Innovation
95% of homes with central heating and/or air conditioning share a common problem. Some rooms
get too hot when the heat comes on or too cold when the air conditioning comes on.
An average home in North America has 9-12 rooms with typically 2-4 rooms being over heated or
over cooled.
Comfort
Installing an Activent in each of these rooms helps eliminate this problem. The homeowner simply
replaces an existing air register with an Activent unit complete with its own electronic louver
system. This louver system is controlled by a temperature controller (RTC) that is mounted on the
wall or simply placed in the room. The homeowner sets the desired temperature for the room and
the RTC will open or close the louver system in the Activent unit to maintain the desired tempera-
ture.
Energy Savings
In addition to maintaining the desired temperature in Activent controlled rooms, the Activent
redistributes the hot or cold air to other rooms. This allows the rest of the home to reach its set
temperature in a more efficient manner, therefore helping reduce utility bills by up to 5% per
Activent equipped room (I.E. two rooms up to 10%, etc.).
Number of Vents Per Home
We recommend installing an Activent unit only in rooms that are too warm during the heating cycle
and/or too cold in the cooling cycle. However, we do not recommend installing Activent systems in
more than 1/3 of the air registers.*
*Activent can be used in multi-zoned HVAC systems. In such installations you may install Activent in
up to 1/3 of the air registers within each zone.
Installation: Step 1 – Unpack
The Activent package contains 3 items; (1) The Activent louver system, (2) Activent louver cover and
(3) a Remote Temperature Control (RTC).

Installation: Step2 – Matching the Activent and RTC combination codes
Locate the combination code switch on the Activent louver system (fig. 1) and the RTC (fig. 2). The
combination code is set by aligning a series of 5 micro switches. Slide the micro switches with the tip
of a ball point pen to match that of the RTC.**
**IMPORTANT! If you are installing more than one Activent in different rooms you must make sure
the combination code is set differently for each room. If you are installing 2 (or more) Activents in
the same room you must make sure all the combination codes are set the same for the RTC in that
room (one RTC per room).
Installation: Step 3 – Insert Alkaline Ba!eries into Activent
Activent – First remove the grill cover from the Activent louver system. Next slide the ba!ery case
latch to the open position while pulling gently on the warning label. The ba!ery case should come
out easily (fig. 3). Open the ba!ery case. (fig. 4)
Install 4 AA alkaline ba!eries (fig. 5) making sure the ba!eries are oriented in the right direction and
push the ba!ery case back into the Activent until it latches.
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Installation: Step 4 – Placing the Activent Unit into the Air Inlet
Remove old grill and register from the air inlet.
Place the Activent unit into the air inlet and secure with provided screws. Once the Activent unit is
secured place the Activent grill cover over the unit. The grill cover has four strong magnets which
a!ach to the metal mounting plate of the Activent unit.
Installation: Step 5 – Installing the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Select a location (preferably across the room from the Activent unit) to mount the RTC. Mount the
RTC at approximately shoulder height using the 2 screws provided with your RTC (a wall template is
included at the end of this instruction sheet).
The RTC may also be placed on a dresser or night stand (remember to keep the RTC away from the
air flow of the Activent so proper operation will occur).
Installation: Step 6 – Se!ing up the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Open the front cover of the RTC and insert 4 alkaline ba!eries making sure the ba!eries are
oriented in the right direction. (fig. 6)
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Set the heating/cooling slider to the desired position. If the central HVAC is on heat set the RTC
slider to the heating mode (red). If the central HVAC is on air conditioning set the RTC slider to the
cooling mode (blue). This se!ing is important because the RTC is designed to respond to tempera-
ture increases during heating cycles and to temperature decreases during cooling cycles.
Auto Mode
When the Mode switch (fig. 7) is in the “Auto” position, the opening and closing of the Activent
louvers is controlled by the RTC.
Manual Mode
The Activent may be opened or closed manually.
To open the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Open” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain open.
To close the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Close” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain closed.
Installation: Final Step – Se!ing the Room Temperature with the RTC
Make sure that the RTC is in the “Auto” position. Set the RTC slide to the desired temperature for
the room. When the room reaches the set temperature the Activent louver system will close
automatically. The Activent will open automatically once the temperature in the room changes back
by more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Time to Change Ba!eries
Ba!eries for the Activent and the RTC should last for approximately one year. We recommend that
you change the ba!eries once a year to insure optimal operation. In the event that the ba!eries run
low, the RTC will emit a low ba!ery warning light. A yellow flashing light on the front of RTC
indicates it is time to change ba!eries in the RTC. A red flashing light indicates it is time to change
the ba!eries in the Activent louver system. Once fresh ba!eries are installed the light will
extinguish a$er approximately 5 minutes.

