2Before connecting the kettle to the power supply, check that
the voltage indicated on the appliance (underside the kettle
base) corresponds with the voltage in your home. If this is not
the case, contact your dealer and do not use the kettle.
3The attached base cannot be used for other than the intended
use.
4Do not operate the appliance without water to avoid damaging
the heat elements.
5Unplug from the outlet when not in use.
6Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or
touch hot surfaces.
7Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a
heated oven.
8If you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water, the
boil-dry protection will automatically switch it off. If this should
occur, allow the kettle to cool before filling with cold water and
re-boiling.
9Make sure that the kettle is used on a firm, flat surface where
children can't touch it. This can prevent overturning the kettle,
resulting in damage to the kettle or injury to the person.
10 To protect against a fire, electric shock, or personal injury, do
not immerse the electrical cord, electric plugs, or the kettle in
water or other liquids.
11 Always take care to pour boiling water slowly and carefully
without tipping the kettle too fast.
12 Be careful when opening the lid for refilling when the kettle is
hot.
13 Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or
near children.
14 Do not touch the kettle when it is hot. Use the handle.
15 Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance
containing hot water.
16 The appliance is not a toy. Do not let children play with it.

17 The use of attachments that are not recommended by the
appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or
personal injury.
18 While boiling water, avoid contacting steam from the spout
when water is boiling, or just after it has switched off. Do not be
anxious to uncover the lid.
19 Unplug from the power outlet when not in use and before
cleaning. Allow it to cool before putting on or taking off parts
and before cleaning the appliance.
20 Always make sure that the lid is closed. Do not lift the lid while
the water is boiling. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed
during the brewing cycles.
21 If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person,
in order to avoid a hazard.
22 Do not use the kettle for other than its intended use.
23 Do not move the kettle while it is switched on.
24 The kettle should only be used with the stand provided.
25 If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
26 Do not use the kettle outdoors.
27 This appliance can be used by children aged from eight years
and above, if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they
understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are
older than eight and supervised. Keep the appliance and its
cord out of reach of children aged less than eight years.
28 Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
29 Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand

30 This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar
applications such as:
• Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working
environments
• Farm houses
• By clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type
environments
• Bed and breakfast type environments
31 This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the
other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended
to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit
fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the
plug in any way.
32 A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks
resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer
cord.
33 WARNING: You may use an extension cord if proper care is
exercised.
34 If you use an extension cord, make sure that:
• The marked electrical rating of the extension cord is at least as
great as the electrical rating of your kettle.
• The extension cord is not draped over a counter or table top
where children can pull it or trip over it.

Features
Just one touch on the four preset temperature buttons to prepare your green tea 175° F
(80° C), delicate tea 160° F (70° C), herbal tea 195° F (90° C), or black tea/boil 212° F
(100° C) very efficiently. Equipped with the most accurate temperature sensor that will
never again burn your tea leaves. You can also boil water 212° F (100° C) quickly.
• The variable temperature kettle has a keep-warm function that holds your desired
water temperature for up to 60 minutes.
• The memory feature allows the water kettle to be lifted off its base for up to three
minutes without shutting off or losing its place in the brewing process.
• The glass body lets you easily see the water level.
• The cordless kettle, with a 360° base, lets you pour water easily.
• Boil-dry protection and auto-shutoff prevent your kettle from boiling dry.
• 1.7 L capacity heats enough water for everyone.
• 1.2 L capacity for tea to keep you energized through the day.
• A mesh spout filter and a concealed heating element help reduce buildup.
• The tea infuser has a separate lid to allow easy filling with tea leaves. A simple twist
removes the infuser to allow cleaning after every use.

