Conditions of use
The printer has been designed to create messages and images and print them on smooth,
absorbent and non-porous surfaces. The product or head must be in motion to print.
The most common scenario is for the printer to be installed on a conveyor belt so that the
products pass by the printer, but it can also be installed in a system where the printer itself is
moving.
The printer has been built for safe operation. The reliability, safety and efficiency of the printer
is only ensured if it is used in accordance with the conditions described in this manual.
The printer has been designed and manufactured only for the conditions described herein and
must only be used as such. Any use other than those described in this manual will be considered
unintended or improper use of the printer, something which could lead to undesirable and
dangerous situations.
Any handling of the inside components of the printer must be performed only by qualified
personnel familiar with the printer’s function and structure.
Any modification, adaptation or alteration of the printer or its accessories is not covered by
these terms and conditions, and any claims resulting from such alterations are not covered
herein and will be rejected as such.
ID Technology assumes no responsibility for any damage caused by misuse of the printer.
Improper use includes:
Misuse
Warning
The printer/ink comes in
contact with food.
The ink is considered toxic and
not suitable for consumption.
Operating the printer in an
explosive atmosphere.
Explosion.
Any electrical work must be performed by qualified electricians.
Any assembly, maintenance, or adjustment tasks must be performed by authorized personnel.

Warranty
Any work on the printer that modifies its mechanical or electrical components will invalidate the
warranty. Using spare parts not recommended by ID Technology may cause the printer to not
function properly.
Always use inks/consumables approved by ID Technology.
Safety & Compliance with Directives // Sécurité et conformité aux directives
This printer must be integrated into a production line to work correctly. The printer can
therefore not generally comply with all the requirements of machine safety regulations because
this depends on the conditions of the production line, how the products are transported, and
the printer's position or location. // Cette imprimante doit être intégrée dans une ligne de

Ink cartridge & printer head
The printer operates with HP TIJ cartridges that provide ½ inch (12.5 mm) print height.
These cartridges contain approximately 42 ml of ink and have a built-in Smartcard chip to enable
advanced printer features.
ID Technology offers several types of ink based on substrate and application requirements.
NOTE:
-Inks contain chemical components such as pigments and solvents.
-Ink cartridges should not be opened under any circumstances.
-Only authorized ink cartridges approved by ID Technology are suitable for use in the
equipment. See Appendix 3 "Ink cartridge supplies".
NOTE:
Using ink that is high in solvent content may lead to risk of exposure to
toxic components. Avoid using in enclosed spaces. Provide necessary
PPE if the operators will be handling ink.

ClearMark™ Installation, Operation & User Manual –Page 15
V 1.S.10 January 2021
V-1.S.1
Printhead Temperature
TIJ cartridges are recommended for optimal use in temperatures around 10-30°C (50-86°F).
High temperatures
At higher temperatures, the following effects may occur:
-Potential degradation of adhesion in some cases.
-Increased drop weight and dot size.
-Print cartridge overheating, causing air accumulation. This can damage the printhead
and cause a thermal shutdown. (Print fade requiring frequent cleaning of the nozzles).
If the printer needs to be used at very high temperatures, please actively cool the TIJ printer.
Low temperatures
At very low temperatures, the following effects can be produced:
-Precipitates of ink components can form in the ink. (Print fade requiring frequent
cleaning of the nozzles).
-Water based ink may potentially freeze causing potential printhead damage.
Please actively heat the printhead If the printer needs to be used at very low temperatures and
enable pulse warming.
Pulse warming
This function pulses the printhead’s resistors with a very narrow pulse to maintain a constant
print cartridge temperature and to improve print quality. Once enabled, the PCA board applies
this pulse automatically to maintain the Pulse Warming Temperature configured.
Do NOT enable pulse warming in these circumstances:
-During prolonged idle periods: it will dry out the printhead and plug the nozzles.
-While wiping the print head: it will cause air ingestion.
-When the printhead is subjected to mechanical shocks: it will cause air ingestion.
-When the printhead is capped: it will dry out the printhead and plug the nozzles.
See Cartridge Setup to know how to set up Pulse Warning.
NOTES:
-Pulse warming Temperature depends on the ink cartridge being used.
-The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused to cartridges due to
incorrect use of the Pulse Warming function.