and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Inova Products shall not be liable for

Cuando la calefacción o aire acondicionado se prende, algunos cuartos se calientan o enfrían
demasiado al recibir el aire caliente o frío.
Podemos decir que un promedio de las casas en Norte América tienen 9 a 12 habitaciones y
típicamente 2 a 4 de ellas están muy calientes o muy frías.
Comodidad
Instalando un “ACTIVENT” en cada una de estas habitaciones UD. elimina este problema. El dueño
de la casa simplemente reemplaza un registrador existente con una unidad “ACTIVENT” que tiene
un sistema electrónico con persianas de cierre automático. Este sistema está gobernado por un
registrador de temperatura (RTC) montada en la pared o simplemente puesto en el cuarto. El dueño
establece la temperatura del cuarto y el (RTC) abre o cierra las persianas del “ACTIVENT” para
mantener la temperatura deseada.
Ahorro de Energía
“ACTIVENT” no solamente retiene la temperatura deseada pero reparte el aire caliente o frío a
otras habitaciones. Efectivamente, esto permite que el resto de la casa alcance rápidamente su
temperatura reduciendo las cuentas de servicios públicos hasta 5% por cada “ACTIVENT”. (2
habitaciones hasta 10%, etc.)
Número de Registradores por Casa
Solamente recomendamos instalar “ACTIVENT” en las habitaciones que estén muy calientes o muy
frías durante el período del ciclo de calentamiento o enfriamiento No obstante no recomendamos
el sistema “ACTIVENT” para màs de 1/3 de las registradoras en la casa.
“ACTIVENT” puede ser usado en sistemas de zonas múltiples con sistemas HVAC. En ese caso, uno
puede instalar “ACTIVENT” hasta 1/3 de los registradores que se encuentren en cada zona.
Instalación: Primer paso – Desempaquetar
El embalaje de “ACTIVENT” contiene 3 artículos: (1) El sistema de persianas, (2) El cubre de las
persianas, y (3) el control remoto de temperatura (RTC).

