2 Safety instructions
• The unit described is a subcomponent for integration into a system.
– The system architect is responsible for the safety of the system.
– The system architect undertakes to perform a risk assessment and to create documentation in
accordance with legal and normative requirements to be provided to the operator and user of
the system. This documentation must contain all necessary information and safety instructions
for the operator, the user and, if applicable, for any service personnel authorised by the
architect of the system.

3 Intended use
The device may only be used for the following purposes:
• IO-Link master for configuration, management and operation of IO-Link devices
• As a gateway between an IO-Link device and the USB interface of a computer
The device is designed for use outside of a control cabinet.

4 Function
4.1 IO-Link
The device offers the following IO-Link functions:
• IO-Link master (IO-Link revision 1.0 and 1.1)
• 1 IO-Link port to connect IO-Link devices
4.1.1 IO-Link supply
The device provides a supply for 1 IO-Link device (sensors, actuators).
The IO-Link port is a port Class A.
4.2 Additional digital input / output
The IO-Link port offers either an additional digital input or digital output at pin 2. They refer to the
potential of the device supply at pin 3 (L-).
4.3 Visual indication
The device displays the following indications:
• Status of the voltage supply
• Status of the IO-Link port
• Status of the digital input / output
4.4 Parameter setting
The device offers the following configuration options:
• Parameter setting software
– ifm moneo OS + ifm moneo|configure
– ifm moneo|configure SA

5 Installation
5.1 Installing the device
The following applies to all types of mounting:
The responsibility for the compliance with the requirements concerning mounting of the device
in the application with regard to shock, vibration, acceleration and weight lies with the system
architect.
uMount the device on a suitable surface.
uWhen installing the device in a plant, use only suitable mounting accessories (e.g. cable ties).
uWhen using cable ties, use the recesses of the device as a guide (Ò figure). Min. width of the cable
ties: 2mm.
When attaching the cable ties, make sure that the status LEDs of the device are not covered.

6 Electrical connection
6.1 Overview

6.2 General wiring information
The device must be connected by a qualified electrician.
uObserve the national and international regulations for the installation of electrical equipment.
The device is only suitable for operation using SELV/PELV voltages.
uPlease note the information concerning IO-Link wiring!
This device contains components that may be damaged or destroyed by electrostatic discharge
(ESD).
uPlease observe the required precautions against electrostatic discharge!
6.2.1 Connection technology
The threaded connections in the device correspond to the M12 standard. To ensure compliance with
the specified protection rating, only cables that comply with this standard may be used. In the case of
self-assembled cables, the system manufacturer is responsible for the protection rating.
uUse connectors with gold-plated contacts.
uDuring installation, place the connectors vertically so that the coupling nut will not damage the
thread.
uBefore connecting the connector, check that there is an undamaged O-ring in the socket.
uObserve the coding of the connectors during installation.
uProvide cables with a strain relief depending on the mounting conditions to avoid excessive strain
on the installation points and the M12 connections.
uCover unused connections with protective covers. Tightening torque: max. 2.2Nm
6.3 IO-Link port (Class A)
IO-Link devices (sensors, actuators) are connected to the IO-Link port (class A).
The IO-Link port meets the requirements of the IO-Link specifications 1.0 to 1.1.2.
The port has short circuit detection (US).
The port has an additional digital input / output.

uConnect the IO-Link device to the IO-Link port. Max. cable length: 20m
uFor connection, use an M12 connector (minimum protection rating: IP 66 / IP 67).
uTighten the cable plug using 0.6...1.5Nm.
6.4 Voltage supply
The device and the connected IO-Link device are supplied via the USB connection. In addition, the
data is transferred to and from the PC/laptop via the USB interface.

uConnect the device to the USB interface of the PC/laptop via the USB port.
If the connected IO-Link device temporarily or permanently requires more than 150 mA ±10%, the
supply via the USB port is not sufficient. Additional supply voltage can be supplied via the AUX port.
When disconnected from the additional supply voltage, the device reboots.
uFor stable operation, always operate the device with an additional supply voltage at the AUX
port.
uEnsure correct wiring! Do not connect the additional supply voltage to the USB port.

