i-MO appliance is supplied un-configured unless otherwise agreed with your supplier. Please confirm the
specification of the unit with your supplier as not all features are supported on every unit. This guide
describes how to connect and get started with the device. Electronic copies of this guide can be found by

1) How to open the appliance (optional)
Step 1 - Ensure the appliance is switched off and the power cable is removed.
Gently remove all aerials if connected.
Step 2 - Place the unit on a clean, soft surface that will not scratch the case. Gently undo the 4 screws at
the rear of the unit as shown below in images 1, 2and 3.
Step 3 - Gently slide the back panel towards you as shown in images 4and 5above. Continue to slide the
panel out of the case as shown in image 6above. Lay the printed circuit board flat with the modem board
facing upwards, as shown in image 7above.
2) How to install Modems (optional if not already fitted)
The two modem slots are outlined in red as shown in image 1below. The unit can be fitted with one or two
modems as required. For a single modem please use Modem A position and Modem Aerial connector A,
as shown in image 1 above.
Step 1 - Undo the top nuts only, of the Modem mounting bolts, using a 5mm spanner as shown in image 2
and 3below. Do not undo the bottom nuts.

Step 2 - The first modem must be placed in the Modem A position as shown in image 1above. Insert the
modem as shown image 4 above, then push down into place as shown in image 5 above. Add the nuts to
the mounting bolt and tighten gently as shown in images 6 above and 7 below. Repeat for the 2nd modem in
position Bif required as shown in image 8below.

Step 3 - Select the cable from Modem Aerial connector A as shown in image 9above. Gently undo the
black tape covering the connector.
Step 4 - Connect the end of Modem Aerial connector A cable to Modem A. The cable ends 'click' onto the
small fittings on the modems which are labeled 'MAIN' as shown above in images 10 and 11.
Step 5 - If required, select the cable from the Modem Aerial connector B as shown above in image 12. This
cable is routed under the modem board to keep it clear of the case when it is re-assembled. Please leave it
in this position. Gently undo the black tape covering the connector.
Step 6 - Connect the end of Modem Aerial connector B to Modem B. The cable ends 'click' onto the small
fittings on the modems which are labeled 'MAIN' as shown above in image 12.
3) How to install SIM cards (optional if not already fitted)
If SIM cards have been supplied to you with the i-MO unit, then they will already be installed. If you need to
insert or replace SIM cards then these need to be installed in the SIM card slots inside the appliance as
illustrated below.
Step 1 - SIM A belongs to Modem A and SIM B belongs to Modem B. Hold the SIM card with the cut off
corner located top left and contacts facing down, as shown below in images 1and 2.
Step 2 - Gently insert SIM card as shown in image 3 above. It will click into position when fully inserted - see
image 4above. To remove SIM card, push slightly against the spring and it will click and eject slightly.
Repeat for SIM card B if required - see image 6above.

4) How to close the appliance (optional)
Step 1 - Position the panel as shown in image 2 below, and carefully insert the panel into the slots of the
case as shown in images 3, 4and 5below. The panel should slide in easily. DO NOT FORCE!
Step 2 - Slide the panel into the case until it is fully inserted as shown in image 6 above. Gently (by hand)
insert the back panel screws in the holes and hand tighten. The case is made from aluminium so it is fragile.
Once the screws have been tightened by hand you should use a screwdriver just to tighten a bit more as
shown in image 7above. Do not over tighten!
5) How to attach the WiFi antenna
The i-MO appliance is supplied with a WiFi interface. This can be enabled on request at time of order. If the
WiFi interface is enabled install the WiFi antenna on the WiFi aerial connector next to the USB port as
shown below. Fold the aerial and turn it so the aerial is pointing upwards as shown below.
Note: Connectors should be touch tight only! Do not over tighten.