Setting up your kettle
1Remove your kettle and all materials from the carton.
2Examine your kettle for any damage, such as dents or broken glass. Don’t install or
use your kettle if you find any damage.
3Place your kettle on a level surface that provides enough open space for the air vents.
4Plug your kettle into a standard, grounded household outlet. Make sure that the
voltage and the frequency is the same as the voltage and the frequency on the rating
label.
5Before you use your kettle, we recommend that you clean your kettle by boiling a full
kettle of water twice, then discarding the water.
Using your kettle
Filling your kettle
1Remove the kettle from the heating base, then remove the lid.
2Add water to the kettle.
3Close the lid, then position the kettle on the heating base. Make sure that the kettle
contacts the heating base completely.
Notes:
• Always fill the kettle between the minimum .5 qt. (0.5 l) and maximum 1.8 qt. (1.7 l)
marks. Too little water results in the kettle turning off before the water has boiled.
Too much water results in boiling water overflowing.
• Make sure that the lid is firmly in place before connecting the power cord to the
outlet.
• If using the tea infuser, make sure that the water does not exceed the “1.2 L Tea Max
line”.

Heating water
1With the kettle filled, plug in the heating base. The lights on the control panel will
turn on for one to two seconds, then turn off.
2Press the (power) button. The (power) button and 212° F buttons light. The
kettle begins heating the water.
You can press any of the other temperature buttons, such as 160° F, 175° F, or 195° F,
at any time. The kettle will heat the water to the selected temperature.
3If you want to keep the water warm, you can press the Keep warm button at any time
and choose a temperature. The kettle keeps the water at the selected temperature for
one hour (60 minutes).
4When the water reaches the selected temperature, the tea kettle beeps to let you
know. Lift the kettle from the heating base and pour the water.
Using the tea infuser
1Remove the kettle lid, with the tea infuser attached, from your tea kettle.
2Open the tea infuser lid by turning it until the arrow lines up with the “open” mark.
3Put the amount of tea you want into the infuser basket (we recommend one to two
teaspoons (5 -10 g), then replace the lid by turning it until the arrow lines up with
“lock” mark.
4Fill your kettle with enough water for the tea you want, making sure that you do not
fill it past the maximum mark (“1.2 L TEA MAX”), then replace the lid, with the tea
infuser attached, onto your kettle.
5Plug in your kettle and press the (power) button to turn it on.
6Press any preset temperature button (160° F, 175° F, 195° F, or 212° F). The
temperature indicator light turns on and the water begins heating.
7After the water temperature reaches the preset temperature, the power turns off. Let
the infuser basket remain in the kettle to steep the tea, and remove it when the color
of the tea indicates that the tea is ready (depending on your personal preference).
Using the tea kettle memory function
If you decide that you want your tea kept warm, the Keep Warm button can be pressed
at any time during the heating process. With the Keep Warm function selected, you can
remove the tea kettle from the heating base for up to three minutes and have the heating
base remain on.
The temperature buttons can also be pressed at any time to select the temperature to
which you want the water heated.
CAUTIONS:
• Make sure that the lid is firmly in place before connecting the power cord to the
outlet. If the lid is loose, hot water could overflow and result in a scald or burn.
• Always exercise caution when pouring water from your kettle. Contact with boiling
water could result in a scald or burn.
• Do not open the lid while the water in the kettle is hot.
Note: You can store your kettle on the heating base when it’s not in use. Make sure that
the power is turned off.

Boil-dry protection
Should you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water, the boil-dry protection
will automatically switch it off. If this should occur, allow the kettle to cool before filling
with cold water and re-boiling.
Cleaning and maintaining your electric kettle
Removing mineral deposits
• Mineral deposits in tap water may cause the kettle interior to discolor or “scale.”To
remove this build-up, use non-toxic liquid de-scaler or tea scale cleaning tablets.

1Fill your kettle with three cups of white vinegar and the remainder with water and let
it stand overnight. Do not boil.
2Empty the solution from your kettle. Remove remaining stains with a damp cloth.
3Boil two full kettles of water, then discard the water.
Cleaning the outside
• Wipe the outside of your kettle and heating base with a damp cloth or sponge.
Cleaning the filter
Remember to clean the filter with a mild detergent and damp cloth at intervals.
Storing your kettle
• When not in use, the kettle can be kept on the heating base.
Troubleshooting
Do not try to repair your kettle yourself. Doing so invalidates the warranty. If problems
persist after you try the solutions below, contact Best Buy technical support.
CAUTIONS:
• Your tea kettle is NOT dishwasher safe - DO NOT put it in the dishwasher.
• Always unplug the power cord and let your kettle cool down completely before
cleaning.
• Never immerse your kettle, cord, or heating base in water, or let moisture come in
contact with these parts.
• Do not use chemicals, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners to clean the outside of your
kettle. These substances can scratch the surface or fade the color.
Note: Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. The power cord can be wound
around the cord storage under the base of kettle.