8 Set-up
No special drivers are required to operate the IO-Link master under Microsoft Windows 10. When
connecting the device to the USB interface, the operating system will recognise it and automatically
install the necessary USB drivers.
uConnect the IO-Link master to a PC/laptop, Electrical connection (Ò/8).
uOptional: Connect the IO-Link master to an additional supply voltage.
wWhen connecting the IO-Link master to the USB port of the PC/laptop, it will start with factory
settings.
wThe indicators signal the current operating status, Operating and display elements (Ò/10).
uConnect the IO-Link device with the IO-Link master, Electrical connection (Ò/8).
wThe IO-Link master supplies the connected IO-Link device with the required operating voltage.
8.1 Installing the parameter setting software
A parameter setting software is required to configure the IO-Link master and the connected IO-Link
device.
Supported parameter setting software:
• ifm moneo OS (art. no. QMS001) + module licence ifm moneo|configure (art. no. QMP020)
• ifm moneo|configure SA (art. no. QMP010)
uFor correct installation: observe the installation instructions for ifm moneo.
Requirements:
üParameter setting software is available.
uStart the laptop / PC.
uInstall the parameter setting software on the laptop / PC.
uActivate the parameter setting software.
wParameter setting software is installed.

9 Parameter setting
9.1 Getting started
Requirements:
üThe parameter setting software is correctly installed on the laptop / PC.
üThe laptop / PC is connected to the USB interface of the device.
uStart the parameter setting software.
wThe user interface of the parameter setting software appears.
uClick on the [Configure devices] tile.
wView of [connected devices] appears.
uClick on [Network scan].
wA dialogue window appears.
uSelect the [USB port (IO-Link master E30390 and AL1060)] option.
uClick on [SCAN].
wParameter setting software searches for devices connected to the USB port.
wParameter setting software detects the connected IO-Link master.
uIn the [Actions] column: Click on .
wConnecting to device.
wThe connected IO-Link device is detected.

To configure the IO-Link master:

9.1.1 Online parameter setting
The device supports online parameter setting. The parameters of the IO-Link master and the
connected IO-Link devices can be set during operation.
Changing parameters during operation will influence the behaviour of the plant.
uEnsure that there will be no malfunctions in your plant.
During the parameter setting process, the IO-Link master and the connected IO-Link devices stay in
operating mode. They continue to perform their functions with the set parameters until the parameter
setting has been completed.
9.1.2 Offline parameter setting
The device supports offline parameter setting. The user creates a configuration for the IO-Link master
and the connected IO-Link devices without being connected to the device. The configuration created
can be stored as a file (*.lrp) and loaded to the device and activated at a later point.
9.2 IoT: setting the application-specific tag
The user can set an application-specific tag for the device to help identify the device.

9.3 Port 1: setting the operating mode of pin 4
Pin 4 of the port supports the following operating modes:
• Disabled: no data transmission to pin 4 (C/Q) of the port
• Digital input: binary input signal at pin 4 (C/Q) of the port
• Digital output: binary output signal at pin 4 (C/Q) of the port
• IO-Link: IO-Link data transmission via pin 4 (C/Q) of the port
The set operating mode must match the operating mode of the device connected to the port (sensor,
actuator, IO-Link device).

Device validation and backup / restore of parameter values are only available if the “IO-Link”
operating mode of the port has been activated.
For options [Type compatible V1.1 device with Backup + Restore] and [Type compatible V1.1
device with Restore]: If the parameters [Vendor ID] or [Device ID] are changed in online mode,
the data memory is deleted and the parameter values of the connected IO-Link device are
backed-up again in the IO-Link master.

10 Troubleshooting
Errors, warnings and status messages are indicated by the status LEDs: Operating and display
elements (Ò/10)
Additional status information is provided by the parameter setting software in online mode (Ò user
documentation of the parameter setting software).

11 Maintenance, repair and disposal
The operation of the unit is maintenance-free.
uDispose of the device in an environmentally friendly way in accordance with the applicable national
regulations when it is no longer used.
11.1 Cleaning the housing surface
Clean the surface of the device when necessary.
uDisconnect the device.
uClean the device from dirt using a soft, chemically untreated and dry cloth.
uIn case of severe soiling, use a cloth moistened with water.
uDo not use any caustic cleaning agents for this!
11.2 Updating the firmware
The firmware of the device can be updated using the following methods:
• ifm moneo|configure: Update firmware (Ò/17)
