Type1installation:
A typicalinstallation
of a type 1 SPDwill be connectedbetweenthe
secondary
of theservicetransformer
andthe line sideof the service
panel.
Thisinstallation
isintendedto beinstalledwithout
overcurrent
protection
to theSPD.
1. Determininglocation:
o Ensureconductor lengths are as shoft and straight as
possible
for bestpedormance.
Donotcoilexcesswire.The
SPDfunctions
bestifall bendsinwiresarerounded,ideally
to a 4" radius.Hard90 degreebendwill reduce
efficiency.

appropriateweatherprooffittingsif the unit is to be
mountedoutside.

busbarin
thepanel
asshown.

3. Connectthe two black wires to a circuit breakeras shown.
Forbestperformance
from SPDthe maximumrecommended
circuitbreakersizeof 240VAG,upto 30 A, 2-poleshould be
used.
4. Ensureallmounting
andelectricalconnectionsare
correctand
securelyfastened.Once
energizedthegreen indicatorLEDwill
beONandvisiblethrough
thecover
oftheSPD.
