INTRODUCTION
SYMBOLS USED IN THIS MANUAL
This manual is integral part of the product. Read carefully the instructions contained in it
since it contains important indications for the safety of use and maintenance.
The technical information and the relative products of this manual could be modified
without any previous notice.
The flowmeter must be used for the use it has been built for. The improper use, possible
tampering of the instrument or parts of it and substitutions of any components not
original, makes the warranty to decay automatically. The manufacturer is considered
responsible only if instrument is used in its original configuration and setting, therefore
only qualified staff may open the cover.
The flowmeter makes measures of liquids with conductivity greater than 5 µS; it consists
of a converter (described in this manual) and a sensor, for which see the manual
provided.
When transporting, unpacking and handling the flowmeter, be careful and care.
In the case of protracted storage keep it in the original box in a dry place; do not place
more than 3 packs one above the other. It is possible storage and transport over a pallet
(in case of wooden crates do not place one above the other).
For the cleaning of the device use only a damp cloth, and for the maintenance repairs,
contact the service center (for details see the last page).
For device and packaging discarding, follow severely the local rules, laws and
regulations.
The reproduction of this manual and all the software supplied with the instrument is
strictly forbidden.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
ALWAYS ensure that the converter and the sensor are grounded (earthed) correctly. The
grounding of the sensor and converter ensures that the equipment and liquid are
equipotential.
Before connecting the power supply, verify that the mains voltage are within the
limits indicated on data plate (see also page 4).
For the connections use only approved conductors, with fire-proof properties, whose
section varies from 0,25 to 2,50 mm
2
, based on distance power; as well fix the
power supply wires with a additional fastening system located close to the terminal.
The power supply line must be equipped with an external protection for overload
current (fuse or automatic line breaker).
Provide nearness the converter a circuit breaker easily accessible for the operator
and clearly identified; whose symbols must conform to the electrical safety and local
electrical requirements.
Ensure that the component complies with the requirements of the standard for
electrical safety distance.
Check the materials chemical compatibility used in the connection security systems in
order to minimize the electrochemical corrosion. In the aluminum housing it should
avoid direct contact between the ground connection cable and the aluminum
housing. It is therefore recommended to connect the safety ground cable, by placing
it between the washer and the metal bracket on the related terminal or use an eyelet
terminal crimped on the ground protection cable.
The sensor, hardwired inputs and outputs are connected to the converter through a
terminal block locate inside the converter.
To locate the terminal block loosen the 4 screws on the front cover. When the front
cover is lifted, the terminal block is visible. The terminal block is the hardwire
connection of the converter to external equipment, including the sensor.
The following pages give informations on the terminal block numbering, and the
respective connecting of the sensor cables, and input outputs.

Before starting up the equipment please verify the following:
Power supply voltage must correspond to that specified on the data tag
Electric connections must be completed as described
Ground (earthed) connections must be completed as specified
The cover is closed to protect the supply terminal
Verify periodically:
The integrity of the power supply cables, wiring and other connected electrical
parts
The integrity of the housing converter (this must not have dents or other
damage that may compromises its hermetical sealing)
The tightening of the sealing elements (cable glands, covers, etc.)
The integrity of the front panel (display and keyboard), any damage may
compromise the equipment sealing

At ‘Power on’ of the converter, the user will see the following display screen. In the top right
hand corner there may be a range of symbols. The symbols can be interpreted from the table
below. Interpretation of the flashing LED can be made from the LED interpretation table at the
bottom of this page.

For the converters without keyboard (blind
version), it can be accessed to the functions
through the optional serial cable IF2. Being the
housing closure dependent by the installer, the
IP degree may be compromised, so follow the
torques mentioned.

The keypad is accessible by loosening the 4 cover screws and
opening the front cover of the converter. Three KEYS are set
aside of the M3 power supply terminal block, allowing the user
to change display visualizations and select functions. Ensure
that the power supply cover is closed.

The ML 110 permits to show a 5 digit character display for flow rate units. This
mean the maximum flow rate value that can be represent on the display is 19999
(no matter the positioning of the decimal point) and the minimum is 0,025.
The converter’s calculation are based on the following formula:
-DN x DN x 0,008
The results of above calculation give the maximum flow rate a 10 m/s of speed
according to sensor’s diameter; the permitted units for the display are the measure
unit that, in reference to this calculated value, do not exceed the number 19999
(higher limi ) and 0,025 (lower limi )

ACCESS TO THE CONFIGURATION MENU
The converter’s configuration menus can be accessed in two different ways:
Through the “Quick s ar menu” it is possible to access directly a range of
principal functions for setting the scale reading and display characteristics of
the sensor (see function explanations pages 18-19)
Through the “Main menu” it is possible to access functions with an access
code ≤ 2, which control more of the sensors monitoring, data processing and
output, as well further display options.
The following example (page 17) illustrates how to change some of the values in the
Fs1 display field of the Quick Start menu. The second example (page 18) illustrates
how to change a function parameter in the ‘Main menu’.
Functions in the converter’s ‘Main menu’ are
enabled by the access codes. The information
of this manual is related to all the functions
available with in the L2 level. All higher level
functions are reserved for servicing and not
available.
