USB Type-C®notebook DockingStation
The USB Type-C®DockingStation from ICY BOX in elegant design and with Power
Delivery technology has been developed for connection to a computer (e.g. laptop,
notebook, etc.) with Type-C®interface and DisplayPort™Alt Mode support in order
to be able to connect additional monitors, USB peripherals and memory cards. A
special feature is the additional slot for installing an M.2 NVMe SSD on the bottom
of the DockingStation. The computer can also be supplied with power via a Power
Delivery Type-C®interface.

Requirements
• Host computer with a free USB Type-C®port (to ensure full dock functio-
nality, the host USB Type-C®port must support USB Power Delivery and
DisplayPort™Alt Mode or Thunderbolt™3).
• Any of the following operating systems: Windows®, macOS®
Note: The DockingStation can still connect to a host computer with a USB Type-C®
port that does not support Power Delivery (but must still support DisplayPort™Alt
Mode). In this configuration, the DockingStation will not provide power to your host
notebook.
USB Type-C®
Not all USB Type-C®ports support the full functionality of the USB Type-C®stan-
dard. Some ports might only provide data transfer, and might not support video or
Power Delivery over USB.
USB Type-C™≠USB Type-C™
Important!
This ICY BOX product requires the usage of DisplayPort™ Alt Mode
technology over the USB Type-C™ connector. Not all computers,
notebooks or tablets with a USB Type-C™ interface support the
DisplayPort™ Alt Mode.
Please check the specifications of your computer system as
well as its USB Type-C™ interface or use the ICY BOX product with a
Thunderbolt™ 3 connector.

To use this dock to its full potential, ensure that the host USB Type-C®port from
your computer supports DisplayPort™Alt Mode, as well as Power Delivery or
Thunderbolt™3.
Note! The additional USB Type-C®port on the DockingStation supports only Power
Delivery (no data transfer).
Installation and use of the DockingStation
1. Connect the USB Type-C®to Type-C®cable between supported host
computer and Type-C®host interface (2) of the DockingStation
2. Connect your devices to the appropriate interfaces on the dock
Maybe the dock will automatically install some of the required drivers once it is
connected to your notebook’s USB Type-C®port.
If you receive any prompt, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
3. Connect your external monitor to the DockingStation’s video port.
Note: Video output capabilities are dependent on the video card and hardware
specifications of your connected host notebook. Certain graphics cards have limited
support, while some monitors will also limit the output resolution.
Configure a display device
Please set your display settings according to your operating system and requirements.
For detailed information, consult the corresponding operation manual and descripti-
on of your operating system.

Note: In order to power and charge your connected notebook, its USB Type-C®
port must support USB Power Delivery or Thunderbolt™3.
Important:
1. When the IB-DK2108M-C is connected via the USB Type-C®interface of a
Chromebook™, a mouse connected via USB Type-A is not recognised immediately,
but the connection is established with a delay of a few seconds. This also happens
with other Type-C®adapters (including Apple original 3-in-1 adapter) when they
are connected to a Chromebook™.
2. Attention! When connecting or disconnecting a Power Delivery adapter via
the Type-C®interface of the IB-DK2108M-C, the other interfaces used may be
disconnected briefly and then immediately reconnected. To avoid data loss during
a data transfer, stream interruptions or the like, DO NOT connect or disconnect the
Power Delivery power supply while data transfers are in progress.

Installation of an M.2 NVMe SSD (optional)
M.2 NVMe SSD not included
1. Unscrew the two screws of the M.2 NVMe SSD cover at the bottom as shown
below and take off the cover.
2. Insert the M.2 NVMe SSD carefully with the connection side first into the M.2
socket at an angle of about 30° so it fits in smoothly.

3. Push the SSD down and fix the M.2 NVMe SSD with the delivered M.2 spacer
and screw as displayed.
4. Prepare the delivered thermal pad and remove the transparent protection foil at
one side.
5. Place the thermal pad (side without foil downwards) directly onto the M.2 NVMe
SSD and remove the second transparent protection foil now.