Instalación- Segundo paso – Emparejamiento de los códigos del “ACTIVENT” y el Control
Remoto de Temperatura
Localize la combinación de código en la registradora del “ACTIVENT”(fig. 1) y en el control Remoto.
(fig. 2) El código se pone cuando una serie de cinco micro combinaciones se alinean. Emplee una
estilográfica para correr las micro combinaciones del código y así haga coincidir las mismas con el
código del Control Remoto.**
**IMPORTANTE! Si usted está instalando varios “ACTIVENT” en su casa, tiene que estar seguro que
cada código sea diferente en cada habitación. Si usted está instalando más de 2 “ACTIVENT” por
cuarto, tiene que asegurarse que los códigos de las registradoras del “ACTIVENT” estén de acuerdo
con el único Control Remoto de Temperatura en el cuarto.
Instalación: Tercer paso - Inserte las Baterías “Alkaline” al sistema de “ACTIVENT”.
Primero saque el cubre de la registradora del “ACTIVENT”. Suavemente tire para atrás el estuche
de la bateria mientras que mueve la cerradura de la batería a la posición “open”. La batería saldrá
fácilment (fig. 3). Abra el estuche de la batería. (fig. 4)
Instale 4 AA baterías “Alkaline” (fig. 5) Tenga cuidado que estén orientadas correctamente y retorne
el estuche al “ACTIVENT” hasta que se enganche.
IMPORTANTE! Recomendamos baterías “Alkaline” para asegurarse de obtener un buen
rendimiento. Las baterías tendrían que durar aproximadamente un año
Instalación: Cuarto paso – Colocar el “ACTIVENT” en la entrada del aire
Quite la vieja registradora de la entrada de aire.
Asegure en la abertura el nuevo “ACTIVENT” con los tornillos provistos. Cuando el “ACTIVENT”
esté colocado, ponga el cubre del “ACTIVENT”. El cubre tiene cuatro enganches magnéticos para
sostenerse al “ACTIVENT”.
Instalación: Quinto paso – Instalación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC)
Escoja una locación (preferible al otro lado del “ACTIVENT”) para colocar el RTC. Aproximada-
mente coloque el RTC a la altura de su hombro usando los tornillos provistos. (Una plantilla para la
pared está incluida al final de estas instrucciones).
Si quisiera, el RTC puede estar en una mesa de luz pero tenga cuidado que esté lejos de la salida
del aire del “ACTIVENT” para no interrumpir las operaciones del RTC.
Instalación: Sexto paso – Estableciendo la Operación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC).
Abra el frente del RTC y coloque 4 baterías “alkaline” teniendo cuidado que estén orientadas
correctamente. (fig. 6)
IMPORTANTE! Recomendamos baterías “alkaline” para asegurarse de obtener un buen rendimiento.
Las baterías tendrían que durar aproximadamente un año.
Sitúe la vara del calor o frío a la posición deseable. Si la HVAC central está puesta para calor,
coloque la RTC vara para el modo del calor (rojo). Si la central HVAC está para el aire acondicio-
nado, coloque la vara del RTC para el modo de frío (azul). Esto es importante porque el RTC
responde a aumentos de temperaturas durante los ciclos de calor y a disminuciones de temperatura
durante ciclos de frío.
Modo Automático
Cuando la vara de modo está en la posición “Auto”, el abrimiento y cierre del Registrador “ACTI-
VENT” está controlado por el RTC.
Modo Manual
El “ACTIVENT” puede ser abierto y cerrado manualmente.
Para abrir las persianas del “ACTIVENT”, cambie la vara del modo a la posición abierta – “open”. El
“ACTIVENT” se mantiene abierto.
Para cerrar las persianas del “ACTIVENT”, cambie la vara del modo a la posición cerrado – “closed”.
EL “ACTIVENT” se mantiene cerrado.
Instalación: Paso Final – Estableciendo La temperatura con el RTC
Asegure que el RTC esté en la posición “Auto”. Ponga la vara del RTC a la temperatura deseable
para la habitación. Cuando el cuarto llegue a la temperatura registrada en el RTC, el “ACTIVENT” se
cierra automáticamente. El “ACTIVENT” se abrirá cuando la temperatura cambia más de dos grados
Fahrenheit.
Tiempo para cambiar la Batería
Las baterías para el “ACTIVENT” y el RTC deberían durar hasta un año. Recomendamos que usted
las cambie cada año. En el caso que las baterías estén pasadas, el RTC emitiría una luz de alerta
indicando que la batería está baja. Una luz amarilla centelleante al frente del RTC indica que es
tiempo de cambiar las baterías del RTC. Una luz roja centelleante indica que es tiempo de cambiar
las baterías del “ACTIVENT”. Una vez que las nuevas baterías han sido instaladas la luz se apagará
después de aproximadamente 5 minutos

Innovation
95% of homes with central heating and/or air conditioning share a common problem. Some rooms
get too hot when the heat comes on or too cold when the air conditioning comes on.
An average home in North America has 9-12 rooms with typically 2-4 rooms being over heated or
over cooled.
Comfort
Installing an Activent in each of these rooms helps eliminate this problem. The homeowner simply
replaces an existing air register with an Activent unit complete with its own electronic louver
system. This louver system is controlled by a temperature controller (RTC) that is mounted on the
wall or simply placed in the room. The homeowner sets the desired temperature for the room and
the RTC will open or close the louver system in the Activent unit to maintain the desired tempera-
ture.
Energy Savings
In addition to maintaining the desired temperature in Activent controlled rooms, the Activent
redistributes the hot or cold air to other rooms. This allows the rest of the home to reach its set
temperature in a more efficient manner, therefore helping reduce utility bills by up to 5% per
Activent equipped room (I.E. two rooms up to 10%, etc.).
Number of Vents Per Home
We recommend installing an Activent unit only in rooms that are too warm during the heating cycle
and/or too cold in the cooling cycle. However, we do not recommend installing Activent systems in
more than 1/3 of the air registers.*
*Activent can be used in multi-zoned HVAC systems. In such installations you may install Activent in
up to 1/3 of the air registers within each zone.
Installation: Step 1 – Unpack
The Activent package contains 3 items; (1) The Activent louver system, (2) Activent louver cover and
(3) a Remote Temperature Control (RTC).

