Always Putting Our Patients First
1. Place shoulder strap over the neck so that the Shoulder/Arm Abduction is located under
the arm needing the abduction wedge. Place the waist strap around the waist, wrapping
it securely so that the Shoulder/Arm Abduction fits tightly against the body.
2. Fasten the provided abduction wedge in the outside fold of the shoulder abduction
system. Each abduction wedge has a nylon fabric fastener tape on all three sides. The
corner of the abduction wedge should fit tightly in the fold of the Shoulder/Arm
Abduction. The corner that is placed in the fold causes the angle of the shoulder
positioning. (Note: Shoulder positioning is indicated on the side of the abduction wedge
in increments of 15, 30, 60, and 90 degrees.)
3. Beginning at the upper arm, secure each arm strap (3) so that the Shoulder/Arm
Abduction fits tightly against the arm and there is minimal change of your arm position.
Proceed down the arm, attaching each strap with the nylon fabric fasteners provided.
Modify and adjust as required. When applied correctly, the Shoulder/Arm Abduction
should fit tightly around the waist, and should fit tightly into your underarm to ensure
correct positioning. In order to ensure correct positioning and secure fastening of all
parts, the user may need assistance to continue tightening the Shoulder/Arm Abduction.