6. Reattach the cover and the two screws previously removed.
7. Ready to use!
8. Optionally, you can use the supplied protective rubber sleeve to protect the unit.
To do this, place the device in the sleeve according to the cut-outs for the connections.
Advice for an installed M.2 NVMe drive (optional)
M.2 NVMe SSD not inluded
The IB-DK2108M-C with installed M.2 NVMe drive inside can be connected to or
disconnected from the computer via USB cable without shutting down the computer.
A new drive must first be initialized, partitioned and formatted by the operating
system in order to be displayed by the system.
If the drive is not recognized instantly by the operating, system please check:
- if the driver software is installed (USB)
- if the SSD is initialized, partitioned and formatted
Please await the end of read/write operations before disconnecting the drive in
order to avoid data loss.
The full USB 3.1 (Gen 2) transfer rate can only be achieved with a USB 3.1
(Gen 2) host computer. Furthermore, the USB 3.1 (Gen 2) drivers must be installed
by the operating system. If this is not the case, install the appropriate drivers for your
operating system (Windows®, macOS®).

Nicht alle USB Type-C®Schnittstellen am Markt unterstützen den vollen Funkti-
onsumfang des USB Type-C®Standards. Einige Schnittstellen ermöglichen unter
Umständen lediglich Datenübertragung, aber eventuell keine Videoübertragung
oder Stromversorgung via USB.
Um das volle Potential der IB-DK2108M-C ausschöpfen zu können, vergewissern
Sie sich, dass Ihre Host USB Type-C®Schnittstelle den DisplayPort™Alt Mode und
USB Power Delivery oder Thunderbolt™3 unterstützt.
Hinweis! Die zusätzliche USB Type-C®Schnittstelle an der DockingStation unterstützt
lediglich Power Delivery und keine Datenübertragung.
Installation und Verwendung der DockingStation
1. Schließen Sie das USB Type-C®zu Type-C®Kabel zwischen Host-
computer und der USB Type-C®Schnittstelle zum Hostcomputer
(2) der DockingStation an.
2. Schließen Sie Ihre Perepheriegeräte an die entsprechenden
Schnittstellen an. Nach dem Anschließen der IB-DK2108M-C werden
benötigte Treiber automatisch installiert bzw. aktualisiert. Um die Installation
abzuschließen, folgen Sie den Anweisungen, falls während der automati-
schen Installation dazu aufgefordert werden sollte.

Wichtig!
Dieses ICY BOX Produkt verwendet den USB Type-C™ Anschluss und
nutzt die DisplayPort™ Alt Mode Technologie.
Nicht alle Computer, Notebooks oder Tablets mit USB Type-C™
Schnittstelle unterstützen auch den DisplayPort™ Alt Mode.
Bitte überprüfen Sie die Spezifikationen Ihres Computersystems
und dessen USB Type-C™ Schnittstelle oder nutzen Sie das ICY BOX
Produkt an einem Thunderbolt™ 3 Anschluss.

3. Schließen Sie Ihren externen Monitor an den Videoport der
DockingStation an.
Hinweis: Die Videoausgabemöglichkeiten hängen von der verwendeten Grafik-
karte und weiteren Hardwarespezifikationen des angeschlossenen Hostcomputers
ab. Bestimmte Grafikkarten verfügen nur über eingeschränkte Videounterstützung,
während auch einige Monitore nur geringere Auflösungen unterstützen.
Monitoreinrichtung
Zur optimalen Einstellung Ihrer Anzeigeeinheiten gehen Sie bitte entsprechend Ihres
Betriebssystems und Ihrer Bedürfnisse vor. Genauere Informationen entnehmen Sie
bitte dem Handbuch und den Beschreibungen Ihres Betriebssystems.
Unterstützte Videoauflösungen
Die IB-DK2108M-C unterstützt:
- Ultra HD Auflösung über HDMI®, wenn der angeschlossene HDMI®Monitor und
die Garfikeinheit diese Auflösung über den DP Alt Mode ebenfalls unterstützen.