Installation: Step2 – Matching the Activent and RTC combination codes
Locate the combination code switch on the Activent louver system (fig. 1) and the RTC (fig. 2). The
combination code is set by aligning a series of 5 micro switches. Slide the micro switches with the tip
of a ball point pen to match that of the RTC.**
**IMPORTANT! If you are installing more than one Activent in different rooms you must make sure
the combination code is set differently for each room. If you are installing 2 (or more) Activents in
the same room you must make sure all the combination codes are set the same for the RTC in that
room (one RTC per room).
Installation: Step 3 – Insert Alkaline Ba!eries into Activent
Activent – First remove the grill cover from the Activent louver system. Next slide the ba!ery case
latch to the open position while pulling gently on the warning label. The ba!ery case should come
out easily (fig. 3). Open the ba!ery case. (fig. 4)
Install 4 AA alkaline ba!eries (fig. 5) making sure the ba!eries are oriented in the right direction and
push the ba!ery case back into the Activent until it latches.
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Installation: Step 4 – Placing the Activent Unit into the Air Inlet
Remove old grill and register from the air inlet.
Place the Activent unit into the air inlet and secure with provided screws. Once the Activent unit is
secured place the Activent grill cover over the unit. The grill cover has four strong magnets which
a!ach to the metal mounting plate of the Activent unit.
Installation: Step 5 – Installing the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Select a location (preferably across the room from the Activent unit) to mount the RTC. Mount the
RTC at approximately shoulder height using the 2 screws provided with your RTC (a wall template is
included at the end of this instruction sheet).
The RTC may also be placed on a dresser or night stand (remember to keep the RTC away from the
air flow of the Activent so proper operation will occur).
Installation: Step 6 – Se!ing up the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Open the front cover of the RTC and insert 4 alkaline ba!eries making sure the ba!eries are
oriented in the right direction. (fig. 6)
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Set the heating/cooling slider to the desired position. If the central HVAC is on heat set the RTC
slider to the heating mode (red). If the central HVAC is on air conditioning set the RTC slider to the
cooling mode (blue). This se!ing is important because the RTC is designed to respond to tempera-
ture increases during heating cycles and to temperature decreases during cooling cycles.
Auto Mode
When the Mode switch (fig. 7) is in the “Auto” position, the opening and closing of the Activent
louvers is controlled by the RTC.
Manual Mode
The Activent may be opened or closed manually.
To open the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Open” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain open.
To close the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Close” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain closed.
Installation: Final Step – Se!ing the Room Temperature with the RTC
Make sure that the RTC is in the “Auto” position. Set the RTC slide to the desired temperature for
the room. When the room reaches the set temperature the Activent louver system will close
automatically. The Activent will open automatically once the temperature in the room changes back
by more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Time to Change Ba!eries
Ba!eries for the Activent and the RTC should last for approximately one year. We recommend that
you change the ba!eries once a year to insure optimal operation. In the event that the ba!eries run
low, the RTC will emit a low ba!ery warning light. A yellow flashing light on the front of RTC
indicates it is time to change ba!eries in the RTC. A red flashing light indicates it is time to change
the ba!eries in the Activent louver system. Once fresh ba!eries are installed the light will
extinguish a$er approximately 5 minutes.

Comodidad
Instalando un “ACTIVENT” en cada una de estas habitaciones UD. elimina este problema. El dueño
de la casa simplemente reemplaza un registrador existente con una unidad “ACTIVENT” que tiene
un sistema electrónico con persianas de cierre automático. Este sistema está gobernado por un
registrador de temperatura (RTC) montada en la pared o simplemente puesto en el cuarto. El dueño
establece la temperatura del cuarto y el (RTC) abre o cierra las persianas del “ACTIVENT” para
mantener la temperatura deseada.
Ahorro de Energía
“ACTIVENT” no solamente retiene la temperatura deseada pero reparte el aire caliente o frío a

Cuando la calefacción o aire acondicionado se prende, algunos cuartos se calientan o enfrían
demasiado al recibir el aire caliente o frío.
Podemos decir que un promedio de las casas en Norte América tienen 9 a 12 habitaciones y
típicamente 2 a 4 de ellas están muy calientes o muy frías.
Comodidad
Instalando un “ACTIVENT” en cada una de estas habitaciones UD. elimina este problema. El dueño
de la casa simplemente reemplaza un registrador existente con una unidad “ACTIVENT” que tiene
un sistema electrónico con persianas de cierre automático. Este sistema está gobernado por un
registrador de temperatura (RTC) montada en la pared o simplemente puesto en el cuarto. El dueño
establece la temperatura del cuarto y el (RTC) abre o cierra las persianas del “ACTIVENT” para
mantener la temperatura deseada.
Ahorro de Energía
“ACTIVENT” no solamente retiene la temperatura deseada pero reparte el aire caliente o frío a

Instalación- Segundo paso – Emparejamiento de los códigos del “ACTIVENT” y el Control

Localize la combinación de código en la registradora del “ACTIVENT”(fig. 1) y en el control Remoto.
(fig. 2) El código se pone cuando una serie de cinco micro combinaciones se alinean. Emplee una
estilográfica para correr las micro combinaciones del código y así haga coincidir las mismas con el
código del Control Remoto.**
**IMPORTANTE! Si usted está instalando varios “ACTIVENT” en su casa, tiene que estar seguro que
cada código sea diferente en cada habitación. Si usted está instalando más de 2 “ACTIVENT” por
cuarto, tiene que asegurarse que los códigos de las registradoras del “ACTIVENT” estén de acuerdo
con el único Control Remoto de Temperatura en el cuarto.
Instalación: Tercer paso - Inserte las Baterías “Alkaline” al sistema de “ACTIVENT”.

