Unpacking
Although your ES-6116 is neither complicated nor difficult to operate, we recommend you take a few
minutes to read this brief manual and familiarize yourself with the important information regarding
product features, setup and operation.
As with most electronic devices, we strongly recommend you to retain the original packaging. In the
unlikely event the product must be returned for servicing, the original packaging (or reasonable
equivalent) is required.
Installation
Environment
Never place this product in an environment which could alter its performance or reduce its service life.
Such environments usually include high levels of heat, dust, moisture, and vibration.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read these instructions.

4. Follow all instructions.
5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus
(including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two
blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding
prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not
fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the
apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid
injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of
time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when
the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or
plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the
apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not

- AUTO FIRE SENSOR CONNECTOR
Connect to a fire sensor for a fully functional fire alarm.
- SPEAKER SWITCHING DURING EMERGENCIES
Speaker switching can be performed manually or remotely using the Inter-M PX-6116.
- FIRE AND SPEAKER SWITCHING INDICATOR
LED indicators show you the status of the speaker performance.
- EXTENSION FUNCTION
Use the ES-6116 Emergency Switcher with an additional ES-6116.
- WORKS FLAWLESSLY WITH OTHER INTER-M PRODUCTS
Use with the Inter-M PX-6116 Matrix and the Inter-M RG-6116 Relay Group.
Operation
Make certain that speakers and input sources are properly connected before switching the unit on.
Keep volume levels turned down before switching on.
※NOTE : The system’s operation is delayed by approximately three seconds after pressing the power
switch.
This is due to the built-in protection circuitry, designed to protect the speakers and other system
components.

1. EMERGENCY ALL LED
This LED will light to indicate that the EMERGENCY SPEAKER ALL Switch (3) has been engaged.
2. FIRE AND EMERGENCY 1-16 LEDS
These LEDs light to indicate that the corresponding EMERGENCY SPEAKER SELECTOR (4) has
been
engaged. Also, during a fire emergency, these LEDs will blink on and off.
3. EMERGENCY SPEAKER ALL SWITCH
This switch allows manual selection of all 16 speakers at one time during an emergency.
4. EMERGENCY SPEAKER SELECTORS
These switches allow you to select speakers 1-16, and are for use during an emergency. They can
be
operated manually, or by connecting the Inter-M RG-6116 relay group.

1. FIRE SENSOR TERMINAL
Connects LINK IN terminal to preceding unit, and connects LINK OUT terminal to subsequent unit.
2. EMERGENCY SWITCHER TERMINAL
Use this terminal to connect an Inter-M PX-6116 Emergency Switcher.
3. EXTENSION CONNECTOR
Connect an additional ES-6116 to this connector.
4. DC 24V OUTPUT CONNECTOR
This terminal is used for connecting to the DC 24V In terminal of an auto-broadcasting system.
5. FIRE SENSOR TERMINAL
Connect an auto-fire sensor to this terminal. Alternately, the FIRE SENSOR CONNECTOR (1) may
be
used to connect a fire sensor.
6. DC 24V INPUT CONNECTOR
This terminal is used for connecting to the DC 24V Out terminal of an auto-broadcasting system.

Suggestions for Rack Instaallation

Suggestions for Rack Instaallation
- Witch off AC Mains power to the ES-6116 before installing the system.
- Connect the fire sensor to the FIRE SENSOR Connector or Terminal, referencing Table 1 below.
Also refer to the included circuit block diagram. (See Page 8.)
- Connect the Com, Fire, Sum, and EM Sum terminals on the rear panel to the PX-6116’s
emergency switcher rear panel connection.
Operating Procedure
- Switch the ES-6116 AC Mains Power Switch on.
- The SPEAKER SELECTOR Switches (3) and (4) may be operated manually, or the unit may be
connected to the Inter-M RG-6116 for remote operation.
※NOTE : To set up linkage lines, use the top screen of the PCB according to the table below.
