2. Proper use _______________________________________________________________________
The IBS Parts Cleaning Device has been designed for cleaning of oily and greasy metal parts (e.g.
machine parts, motors and housings) using IBS Special Cleaning Agents.
2.1.
Approved cleaning agents
•IBS Special Cleaning Agent, Type EL/Extra
•IBS Special Cleaning Agent, Type RF
•IBS Special Cleaning Agent, Type Purgasol
•IBS Special Cleaning Agent, Type Securol
•IBS Special Cleaning Agent, Type 100 Plus
2.2.
Approved cleaning agents with technical ventilation (exhaust system)
•IBS Special Cleaning Agent, type Quick
NOTE When using solvents from third-party manufacturers, always read and follow the product
information and the EC Safety Data Sheet.
Their use must be approved by IBS Scherer GmbH. Please also note the information given
in section 2.3.
The 3-year extended warranty only applies when IBS Special Cleaning Agents are used.

2
2.3. Non-approved cleaning agents
•Halogenated solvents
•Flammable and highly flammable solvents with flash point < 55°C, except for cleaning
agents with flash point > 40°C when technical ventilation (exhaust system) is installed
2.4. Standards
Always comply with EN 12921-1 and EN 12921-3.
3. Operating principle_________________________________________________________
3.1.
How the machine works
The IBS pump pumps the cleaning liquid through a hose to the IBS cleaning brush. The
workpiece is placed on the support rack and is cleaned with the brush and cleaning liquid.
The dirty cleaning agent flows back into the drum. The dirt particles sink to the bottom of the
drum. When the cleaning effect of the cleaning agent declines, the drum must be replaced
with a new drum of IBS Special Cleaning Agent.
3.2.
Safety information
See section 6
4. Transport _________________________________________________________________________
4.1.
Handling
•Take great care when transporting the device to the installation site at the customer's
premises in order to prevent damage.
•Secure the device on the pallet to ensure that it does not slip off.
•When transporting the drum, read and follow the data sheet for the solvent.
4.2.
Transport aids
4.2.1. Transport using a crane
•Attach the crane cables to the pallet and lift the device carefully. Pay special attention to the
centre of gravity. The device may tip.
NOTE The crane must have a carrying capacity of at least 200 kg.
4.2.2. Transport using a fork-lift
•Insert the fork-lift between the longitudinal pieces on the wooden pallet.
•Lift the unit and transport it.

3
5. Setup / commissioning___________________________________________________
5.1.
Securing the device / stability
The device must be installed in a stable, horizontal position on a solvent-resistant floor.
5.2.
Space required
The device may be placed against a wall. There should be a clear area of approx. 1.5 m in front
of the device.
5.3.
Acceptable ambient conditions
The device will work optimally at temperatures between -15°C and +40°C.
5.4.
Preventing electrostatic charge
5.4.1. IBS pump
Any electrostatic charge in the pump is discharged via the protective earth conductor for the
pump motor.
5.4.1.1.
Parts Cleaning Device
The Parts Cleaning Device must be connected to an equipotential bonding system (which is
connected to the building's earth connection) at the point marked. This work should be carried
out by a qualified electrician.
5.4.1.2. Electrical connection by the customer
Installation at the customer's premises must be carried out by an approved electrician in
accordance with VDE requirements and any applicable power supply company
regulations.
The electrical supply line must be installed in accordance with the regulations and must comply
with the information (Technical data) given in the operating instructions.
5.5.
Additional equipment
5.5.1. IBS collecting tray (see 9. Accessories list)
This type-tested tray prevents solvents from seeping into the floor.
5.5.2. IBS exhaust system (see 9. Accessories list)
5.6.
Disposal
•The device is constructed primarily from steel (except the electrical components) and should
be disposed of in accordance with the applicable local environmental regulations.
•Contaminated parts (e.g. hoses, cleaning brushes, cleaning cloths, etc.) should be disposed
of in accordance with the applicable environmental regulations.
Please contact IBS Scherer GmbH if you have any questions.

4
•If you use solvents from other manufacturers, it is essential to read and follow the
information and safety instructions provided by the manufacturer.
5.7.
Precautionary measures to be taken by the operator
IBS Parts Cleaning Devices conform to type class A 1 (EN 12921-3; 3.15.1).
A danger area which is appropriate for the operating conditions (e.g. geometry and surface area
of workpieces, intensity of cleaning) must be defined. For normal cleaning processes, IBS
recommends a danger area of 1 m around the device.
The danger area identified by means of a risk assessment:
-Must be designated a fire hazard area
-Must remain free of obstructions in order to allow unimpeded access at all times
-Must be equipped with effective natural ventilation
-Smoking is not permitted in the danger area
-Naked flames or other sources of ignition are not permitted in the danger area
-Keep everything as clean as possible when working with solvents, oils and lubricants
-Operating and maintenance personnel must receive proper training
-The operating instructions and the standard operating procedure must be attached to
the device
Danger!

6. Operating the machine
6.1.
Controls
The device is switched on with a foot-operated safety switch.
6.2.
Assembly and adjustment
6.2.1. Assembling the Parts Cleaning Device
•We advise a two-man assembly to avoid damaging during the assembly of the Parts-
Cleaner-Type M/MD
•Remove the packaging
•Insert the two base frames (1) into the round pipe sleeves (2) (located directly underneath
the tray).
•Attach the two cross braces (3) to the base frames using the bolts supplied (4).

•Tilt the drum (5) slightly. Insert the pump (8) into the drum and screw the 2” threaded plug
(16)into the drum.
Ensure that the pump outflow (12) is facing to the left and the terminal box is facing towards
the rear.
•Insert the return hose (9) into the hole in the 2” threaded plug (16).
•Attach the top end of the return hose (9) to the outlet connector (10) on the tray and secure
it with the hose clip supplied.
•Attach the brush hose (11) to the pump outlet (12).
•Feed the brush hose (11) through the round hole in the rear wall of the tray (13) and insert
the cleaning brush (14).
•Place the foot-operated safety switch (7) in front of the device.
•Connect the device to the customer’s equipotential bonding system (see section 5.4.1.2).
Use the earth connection cables supplied to connect the Parts Cleaning device to the drum
and collecting tray.
•Insert the plug (15) into the 230 V socket.