Instalación: Cuarto paso – Colocar el “ACTIVENT” en la entrada del aire
Quite la vieja registradora de la entrada de aire.
Asegure en la abertura el nuevo “ACTIVENT” con los tornillos provistos. Cuando el “ACTIVENT”
esté colocado, ponga el cubre del “ACTIVENT”. El cubre tiene cuatro enganches magnéticos para
sostenerse al “ACTIVENT”.
Instalación: Quinto paso – Instalación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC)
Escoja una locación (preferible al otro lado del “ACTIVENT”) para colocar el RTC. Aproximada-
mente coloque el RTC a la altura de su hombro usando los tornillos provistos. (Una plantilla para la
pared está incluida al final de estas instrucciones).
Si quisiera, el RTC puede estar en una mesa de luz pero tenga cuidado que esté lejos de la salida
del aire del “ACTIVENT” para no interrumpir las operaciones del RTC.
Instalación: Sexto paso – Estableciendo la Operación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC).
Abra el frente del RTC y coloque 4 baterías “alkaline” teniendo cuidado que estén orientadas

Modo Automático

95% of homes with central heating and/or air conditioning share a common problem. Some rooms
get too hot when the heat comes on or too cold when the air conditioning comes on.
An average home in North America has 9-12 rooms with typically 2-4 rooms being over heated or
over cooled.
Comfort
Installing an Activent in each of these rooms helps eliminate this problem. The homeowner simply
replaces an existing air register with an Activent unit complete with its own electronic louver
system. This louver system is controlled by a temperature controller (RTC) that is mounted on the
wall or simply placed in the room. The homeowner sets the desired temperature for the room and
the RTC will open or close the louver system in the Activent unit to maintain the desired tempera-
ture.
Energy Savings
In addition to maintaining the desired temperature in Activent controlled rooms, the Activent
redistributes the hot or cold air to other rooms. This allows the rest of the home to reach its set
temperature in a more efficient manner, therefore helping reduce utility bills by up to 5% per
Activent equipped room (I.E. two rooms up to 10%, etc.).
Number of Vents Per Home
We recommend installing an Activent unit only in rooms that are too warm during the heating cycle
and/or too cold in the cooling cycle. However, we do not recommend installing Activent systems in
more than 1/3 of the air registers.*
*Activent can be used in multi-zoned HVAC systems. In such installations you may install Activent in
up to 1/3 of the air registers within each zone.
Installation: Step 1 – Unpack
The Activent package contains 3 items; (1) The Activent louver system, (2) Activent louver cover and
(3) a Remote Temperature Control (RTC).

