20. Keep all electrical appliances such as radios,
telephones, televisions and lights at least
ive eet (1.5 m) away rom the water.
21. DANGER—Risk o electric shock: Do not set
up the hydrotherapy spa within ive eet (1.5
m) o any metal objects or sur aces. As an
alternative, you may use the spa within ive
eet (1.5 m) o metal objects i each metal
object is permanently connected to the bond-
ing LVG on the controller o this unit by a
minimum No. 6 AWG (1.3 mm2) solid copper
conductor. At least two lugs marked “BOND-
ING LUGS” are provided on the external sur-
ace or on the inside o the supply terminal
box or compartment. To reduce the risk o
electric shock, connect the local common
bonding grid in the area o the hot tub or spa
to these terminals with an insulated or bare
copper conductor not smaller than 6 AWG.
All ield-installed metal components such as
rails, ladders, drains, or other similar hard-
ware within 3 m o the spa or hot tub shall be
bonded to the equipment grounding bus with
copper conductors not smaller than 6 AWG.
22 Do not operate the pump motor when the spa
is empty. The pump motor may be seriously
damaged i it is operated without water circu-
lating. The cut-o valves must always be open
when using the spa (see step 2 on page 8).
23. DANGER—Risk o drowning: Exercise
extreme caution to prevent unauthorized and
unsupervised use o the hydrotherapy spa by
children. Children must always be super-
vised.
24. DANGER—To reduce the risk o drowning:
• Never use the hydrotherapy spa alone;
• Children should not use the spa unless
they are supervised by an adult;
• Keep pets away rom the spa at all times;
• Always replace and lock the spa cover
when the spa is not in use.
25. WARNING—To reduce the risk o injury: The
water temperature should never exceed
104°F (40°C). Water temperature in excess o
100°F (38°C) may be injurious to your health.
I you plan to remain in the hydrotherapy spa
or more than 10 to 15 minutes, lower the
temperature to 100°F (38°C) or below. Lower
temperatures are also recommended or chil-
dren. Children should not be allowed to swim
under the sur ace o the water in the spa.
26. WARNING—To reduce the risk o injury:
Always use an accurate thermometer to
determine the water temperature be ore
using the hydrotherapy spa.
27 WARNING—To reduce the risk o injury:
Pregnant women should consult with their
physician be ore using the hydrotherapy spa.
Pregnant women should not use the spa i
the water temperature is above 100°F (38°C);
the unborn child could be seriously harmed.
This is especially important during the irst
90 days o the pregnancy.
28. DANGER—To reduce the risk o drowning:
Prolonged immersion in the hydrotherapy
spa may cause hyperthermia, a dangerous
condition that occurs when the internal body
temperature rises several degrees above the
normal body temperature o 98.6°F (37°C).
The symptoms o hyperthermia include nau-
sea, dizziness, drowsiness, and ainting.
E ects include: a lack o awareness, inability
to perceive heat or danger, and a greater risk
o drowning due to a loss o consciousness.
Special note: Individuals suffering from
hyperthermia may be unable to realize that
they must exit the hydrotherapy spa, and
they also may be physically unable to do so.
29. WARNING—To reduce the risk o drowning:
Do not use the hydrotherapy spa i you are
under the in luence o alcohol or drugs. Heat
rom the water, in conjunction with alcohol or
drugs can cause loss o consciousness.
30. WARNING—To reduce the risk o injury or
drowning: Consult your physician about pos-
sible side-e ects o any medications you
may be taking be ore using the hydrotherapy
spa. Heat rom the water, in conjunction with
some medications, may cause drowsiness
and increase the risk o drowning. Others
can e ect blood pressure, heart rate, and cir-
culation.
31. Do not use the hydrotherapy spa immediate-
ly a ter strenuous exercise.
32. To avoid injury, exercise care when entering
or exiting the spa.
33. WARNING—To reduce the risk o injury: It is
especially important or persons over the age
o 35 or persons with pre-existing health
problems, such as obesity, heart disease,
high or low blood pressure, circulatory prob-