Verwendung der Speicherkartenschächte
SD Karte
Schieben Sie die SD Karte mit der abgeschrägten Ecke voran in den SD-Karten-
schacht. Die goldenen Kontaktpunkte zeigen dabei nach unten (blaue LED oben).
microSD Karte
Schieben Sie die microSD Karte mit der abgeschrägten Ecke voran in den microSD
Kartenschacht. Die goldenen Kontaktpunkte zeigen dabei nach oben (blaue LED oben).
Multi-LUN Kartenleser - ermöglicht das gleichzeitige Verwenden von zwei Karten
Hinweis: Damit Ihr Notebook mit Strom versorgt und auch geladen wird, muss des-
sen USB Type-C®Schnittstelle USB Power Delivery oder Thunderbolt™3 unterstützen.
Wichtig:
1. Wird die IB-DK2108M-C über die USB Type-C®Schnittstelle eines Chro-
mebooks™angeschlossen, so wird eine per USB Type-A angeschlossene
Maus nicht sofort erkannt, sondern die Verbindung mit einigen Sekunden

2. Achtung! Beim Verbinden bzw. Entfernen eines Power Delivery Netzteils
über die Type-C®Schnittstelle der IB-DK2108M-C, werden die anderen
verwendeten Schnittstellen unter Umständen kurzzeitig getrennt und sofort
wieder verbunden. Um Datenverlust während einer Datenübertragung, Stre-
amunterbrechungen oder Ähnliches zu vermeiden, verbinden oder entfernen

gungen stattfinden.
Installation einer M.2 NVMe SSD (optional)
M.2 NVMe SSD nicht enthalten
1. Lösen Sie die beiden Schrauben der M.2 NVMe SSD Abdeckung an der Unter-
seite des Gerätes und entfernen Sie die Abdeckung.
2. Platzieren Sie die M.2 NVMe SSD vorsichtig mit der Anschlussseite voran und in
einem Winkel von ca. 30° in den M.2-Slot, so dass sie sich widerstandslos einfügt.

3. Drücken Sie die M.2 NVMe SSD dann vorsichtig nach unten und fixieren Sie
diese mittels des gelieferten Abstandshalters und der M.2 Befestigungsschraube.
4. Bereiten Sie das mitgelieferte Wärmeleitpad vor und entfernen Sie die
durchsichitige Schutzfolie auf einer Seite.
5. Legen Sie nun das Wärmeleitpad mit der Seite ohne Folie direkt auf die M.2
NVMe SSD auf und entfernen Sie die zweite durchsichitige Schutzfolie.

6. Setzen Sie die zuvor entfernte Abdeckung wieder auf und befestigen Sie diese
wieder mit den zuvor entnommenen Schrauben.
7. Einsatzbereit!
8. Optionally, you can use the supplied protective rubber sleeve to protect the unit.
To do this, place the device into the sleeve according to the cut-outs for the
connections.

Die IB-DK2108M-C mit der verbauten M.2 NVMe SSD kann im laufenden Betrieb
des Rechners an diesen via USB Kabel angeschlossen oder von diesem getrennt
werden.
Eine neue SSD muss vom Betriebssystem erst initialisiert, partitioniert und formatiert
werden, um vom System angezeigt zu werden.
Wenn die SSD nicht sofort vom System erkannt wird, prüfen Sie bitte:
- ob die Treibersoftware installiert ist (USB)
- ob die SSD initialisiert, partitioniert und formatiert ist.
Bitte das Ende von Schreib- und Lesevorgängen abwarten, bevor ein angeschlosse-
nes Gehäuse vom Rechner getrennt wird, um Datenverlust zu vermeiden.
Die volle USB 3.1 (Gen2) Transferrate kann nur mit einem kompatiblen USB 3.1
(Gen2) Hostcomputer erreicht werden. Des Weiteren müssen die USB 3.1 Treiber
seitens des Betriebssystems installiert sein. Sollte dies nicht der Fall sein, installieren
Sie die passenden Treiber für Ihr Betriebssystem (Windows®, macOS®).