Installation: Step2 – Matching the Activent and RTC combination codes
Locate the combination code switch on the Activent louver system (fig. 1) and the RTC (fig. 2). The
combination code is set by aligning a series of 5 micro switches. Slide the micro switches with the tip
of a ball point pen to match that of the RTC.**
**IMPORTANT! If you are installing more than one Activent in different rooms you must make sure
the combination code is set differently for each room. If you are installing 2 (or more) Activents in
the same room you must make sure all the combination codes are set the same for the RTC in that
room (one RTC per room).
Installation: Step 3 – Insert Alkaline Ba!eries into Activent
Activent – First remove the grill cover from the Activent louver system. Next slide the ba!ery case
latch to the open position while pulling gently on the warning label. The ba!ery case should come
out easily (fig. 3). Open the ba!ery case. (fig. 4)
Install 4 AA alkaline ba!eries (fig. 5) making sure the ba!eries are oriented in the right direction and
push the ba!ery case back into the Activent until it latches.
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Installation: Step 4 – Placing the Activent Unit into the Air Inlet
Remove old grill and register from the air inlet.
Place the Activent unit into the air inlet and secure with provided screws. Once the Activent unit is
secured place the Activent grill cover over the unit. The grill cover has four strong magnets which
a!ach to the metal mounting plate of the Activent unit.
Installation: Step 5 – Installing the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Select a location (preferably across the room from the Activent unit) to mount the RTC. Mount the
RTC at approximately shoulder height using the 2 screws provided with your RTC (a wall template is
included at the end of this instruction sheet).
The RTC may also be placed on a dresser or night stand (remember to keep the RTC away from the
air flow of the Activent so proper operation will occur).
Installation: Step 6 – Se!ing up the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Open the front cover of the RTC and insert 4 alkaline ba!eries making sure the ba!eries are
oriented in the right direction. (fig. 6)
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Set the heating/cooling slider to the desired position. If the central HVAC is on heat set the RTC
slider to the heating mode (red). If the central HVAC is on air conditioning set the RTC slider to the
cooling mode (blue). This se!ing is important because the RTC is designed to respond to tempera-
ture increases during heating cycles and to temperature decreases during cooling cycles.
Auto Mode
When the Mode switch (fig. 7) is in the “Auto” position, the opening and closing of the Activent
louvers is controlled by the RTC.
Manual Mode
The Activent may be opened or closed manually.
To open the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Open” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain open.
To close the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Close” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain closed.
Installation: Final Step – Se!ing the Room Temperature with the RTC
Make sure that the RTC is in the “Auto” position. Set the RTC slide to the desired temperature for
the room. When the room reaches the set temperature the Activent louver system will close
automatically. The Activent will open automatically once the temperature in the room changes back
by more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Time to Change Ba!eries
Ba!eries for the Activent and the RTC should last for approximately one year. We recommend that
you change the ba!eries once a year to insure optimal operation. In the event that the ba!eries run
low, the RTC will emit a low ba!ery warning light. A yellow flashing light on the front of RTC
indicates it is time to change ba!eries in the RTC. A red flashing light indicates it is time to change
the ba!eries in the Activent louver system. Once fresh ba!eries are installed the light will

95% of homes with central heating and/or air conditioning share a common problem. Some rooms
get too hot when the heat comes on or too cold when the air conditioning comes on.
An average home in North America has 9-12 rooms with typically 2-4 rooms being over heated or
over cooled.
Comfort
Installing an Activent in each of these rooms helps eliminate this problem. The homeowner simply
replaces an existing air register with an Activent unit complete with its own electronic louver
system. This louver system is controlled by a temperature controller (RTC) that is mounted on the
wall or simply placed in the room. The homeowner sets the desired temperature for the room and
the RTC will open or close the louver system in the Activent unit to maintain the desired tempera-
ture.
Energy Savings
In addition to maintaining the desired temperature in Activent controlled rooms, the Activent
redistributes the hot or cold air to other rooms. This allows the rest of the home to reach its set
temperature in a more efficient manner, therefore helping reduce utility bills by up to 5% per
Activent equipped room (I.E. two rooms up to 10%, etc.).
Number of Vents Per Home
We recommend installing an Activent unit only in rooms that are too warm during the heating cycle
and/or too cold in the cooling cycle. However, we do not recommend installing Activent systems in
more than 1/3 of the air registers.*
*Activent can be used in multi-zoned HVAC systems. In such installations you may install Activent in
up to 1/3 of the air registers within each zone.
Installation: Step 1 – Unpack
The Activent package contains 3 items; (1) The Activent louver system, (2) Activent louver cover and
(3) a Remote Temperature Control (RTC).

