1. OVERVIEW
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting the standalone Huber 705 and 815
uid hoses to the ExploraVac instrument. It also includes instructions for lling and draining the
thermal uid, and the Huber systems initial startup procedure.
Huber Unistat refrigerated heating circulators provide heating and cooling of an ExploraVac platen.
Three models are available: Model 405 for temperatures between -40°C to +225°C, Model 705,
for temperatures from -60°C to +225°C, and Model 815, for temperatures from -65°C to +225°C.
All are delivered with a measured quantity of thermal uid.
The Huber system attaches to the ExploraVac platen via red insulated Swagelok® supply and
return lines. The 405 model is housed in the ExploraVac Standard or ExploraVac MAX stand. It
arrives completely plumbed and wired.
Huber 705 and 815 models are standalone and are positioned either behind or to the side of the
ExploraVac instrument. A minimum of 5 ft. of additonal space is needed behind or to the side of
the Exploravac for clearance (see Datasheets for footprint).
With 705 and 815 models, the communication cable, power cable, and uid circulating hoses are
attached at or through the back of the ExploraVac instrument. Fluid hoses are attached on the
ExploraVac side at the factory. Before use, hoses must be connected and insulated at the Huber
unit, and the unit must be lled with thermal uid.
The Unistat 705 is powered by the ExploraVac. The Unistat 815 requires 440-480 VAC and
requires a separate power feed.

SM-HUB7-09272023 - V 1.0.25
Do not power or run the ExploraVac or Huber system until the uid hoses are connected
and insulated and the Huber system is lled with thermal uid.
The Huber 405 system turns on when the AutoExplor POWER button is pressed.
Huber 705 and 815 models must be turned on separately.
To maximize longevity and minimize wear and tear on the Huber refrigerated heating circulator
system, follow these guidelines:
hUpon receiving power, the Huber system takes 50-60 seconds to initialize and run its internal
diagnostics. Wait for it to complete its startup cycle before turning on platen heating or cooling.
hIf the ExploraVac POWER button is pressed while the Huber is in its startup cycle, the ExploraVac
will wait (go into a standby mode) to power down until the Huber startup cycle is completed.
hIf the Huber system is in temperature control mode when the POWER button is pressed, the
Huber must rst stop circulating the thermal uid before it will allow the ExploraVac system to
power down. This takes approximately 30 seconds.
Things to do:
hAvoid running the Huber circulator for less than 5 minutes.
hAlways use the POWER button in AutoExplor to turn off the system.
h Pressing the emergency stop while thermal uid is circulating can damage the Huber.
hDO NOT USE THE EMERGENCY STOP UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY.
hOn dual platen systems, manual valves are installed in the thermal uid lines. These are provided
in case the user wants to heat or cool just one platen. When using only one platen, close the
valve on the non-selected platen uid outlet, and crack its uid inlet valve slightly. This allows
for thermal expansion of the uid but uid does not drain from the tubes or the second platen.
Closing both valves completely can cause high tube pressures.
Download and read the Huber Unistat Operation Manual to
completely familiarize yourself with the capabilities of your system:
