How the INOVA-E8 works
5

Air is drawn into the system through the vents on the sides
into the filter compartment at the bottom of the unit.
Air then passes through the dust pre-filter and on to the
H13 medical-grade HEPA filter which removes allergens,
viruses, bacteria and other sub-micron fine particle matter.
Chemicals and odours are also removed from the air by
optional final stage activated carbon filter (if installed).
The high-efficiency centrifugal fan pulls the filtered air up
into the top of the system.
The purified air is then returned to the room via the high
air-flow diffuser.
6
4 simple steps to cleaner air

Positioning your INOVA-E8 system
There are two main points to consider: where you spend your time and where the
main pollutants are.
The longer you keep your INOVA-E8 in a single room, the cleaner the air in that
room will be. As with a heater or air conditioner, the INOVA purifier will only be
effective if windows are closed during operation.
Your INOVA-E8 works best when it has plenty of unrestricted airflow around it.
It is also important to make sure the air purifier has easy access to a power outlet as
long cords can be a tripping hazard and may result in damage to the unit should it
be knocked over.
7

System operation
4-SPEED CONTROLLER
POWER CORD SOCKET
The system has 4 speed settings and uses an energy efficient European AC fan.
Power consumption is relative to the selected speed.
Control position
The higher the speed, the more times per hour the air in your living space will be
cleaned, so it is recommended to run the system at the highest speed you are com-
fortable with.
Higher fan speeds will generate higher sound levels.
Generally for sleeping, an ideal setting is position 1.
1 2 3 4
Low Med High Max Speed level
Please note, there can be a delay
of up to 20 seconds before the fan
is running at the speed you have
selected.

Tips for getting the most out of your system
Always operate the system with windows closed
Air purifiers are not designed to filter the great outdoors, like an air conditioner or heater
leaving a window open will render the system ineffective. Use of evaporative coolers will also
reduce effectiveness.
Operate the system 24/7
As dust, allergens, and chemicals are always present in the air, for maximum effectiveness
you should operate the system continuously. By switching the system off you are only allowing
these contaminants to build up in the interim until it is switched back on. INOVA systems are
designed for optimal energy efficiency – so don’t be concerned about power consumption
as this will barely be noticeable on an electricity bill.
Decide where you need clean air the most
Typically for allergy and asthma sufferers, use while sleeping will be an important part of how
you use your air purifier. If you have a high capacity system with adequate coverage, it can
be moved between living areas during the day and the bedroom at night. Operation for 15-
30mins on high speed will dramatically reduce the bulk of airborne particulates when moving
into a new room.
Enclose the area where you are operating the system
If you close a bedroom door the system will be much more effective as it will only be filtering
air in the one room. If you move to larger areas, if possible, close off surrounding areas to
maintain clean air in that space. INOVA-E8 models are designed primarily for bedroom use,
while the higher capacity INOVA-E20 and DE20 systems are designed to cover large living
areas and be moved to bedrooms for night-time use.
Operate at the highest speed you are comfortable with
All INOVA systems include variable speed controls and the speed should be varied
depending on the room size, the level of air pollutants present, and the sensitivity of the
individual. The higher the operating speed the more effective the system will be, as the purifier
will be filtering the air more times every hour resulting in lower levels of particles and certain
chemicals. When operating smaller systems in larger areas, increase the operating speed to
enable the system to filter the air more effectively.

Check your pre-filters regularly for dust build-up
We recommend that you check your pre-filter after every three months of operation to visually
inspect the level of dust buildup. Pre-filters typically last between 3 to 6 months based on
average dust levels in a home environment. If the levels of dust in your home are high due to
external factors such as living near a main road, you may need to change your filters more
regularly. Change of filter colour alone from white to grey does not indicate the filter needs
changing, rather a 1-2mm dust layer does. Do not vacuum or wash pre-filters, they are made
from very high efficiency material which is not designed for vacuuming or washing. These
actions will damage the pre-filter and reduce the life of the HEPA filter by allowing dirt to pass
through.
Know when to change your main filters
The HEPA filter will require replacement when the outside, the side immediately visible
underneath the pre-filter, changes colour from white to dark grey – this typically takes some
years to occur as long as you have maintained and changed your pre-filter on a regular
basis. Activated carbon filters, when saturated with chemicals or odours, will leave the air
tainted with an odour. If the air coming out of your purifier develops any sort of noticeable
odour, the carbon filter may require replacement.
Do not attempt to vacuum or wash the HEPA or Pre-filter as this will damage the fine filter
fibers and reduce efficiency. Air intake vents on the sides of the system can be vacuumed
including the base plate which sits under the filters.
When changing pre-filters
It is best to remove the HEPA filter with the pre-filter intact and take outside so no dust is
released in your environment when changing. If not practical to do so you can simply place
a large garbage bag over the entire HEPA filter/pre-filter and remove the pre-filter inside the
bag.
Optional activated carbon filter
While they are highly efficient at removing chemicals and odours, if you have high levels of
any chemicals or odours they will absorb these from the air quickly and the filter life will be
reduced. If you want to prolong the life of the optional activated carbon filter, you should turn
the system off while cooking or if there are any heavy transient odours.
10

Accessing the filters
1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Ensure system is sitting on a flat and even surface.
3. Pull top of the latches (A) away from the main unit.
4. Push the latches back towards the main unit (B)
5. Ensure the latch clasps are clear of catches on the base (C).
6. Lift casing clear of base to access filters.

When to replace the filters
The Technostat®pre-filter is is made from a
patented material used in respirators and face
masks. It is the initial stage that the air is passed
through and is designed to filter large dust
particles right down to ultra fine sub-micron
particles.
Dust levels in the ambient air will affect how
long the pre-filter will last. Pre-filters are white in
colour and will turn grey fairly quickly within 1-2
weeks of use, this is nothing to be concerned
about and simply means the filter is doing its job.
We recommend checking the dust buildup on
the pre-filter every 3 months of use.
When the dust layer is approximately 2 mm thick
the pre-filter should be replaced. Prefilters will
typically last 3-6 months before needing to be
replaced.

each of which may lower any of the filter lifespans. INOVA does not warranty consumable filter life.
Stage 1: Technostat®Pre-filter

Stage 2: H13 Medical-Grade HEPA Filter
HEPA filters known as High-Efficiency
Particulate Arrestance filters were originally
developed to filter fine radioactive particles.
A HEPA filter will filter with a minimum
efficiency 99.95% of particles at 0.3
microns and 95% of particles at 0.1 microns.
With 1 micron measuring just 1/10,000
of a centimetre and the smallest particle
visible to the naked eye being 40 microns.
0.3 microns is many times smaller than dust
mites, mould spores, pet allergens and
pollens.
HEPA filters are widely used in medical
applications including: cleanrooms,
pharmaceutical manufacturing and
any environment where clean or sterile
conditions are required.
The HEPA filter is designed to last 3 to 5
years under normal use. As with other
filters, the environment in which it is used will
determine the filter life.
The outside of the HEPA filter will change
colour and turn dark grey when it needs
changing.
Generally for the first two years of use the
filter will remain white and then gradually
get darker in the final months of its life.
Please note, the inside of the HEPA filter will
always remain white so it is important to
check the outside of the filter which is visible
when the pre-filter is being changed.

Activated carbon traps gas molecules and
any other chemicals that pass through it.
Activated carbon has an immense surface
area that allows an incredible amount of
molecules to be adhered to the carbon. This
means an air purifier with a larger activated
carbon filter will be more efficient and will
last longer before needing replacement.
Based on weight, INOVA includes more
activated carbon in our filters than any other
air purifier in Australia.
Our INOVA-E8 system can be configured
with a 2.4kg activated carbon filter.
This optional activated carbon filter adsorbs
chemicals, gases and odours from the air
and, depending on the environment, will last
up to 3 years.
Carbon filters should be changed when
they are saturated, this means the filter has
entirely filled up with what it has filtered
from the air during use. You can tell when
a carbon filter needs changing because
the air coming out of the system will either
be tainted with an odour of what it has
adsorbed during use, or the air will simply
stop smelling clean or smell stale.
Please note: If you have not ordered this
filter with your INOVA-E8 system, it can
be added as required and ordered from
the INOVA website.
Stage 3: Activated Carbon Filter (optional)
• Chemical Pollutants
• Odours
• Volatile Organic Compounds
(VOC’s)
• Smoke
• Road pollution
More information on what chemicals
and volatile organic compounds can
be removed by the activated carbon
filter can be found on the INOVA
website.

Replacing Filters
When replacing the HEPA
filter, ensure the filter is
positioned within locator
tabs and the bottom of the
filter is sitting flat on the
system base.
The optional 2.4kg activated
carbon filter fits to the inside
of the HEPA filter and should
sit flat on the system base.
The pre-filter is wrapped around the HEPA filter &
fastened with Velcro.
Gently unwrap from the filter & replace with a new pre-filter.
Ensure pre-filter is installed so the ‘fluffy’ velcro strip is facing
outwards and is firmly fitted around the HEPA filter to avoid air
bypassing the pre-filter.