Installation: Step2 – Matching the Activent and RTC combination codes
Locate the combination code switch on the Activent louver system (fig. 1) and the RTC (fig. 2). The
combination code is set by aligning a series of 5 micro switches. Slide the micro switches with the tip
of a ball point pen to match that of the RTC.**
**IMPORTANT! If you are installing more than one Activent in different rooms you must make sure
the combination code is set differently for each room. If you are installing 2 (or more) Activents in
the same room you must make sure all the combination codes are set the same for the RTC in that
room (one RTC per room).
Installation: Step 3 – Insert Alkaline Ba!eries into Activent
Activent – First remove the grill cover from the Activent louver system. Next slide the ba!ery case
latch to the open position while pulling gently on the warning label. The ba!ery case should come
out easily (fig. 3). Open the ba!ery case. (fig. 4)
Install 4 AA alkaline ba!eries (fig. 5) making sure the ba!eries are oriented in the right direction and
push the ba!ery case back into the Activent until it latches.
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Installation: Step 4 – Placing the Activent Unit into the Air Inlet
Remove old grill and register from the air inlet.
Place the Activent unit into the air inlet and secure with provided screws. Once the Activent unit is
secured place the Activent grill cover over the unit. The grill cover has four strong magnets which
a!ach to the metal mounting plate of the Activent unit.
Installation: Step 5 – Installing the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Select a location (preferably across the room from the Activent unit) to mount the RTC. Mount the
RTC at approximately shoulder height using the 2 screws provided with your RTC (a wall template is
included at the end of this instruction sheet).
The RTC may also be placed on a dresser or night stand (remember to keep the RTC away from the
air flow of the Activent so proper operation will occur).
Installation: Step 6 – Se!ing up the Remote Temperature Control (RTC)
Open the front cover of the RTC and insert 4 alkaline ba!eries making sure the ba!eries are
oriented in the right direction. (fig. 6)
IMPORTANT! Alkaline ba!eries are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Alkaline
ba!eries should provide a run time of approximately one year.
Set the heating/cooling slider to the desired position. If the central HVAC is on heat set the RTC
slider to the heating mode (red). If the central HVAC is on air conditioning set the RTC slider to the
cooling mode (blue). This se!ing is important because the RTC is designed to respond to tempera-
ture increases during heating cycles and to temperature decreases during cooling cycles.
Auto Mode
When the Mode switch (fig. 7) is in the “Auto” position, the opening and closing of the Activent
louvers is controlled by the RTC.
Manual Mode
The Activent may be opened or closed manually.
To open the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Open” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain open.
To close the Activent louvers, slide the Mode switch to the “Close” position. The Activent louvers
will now remain closed.
Installation: Final Step – Se!ing the Room Temperature with the RTC
Make sure that the RTC is in the “Auto” position. Set the RTC slide to the desired temperature for
the room. When the room reaches the set temperature the Activent louver system will close
automatically. The Activent will open automatically once the temperature in the room changes back
by more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Time to Change Ba!eries
Ba!eries for the Activent and the RTC should last for approximately one year. We recommend that
you change the ba!eries once a year to insure optimal operation. In the event that the ba!eries run
low, the RTC will emit a low ba!ery warning light. A yellow flashing light on the front of RTC
indicates it is time to change ba!eries in the RTC. A red flashing light indicates it is time to change
the ba!eries in the Activent louver system. Once fresh ba!eries are installed the light will
extinguish a$er approximately 5 minutes.

Comodidad
Instalando un “ACTIVENT” en cada una de estas habitaciones UD. elimina este problema. El dueño
de la casa simplemente reemplaza un registrador existente con una unidad “ACTIVENT” que tiene
un sistema electrónico con persianas de cierre automático. Este sistema está gobernado por un
registrador de temperatura (RTC) montada en la pared o simplemente puesto en el cuarto. El dueño
establece la temperatura del cuarto y el (RTC) abre o cierra las persianas del “ACTIVENT” para
mantener la temperatura deseada.
Ahorro de Energía
“ACTIVENT” no solamente retiene la temperatura deseada pero reparte el aire caliente o frío a

**IMPORTANTE! Si usted está instalando varios “ACTIVENT” en su casa, tiene que estar seguro que
cada código sea diferente en cada habitación. Si usted está instalando más de 2 “ACTIVENT” por
cuarto, tiene que asegurarse que los códigos de las registradoras del “ACTIVENT” estén de acuerdo
con el único Control Remoto de Temperatura en el cuarto.
Instalación: Tercer paso - Inserte las Baterías “Alkaline” al sistema de “ACTIVENT”.

Instalación: Cuarto paso – Colocar el “ACTIVENT” en la entrada del aire
Quite la vieja registradora de la entrada de aire.
Asegure en la abertura el nuevo “ACTIVENT” con los tornillos provistos. Cuando el “ACTIVENT”
esté colocado, ponga el cubre del “ACTIVENT”. El cubre tiene cuatro enganches magnéticos para
sostenerse al “ACTIVENT”.
Instalación: Quinto paso – Instalación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC)
Escoja una locación (preferible al otro lado del “ACTIVENT”) para colocar el RTC. Aproximada-
mente coloque el RTC a la altura de su hombro usando los tornillos provistos. (Una plantilla para la
pared está incluida al final de estas instrucciones).
Si quisiera, el RTC puede estar en una mesa de luz pero tenga cuidado que esté lejos de la salida
del aire del “ACTIVENT” para no interrumpir las operaciones del RTC.
Instalación: Sexto paso – Estableciendo la Operación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC).
Abra el frente del RTC y coloque 4 baterías “alkaline” teniendo cuidado que estén orientadas

IMPORTANTE! Recomendamos baterías “alkaline” para asegurarse de obtener un buen rendimiento.