The water is boiling, but the
power switch and indicator light
are still on.
The auto-shut off function does not operate properly if
the lid is not completely closed. Let the kettle cool, then
make sure that the lid is properly locked into place.
The kettle will not turn on. Make sure that the kettle is seated properly on the
heating base and that the base is connected to a
functioning power outlet.
Water or debris on the bottom of your kettle or on the
heating base may interfere with the functioning of your
kettle. Make sure that the bottom of your kettle and the
base are dry and free of debris.
There are mineral deposits
inside the kettle.
Before using your electric kettle for the first time, clean
your kettle by boiling two full kettles of water, then
discarding the water.
A certain amount of scale build-up is normal after long
periods of use and is caused by minerals contained in
hard water. The best way to prevent mineral deposits is
to always use distilled water in the kettle.
To remove deposits, try filling your kettle with water and
a few slices of lemon, then boil.

Definitions:
The Distributor* of Insignia branded products warrants to you, the original purchaser of this new
Insignia-branded product (“Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original
manufacturer of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of your
purchase of the Product (“Warranty Period”).
For this warranty to apply, your Product must be purchased in the United States or Canada from a
Best Buy branded retail store or online at www.bestbuy.com or www.bestbuy.ca and is packaged
with this warranty statement.
How long does the coverage last?
The Warranty Period lasts for 1 year (365 days) from the date you purchased the Product. Your
purchase date is printed on the receipt you received with the Product.
What does this warranty cover?
During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material or workmanship of the
Product is determined to be defective by an authorized Insignia repair center or store personnel,
Insignia will (at its sole option): (1) repair the Product with new or rebuilt parts; or (2) replace the
Product at no charge with new or rebuilt comparable products or parts. Products and parts replaced
under this warranty become the property of Insignia and are not returned to you. If service of
Products or parts are required after the Warranty Period expires, you must pay all labor and parts
charges. This warranty lasts as long as you own your Insignia Product during the Warranty Period.
Warranty coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer the Product.
How to obtain warranty service?
If you purchased the Product at a Best Buy retail store location or from a Best Buy online website
(www.bestbuy.com or www.bestbuy.ca), please take your original receipt and the Product to any
Best Buy store. Make sure that you place the Product in its original packaging or packaging that
provides the same amount of protection as the original packaging.
To obtain warranty service, in the United States and Canada call 1-877-467-4289. Call agents may
diagnose and correct the issue over the phone.
Where is the warranty valid?
This warranty is valid only in the United States and Canada at Best Buy branded retail stores or
websites to the original purchaser of the product in the country where the original purchase was
made.
What does the warranty not cover?
This warranty does not cover:
• Food loss/spoilage due to failure of refrigerator or freezer
• Customer instruction/education
• Installation
• Set up adjustments
• Cosmetic damage
• Damage due to weather, lightning, and other acts of God, such as power surges
•Accidentaldamage
•Misuse
•Abuse
• Negligence
• Commercial purposes/use, including but not limited to use in a place of business or in communal
areas of a multiple dwelling condominium or apartment complex, or otherwise used in a place of
other than a private home.
• Modification of any part of the Product, including the antenna
• Display panel damaged by static (non-moving) images applied for lengthy periods (burn-in).
• Damage due to incorrect operation or maintenance

• Attempted repair by any person not authorized by Insignia to service the Product
• Products sold “as is” or “with all faults”
• Consumables, including but not limited to batteries (i.e. AA, AAA, C etc.)

• Loss or Theft of this product or any part of the product
• Display panels containing up to three (3) pixel failures (dots that are dark or incorrectly
illuminated) grouped in an area smaller than one tenth (1/10) of the display size or up to five (5)
pixel failures throughout the display. (Pixel based displays may contain a limited number of pixels
that may not function normally.)
• Failures or Damage caused by any contact including but not limited to liquids, gels or pastes.
REPAIR REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS YOUR EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR
BREACH OF WARRANTY. INSIGNIA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