Sitúe la vara del calor o frío a la posición deseable. Si la HVAC central está puesta para calor,
coloque la RTC vara para el modo del calor (rojo). Si la central HVAC está para el aire acondicio-
nado, coloque la vara del RTC para el modo de frío (azul). Esto es importante porque el RTC
responde a aumentos de temperaturas durante los ciclos de calor y a disminuciones de temperatura
durante ciclos de frío.
Modo Automático
Cuando la vara de modo está en la posición “Auto”, el abrimiento y cierre del Registrador “ACTI-
VENT” está controlado por el RTC.
Modo Manual
El “ACTIVENT” puede ser abierto y cerrado manualmente.

cierra automáticamente. El “ACTIVENT” se abrirá cuando la temperatura cambia más de dos grados
Fahrenheit.
Tiempo para cambiar la Batería
Las baterías para el “ACTIVENT” y el RTC deberían durar hasta un año. Recomendamos que usted

IMPORTANTE! Recomendamos baterías “Alkaline” para asegurarse de obtener un buen
rendimiento. Las baterías tendrían que durar aproximadamente un año
Instalación: Cuarto paso – Colocar el “ACTIVENT” en la entrada del aire
Quite la vieja registradora de la entrada de aire.
Asegure en la abertura el nuevo “ACTIVENT” con los tornillos provistos. Cuando el “ACTIVENT”
esté colocado, ponga el cubre del “ACTIVENT”. El cubre tiene cuatro enganches magnéticos para
sostenerse al “ACTIVENT”.
Instalación: Quinto paso – Instalación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC)
Escoja una locación (preferible al otro lado del “ACTIVENT”) para colocar el RTC. Aproximada-
mente coloque el RTC a la altura de su hombro usando los tornillos provistos. (Una plantilla para la
pared está incluida al final de estas instrucciones).
Si quisiera, el RTC puede estar en una mesa de luz pero tenga cuidado que esté lejos de la salida
del aire del “ACTIVENT” para no interrumpir las operaciones del RTC.
Instalación: Sexto paso – Estableciendo la Operación del Control Remoto de Temperatura (RTC).
Abra el frente del RTC y coloque 4 baterías “alkaline” teniendo cuidado que estén orientadas
correctamente. (fig. 6)
IMPORTANTE! Recomendamos baterías “alkaline” para asegurarse de obtener un buen rendimiento.
Las baterías tendrían que durar aproximadamente un año.
Sitúe la vara del calor o frío a la posición deseable. Si la HVAC central está puesta para calor,
coloque la RTC vara para el modo del calor (rojo). Si la central HVAC está para el aire acondicio-
nado, coloque la vara del RTC para el modo de frío (azul). Esto es importante porque el RTC
responde a aumentos de temperaturas durante los ciclos de calor y a disminuciones de temperatura
durante ciclos de frío.
Modo Automático
Cuando la vara de modo está en la posición “Auto”, el abrimiento y cierre del Registrador “ACTI-
VENT” está controlado por el RTC.
Modo Manual
El “ACTIVENT” puede ser abierto y cerrado manualmente.
Para abrir las persianas del “ACTIVENT”, cambie la vara del modo a la posición abierta – “open”. El
“ACTIVENT” se mantiene abierto.
Para cerrar las persianas del “ACTIVENT”, cambie la vara del modo a la posición cerrado – “closed”.
EL “ACTIVENT” se mantiene cerrado.
Instalación: Paso Final – Estableciendo La temperatura con el RTC
Asegure que el RTC esté en la posición “Auto”. Ponga la vara del RTC a la temperatura deseable
para la habitación. Cuando el cuarto llegue a la temperatura registrada en el RTC, el “ACTIVENT” se
cierra automáticamente. El “ACTIVENT” se abrirá cuando la temperatura cambia más de dos grados
Fahrenheit.
Tiempo para cambiar la Batería
Las baterías para el “ACTIVENT” y el RTC deberían durar hasta un año. Recomendamos que usted
las cambie cada año. En el caso que las baterías estén pasadas, el RTC emitiría una luz de alerta
indicando que la batería está baja. Una luz amarilla centelleante al frente del RTC indica que es
tiempo de cambiar las baterías del RTC. Una luz roja centelleante indica que es tiempo de cambiar
las baterías del “ACTIVENT”. Una vez que las nuevas baterías han sido instaladas la luz se apagará
después de aproximadamente 5 minutos
